I went to Donna a while back to get my lower legs done. I had one treatment and never went back. Here’s why. Donna has you fill out extensive paperwork before your treatment, including detailed medical history information and a list of all medications you are taking. This really gives you a false sense of security that she actually reads what you write and it means something to her. It turns out that one of the medications I take causes photosensitivity. In my opinion, an experienced technician who charges what she does and collects your medical information before treating you SHOULD HAVE KNOWN that this common medication is contraindicated for laser treatment. End of story, I had purple and white dots all over my legs for close to a year. BEWARE and do your due diligence.
UPDATE– I have all of the emails about this issue from February 2012. I know we also spoke on the phone. At no point did you offer me a cream or offer to pay for a doctor’s visit. The correspondence ended when I didn’t respond to your last email since it was obvious you were of no help and the damage was already done to my legs. I’d be happy to post the emails here for all to see as proof.

Donna, the owner of the business, is sweet, thoughtful, conscientious and accommodating. She makes the process as painless — both emotionally and physically — as possible and has much professional experience. Her demeanor and conversation make what could be an uncomfortable and awkward experience a pleasure. The location is clean and private (only one client at a time) and this is why I have been a consistent client since 2012. Definitely recommended lasering in Park Slope!

I recently went to Donna for a touch up of my bikini and legs. When I say that I working with Donna has been life changing– I mean it.
Pros: Donna is hilarious, smart, and professional. She is a complete expert in all things beauty related.
She will never make you feel uncomfortable. Even in your most awkward areas, she helps you to laugh through the moment.
She is effective. Her results are worth the cost. She is totally skilled at what she does.
Her place is gorgeous, clean, safe, and comfortable.
Even through the discomfort of laser hair removal, we laugh, talk, and have a great time.

Bottom line– if you want an amazing technician who will make you feel comfortable and you want great results, skip the cheap stuff and go for the real thing.

Smooth Endings is such a find! Not only is Donna an excellent, professional aesthetician with years of training and experience, she is such a pleasure to be around! I’ve been seeing her for years now for various LHR treatments (with fabulous results!) and it always feels like going to see an old friend. The space is so inviting, comfortable, and spa-​like. She often has her sweet senior dog Thea there with her, adding to the homey feel. I feel so lucky to have found Donna and I don’t hesitate to recommend her or her work — simply the best!

I had waited a long time to get laser done because of its expense and because I didn’t believe it would really work. I finally decided to try it and Donna was incredibly warm and welcoming and made the whole experience very comfortable for me. Even better, after a single laser treatment about 90% of the hair was gone for good! I felt so good about the experience I am going back to do other areas.

Horrible experience with a Living Social deal. I paid for a bikini line and tried to make an appointment to cash it in about 2 months before it expired. She said I waited too long because you have to wait six weeks between lasers (huh? shouldn’t it be good to cash in until the expiration date?), then she rudely said she could squeeze two sessions in, but it would take another three sessions to do a whole bikini line, which would cost an additional $ 250. Gee, for that price I could go to a good place like Bare Necessities and not have to deal with this nasty person. So I asked for a refund. She refused. Living Social refused to even give me a credit. But my credit card didn’t refuse so they both can suck it. Do not recommend this scam artist and do not recommend Living Social while I’m at it.

I found Donna through a Living Social or similar deal. I won’t go into it, but there was some confusion on my end about the terms of the deal. I felt very much, in that interaction and during my office visits, that she treated me, as a «deal customer,» as a second class citizen. If she dislikes dealing with the less wealthy people who buy through deals, she shouldn’t offer in the first place. Also, I did my bikini line and it hurt so much I could barely speak. I went to another place (Art of Natural Beauty) to get the treatment finished and it didn’t hurt at all — didn’t feel a thing.
I see that others love Donna, and I am glad. I just wanted to put my story out there for others to take into consideration.

I have been so impressed with Donna and her business, that its impossible not to gush about her. I have been to her twice now for LHR in my bikini area. But let me first back up. Originally I had this done a few (about 6 years) ago at another place, with unfortunate results. I paid the same price (which was annoying considering that was many years ago) and had spots that got thinner, and disappeared for a little while. Unfortunately everything came back over time. I was also burned while the technician was rushing to get out of there at the end of the day.
Nevertheless, ingrown hairs are a pain in the arse and I knew laser would help them, so I took a chance. After my first session with Donna I was shocked. I waited 8 weeks for my next appointment and not a one hair grew back. I was so impressed that I decided on full brazilian for my second session instead of just bikini. Let me just fyi you, its not the most comfortable thing, but its actually very bearable, and Donna will go as fast/​slow or high/​low as you want. Shes very attentive and does her best to distract you with stories and conversation. (my personal advice is go fast and get it over with quickly!) Besides the amazing results, her prices are incredibly reasonable and her office is beautiful and comfortable.
Support local woman owned businesses! Its the right thing to do, and when they’re owned by someone as nice as Donna, there is just no reason to go elsewhere.
