So bummed this place just closed. It was one of our go to tacos spots in the area. Really solid and fresh. The taco platter was my favorite.

Soggy tacos. Minuscule servings of guac. Terrible service. Somewhat pricey food and drinks. Overall the food was edible, but I would not base a meal around this place. They had one guy waiting on every table in this place and he seemed preoccupied at the bar half the time. The tables are small and cramped and the chairs are just uncomfortable. This place could easily be a 4 star as I really liked the vibe, but it was not worth the wait.

Terrible! Food is disgusting. Service is terrible. Margherita is terrible. What a waste of money and time. Ugh!

Stopped in last night for dinner for two around 815pm. The place was maybe half full. We sat ourselves, waited for menu, then waited to order. Then we waited… and waited. and waited for food. After 35 minutes of waiting(for tacos straight off the menu) we asked when the food would be ready. We were told the tacos are all«made fresh to order» and our order would be another 10 minutes. Would you wait 45 minutes for tacos? We didn’t. The two guys working there seemed disorganized, and told us nothing about what kind of wait we could expect. I ordered my tacos as a «platter» which means they would come with chips/salsa. Suggestion to restaurant: instead of having guests sit at a table with nothing but water during a very long wait for food, bring the chips out first so we can have something to snack on. We didn’t get to try any food so my review is based on service only. I was going to give 2 stars but then remembered that this place is ‘cash only’ which is a major annoyance and I didn’t see an ATM there either. I wish I would have read the Unilocal reviews before going because it seems like these issues are common occurrences.

Great veggie options! Everything is made fresh, and the platter is a really good deal! Will visit again when I’m in the neighborhood :) Make sure you try the mango hot sauce!

I checked out Taco Santo on a Thursday evening. I wasn’t super impressed. First, the service and staff seemed confused and disorganized. When you walk in you’re not sure where to go, but a sign says wait to be seated. Once seated it takes a long time to get a menu and even longer to order. This is all before the 30+ minute wait for food. The wait might be explained though: I didn’t get my food until I asked, and about 60 seconds later. And it was cold. Cold beans, cold tacos. My food had likely been sitting and waiting for a long time. The tacos themselves were VERY small for the price. I tried the three tacos platter(threes tacos with beans, rice, guac and chips for an extra $ 3 on top of the tacos). I had the fried avocado, carne guisada and shredded pork. The tacos were about two bites each, and cost $ 4 – 6 each. And again, came out cold. The extras weren’t good. Beans were cold, about a tablespoon of guacamole. All total $ 20 with tip for one person for tacos is way too much. I miss Austin tacos. The one high point were the chips — they tasted homemade.

Finally got to sit in the sun and try this place.(Every other time it’s raining out) With 3 tacos add $ 3 and u get chips with guac and salsa, and rice and beans. The green salsa is flavorful with a kick! Jalepeno margarita was delicious with real jalepeno! The beef and chicken tacos were good and well seasoned but the meat was just a little dry. The fried avocado is crispy but a little salty. The mushroom taco is perfect! The bfast and fish tacos were explained to me as average. Avocado crème brûlée had the perfect texture and a nice sugary top. Point is I’ll be coming back for all the vegetarian tacos and margaritas! Look for Mario, he’s great!

Stopped by here after dinner for a margarita. Place is small, has a small front outdoor seating as well. People seemed to be enjoying the food and I saw quite a few takeouts being waited on at the bar. I had a grapefruit/lime margarita also tasted their flor de Jamaica flavored one. Not bad. Cash only was only drawback for me as it is not really posted anywhere.

Really cute place right near the Union Street stop off the R train. But– get ready to wait 40 minutes for your meal. The menu is so small so it stinks when you know what you want and have to wait but the tacos are all great so it’s worth trying. The Baja fish is the best option, though.

If the drinks are bad, you know you have a situation on your hands. If your glass is dirty, you know you have a situation on your hands. If you are told to seat yourself and the table hasn’t been cleaned off yet, you know you have a situation on your hands. If you know after eating here you don’t want anyone else to eat here, you have handled the situation on your hands.

Went here last night for some Cinco de Mayo action, and the place was a hot mess. For Cinco de Mayo it wasn’t even THAT busy, but they were clearly having issues. I think there was one waitress for the whole place, and she was also acting as the hostess. I actually felt bad for her. Took about 15 mins to finally order drinks. We ordered our food at the same time. Our appetizer never came(chips and guac… i mean, you didn’t even have to cook anything). The tacos were delicious, that’s the only reason why I’m giving more than 1 star. So basically, great food. Terribly run. You may want to staff up a bit at a Mexican restaurant on Cinco de Mayo, no?

This place is very tiny but the décor is super authentic. My favorite piece had to be the skull lighting above the bar; it was very cute. If you are coming here I would suggest a small group. I only came with one friend and every seat in the house was taken(and by every seat I mean like 20 seats) and we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. When we were finally seated our table was crooked and my friend complained that her chair was wobbly as well. I ordered the three taco combo and a margarita. The margarita was delicious as well as the carne and pollo tacos. I ordered the potato taco as well but it was too spicy for me. The guac was also on point. However, it took a while for the server to take my order and give us the check at the end too. They also didn’t check up on us and ask how the meal went. We only got the check when someone saw us calculating the bill on a menu from the table next to us. All in all, good food, mediocre service.

