Silk And Sheer- Laser Hair Removal

Total bait and switch. They lure you in with a low price and continuously jack up the prices month after month. Their treatments do not even work well. After six months of continuous treatments there are barely even any results.

This place is great the price is right the service is amazing. I have no hair left. I have tried 2 technicians both wonderful. The receptionist was very accommodating, helpful and friendly.

If I had not come here on a groupon deal, I would have been furiously disappointed. But because I didn’t spend the huge standard price for laser, I am only disappointed.
The only technician who does a thorough job in this establishment is Angela. If you do not have an appointment with her, do no go unless you’re having a simple, small, and flat area being treated. The other technicians I had gave me treatments that lasted less than 15 min and did NOT remove most of the hair. With Angela, all the hair fell out. Essentially, the appointments that I had without Angela were completely wasted. The 6 treatments I paid for would have been more than adequate to remove all the hair, but instead, I have patches because of the 3 out of 6 haphazard appointments I had.
Their secretarial staff can be rude, at times. They messed up my appointment. I travelled over an hour and had to take time off to go all the way to Coney Island just to find out that my appointment was not scheduled and they could not add me in. Even better, the receptionist repeatedly tried to blame me for «missing» my purported scheduled appointment on an earlier day (in which case, I would be charged for a full appointment). With no compensation or effort to even try to accommodate, I had to make the 1.5 hour trip BACK to the city, wasting another sick day.
I also find it funny that somehow all the bad reviews are «filtered» on Unilocal.Also, employees obviously writing the reviews because it sounds exactly like the sales pitch on their website: «effective and virtually painless… beautiful spa and most professional.» Hello?! Do you have nerve desensitisation? Laser hurts! Everyone who has lasered knows that! Be weary of any review that keeps emphasizing the place is gorgeous sparkling clean and completely painless. Same goes for citysearch and google reviews.
Finally, because of certain nice people at this establishment, I feel bad for writing this review. But honestly, I would not come back here. It is far. There’s only 1 good technician who is not always available during after-​work hours. And the reception’s rudeness and inability to look at a calendar makes me upset.
Oh, and I wanted to post this review long ago but did not because I kept wanting to give them another chance. I also did not want them to take revenge and burn me with the laser out of spite. They obviously love perusing their reviews and tampering with their ratings. Who knows, this review will probably be «filtered out» with all the other bad ones. Ridiculous.

Tried Manhattan location. It’s hard to make an appointment since they only opens Manhattan location once a week or so.
Once, I received VM to reconfirm my appointment, went there, they could not find my record. Had to wait extra 30 min for that.
Laser treatment was good. They use cold liquid to ease out the sensation. I have tried 3 other locations for laser treatment for different area, but this treatment is the most less painful. Treatment service is good.

Silk and Sheer offered Brazillian laser for men, but changed their policey mid-​treatment. I purchased 6 treatments. The first one was ok, but not a FULL Brazillian. I went for my second treatment and got what I expected. My third trip was as the first, essentially a bikini laser… no genitals. When I complained, they said it was their policy. This was the first time it had been brought up! When I explained that every other place I called included the genitals with their male Brazillian… which is the whole point. I was told I should go somewhere else then! My wife and I both called in advance to insure they offered Brazillian for men. We were both told, yes. Neither of us were told of their «no genitals» policy, which make it a bikini NOT a Brazillian! There was no consultation up front explaining this. Now I am faced with a splotchy treatment and VERY VERY unhappy with Silk and Sheer!

I called for an appointment and went in. The salon is gorgeous. Brand new and sparkling clean. Now for anyone that has done laser before you probably know what to expect, I did not and of course I jump right in with 2 feet and get a brazilian laser. Margaret took care of me from scheduling my appointmnet to actually doing my treatment. Let me just tell you this, She was an absolute doll. She was patient and kind, she answered all 345 of my questions without the slightest bit of annoyance, yeah I was a bit nervous ok?
Margaret is seriously into her job. She really wanted me to get a good result. If you could get passed the initial embrassament of laying there with no clothing on your bottom half (she did cover me with a blanket when possible) and then being turned over so she can put that laser where the sun don’t shine, then RUN to this salon. Their prices are excellent and they are swift without compromising results, I even went on my lunch hour. I will definitely be buying another package after my package runs out bc this laser was completely painless.

Honestly, I was a bit reluctant when I first came here (because it’s far from Manhattan! precisely 1 hour from my midtown office!!) BUT, it was more than worth effort and price.
Beautiful, spacious, and clean salon. And the lady who the treatment was remarkably good. Kind, friendly, and knowledgeable at the same time (she answered all my questions I had before the treatment, in detail).
I came here for a coupon deal (that’s why I did 1 hour trip) but they did really honest and good job. Maybe you might have an experience that you had mediocre treatment for a discount deal somewhere, BUT, this place is an exception. No joke strong pulse and serious attitude about eliminating every single hair on your body.
Even though the coupon deal was insanely good, their regular price also is still cheaper than most of the deals in Manhattan.
Will I come back even after the coupon deal? Of course I will.
But. if possible, I hope they can extend the weekend hour or weekday after work hour so ppl working in Manhattan can make it to the appointment time more easily!!!