I love Taco Santo’s big sister restaurant, Palo Santo, so I was excited to give it a try. The interior is inviting and cozy — by the end of our meal we had made friends with the family at the table next to us. However, the weird stools they have for the bench tables are extremely uncomfortable to sit in. We ordered drinks — a Jalapeño Margarita and Lila’s Song. They were fine — nothing extremely noteworthy… Good thing we did order those drinks because we waited an endless amount of time for our food to arrive. Eventually our waiter brought out some gratis chips and salsa to apologize for the wait but it was pretty surprising considering the restaurant is very small and wasn’t full. When it did arrive we tucked in fast and wolfed down our fare. The cabeza taco was by far the most delicious(it’s a special but I think they have it as a special quite often). The pork shoulder was really good and the chicken was not very good(dry, weird toppings). I got a platter which is a good deal for $ 3 — you get a side of beans and rice and chips and salsa… Unfortunately the beans and rice were completely bland and the salsa was more like a tomato compote. In the end, our dinner of two platters and two drinks set us back $ 60(incl. tip)… which was too much to pay for a dinner that was just so-so.

Have been here late-night twice. Pretty much everything was good, from the street food special to the tacos(we tried fish, mushroom, the simple egg one, lobster, chicken) to the rice and beans to the guac. Ooh and especially the watercress citrus salad. The only thing that didn’t blow me away was the avocado crème brûlée, but we were so full by the time we got to it that that may have colored our opinion. If you are looking for dinner after 11 in the slope, head over! You won’t be disappointed.

Delicious! We sat at the bar and ordered the Carne Guisada, Mushroom, Pollo En Mole Rojo & Slow Cooked Pork! Loved the Carne & Mushroom tacos the best. The corn tortilla is none you’ll ever get anywhere else. Great service. Seating inside for twos and fours. During the summer months, they have bench seating outdoors. We didn’t have any alcohol but I saw that they have an assorted mix of tequila. Coffee bar. Cash only.

Popped in yesterday for some takeout. The place is a small cantina and has a relaxed, comfortable vibe. I could easily stroll in some other time and knock back a tequila or 5, but this was just a quick visit to pick up our tacos. Service was friendly. I had the chicken mole, the roast pork and the fried avocado tacos. The chicken was very dry and uninspired, definitely not a repeat. The pork, which was also dry, was at least more flavorful and prepared traditionally. The avocado was interesting and unlike anything I’ve had before. Quite honestly though, given the long-ish list of options, I’m not sure I would try any of these three tacos again in hopes of something better next time. You can upgrade any taco order to a «platter» for $ 3, which gives you a decent portion of serviceable rice and beans, along with good tortilla chips, guac and several salsas/hot sauces. Overall, I thought it was ok, but not overly memorable. In the area, I’d hit up Oaxaca over these guys. Just sayin’.

I came here with a couple of friends who knew about the place. While the drinks sounded good, we went with just shots. We got guacamole for the table and it came with three dipping sauce, all were very good. The chips were a little oily but they were very thick and they were delicious as well as the guac. The first taco we got was the lobster taco without the butter. It also had avocado and was very tasty. The second taco was one of the daily specials which had kale and butternut squash and asked for it with no goat cheese. The jicama salad was really fresh and had a lot of cilantro and a very good dressing. I think we got about 4 or 5 orders of guacamole because it was so good. My friend got a mushroom taco which she also enjoyed. I think everything here had a lot of cilantro and that was great for me because it is one of my favorite things. The one thing I would recommend is double checking if there is dairy in the dishes because there was originally cheese in the kale/squash taco and we did not know.

Union &4th is rapidly becoming the tastiest intersection in Brooklyn. There is so much going on around there that it’s taken me a long time to finally get around to trying Taco Santo. And wow… if I had know what was going to be in store for me here, I would have reshuffled my priority list. These guys make a good taco! Sure, at first you might be put off by the small size, but man, these babies are big on taste. 2 aren’t enough, get at least 3. There’s a real difference when the tortillas are made in house and these guys have it spot on. The baja fish taco, win! The lobster taco, very good! Jicama salad, light and refreshing(good touch with the mango). The chips and salsa, also very good! All the hot sauces are all excellent, but man I could drink that medium sauce down if they let me… that was the most flavorful one I thought. I think I’ve found a new fav taco place. For the quality you get here, the prices are right. The Brooklyn taco wars continue, and Taco Santo is now the front runner in my book!

This local eatery joins in the barrage of taco shops in Park Slope. What makes it difference is the biergarten style wood benches and beers from a mason jar. The service is friendly but food can come out of the kitchen at a dribble on some nights. The tacos are made to order so everything is fresh as it lands in front of you. The night we went it there was a ebb and flow crowd for a late Monday night. We ordered the special pork special, fish and cactus taco. The pork was tender and flavorful. I liked the crispy fish batter that wasn’t too oily and the cactus had nice delicate flavor. I certainly come back to the friendly casual place. Just don’t be in a hurry.

Chef Jacques Gautier is a genius, he should be featured on the food network for being so innovative. His food is unique and his creativeness is unlike any other in Park slope. The Food at Taco Santo is good, but if I had 3 wishes in my life, it would be that the tacos were a bit bigger. The corn tortillas are made fresh in house, which makes a big difference. I recommend
