The drinks are DELICIOUS! but the food… is extremely salty. I thought it was me at first but the lady sitting next to me ordered the same thing and had the waiter bring her almost everything on the menu because it was all too salty.

I was at the museum for a night event and was starving. Stopped in and had an incredible meal! Service was on point, cocktails were amazing and the food was even better. I loved my meal and had a great time visiting. I was really impressed by the bar tender than walked over to my table and talked to me about the cocktail she made. I will be back for sure!

Amazing brunch! Everything is seriously delicious with a lot of thought put into each dish. The eggs benedict was particularly excellent: the sweat pea purée, a honey drizzled fresh baked biscuit and stringy cheese all adding to a classic, making it seriously decadent. The home fries are crazy. Fried and extra crispy, then tossed in a garlic and herb oil. Also the pastries are something special… if you don’t get the croissant with nutella you’re a maniac. Iced Brooklyn Roasting Company coffee deserves a call out too. Deep, deep nutty and chocolaty flavour. All that on their outside terrace in the summer sun and you’ve easily got one of the best brunches in Brooklyn.

Went here earlier today and had one of the worst experience I ever had in any restaurant. My girlfriend and I felt like we was being pranked. We had 9pm reservations arrive almost 20mins early got seated right away and then waited and waited and waited some more about 5 after 9m we finally got water but that was totally by mistake because he ask which did we ask for again Tap or Bottle I told the server no one ever came over and we be sitting here for a while. He ran and got us tap and apologize but that went only so far because another 5 mins went by and no one came over. We attempted twice to wave at any server but no such luck we decided obviously we aren’t wanted here so we got up and left. Mind you the place wasn’t busy couldn’t have been more than 5 – 6 tables at most 20 people where the couple to our right looked done already.

I was so exhausted after seeing one exhibit I had to stop in Saul to quench my thirst. OK, I wanted drink and why the heck not. Very nice place, not too big not too small. Since we only came for one drink I didn’t get a chance to try the food. So don’t judge the 4 stars as a dig. Nice bar, great service, excellent drink. Black Beauty($ 13) — Strong and sweet. What more could you ask for. It was so pretty I didn’t want to mess it up, but you kinda have to in order to balance the alcohol and mixer. Hidden Agenda($ 13) — another great drink Spicy from the cinnamon, but not hot. We had a nice buzz going on after we left.

The first Michelin-starred restaurant I’ve ever been to. Amazing day at the museum topped off of the dinner tasting menu here. The crispy pork belly and blood sausage stood out.

We just had scrumptious brunch at Saul. Short rib was fantastic, and they brought us Prosecco when we had to move. Overall, the service is what earns it 5 stars. Just the right level of attentive, these folks are the real deal in service. Thank you for a great meal!

I was at Brooklyn Museum today with a friend. We got hungry and looked at the cafeteria food and it looked so unappealing. So we decided to give Saul a shot. We ordered poached egg for starter and then salmon. Lemon curd for dessert. Bear in mind we have not had breakfast and this was our first meal of the day. Food was very tasty and service was great. Two hours later we both started sweating and we’ve been literally on the toilet for most of today. There was something very wrong with this meal. We both suffered from same symptoms and we ordered same exact dishes.

This was a complete disappointment. Please do not eat here, unless small portions and leaving the table hungry is your goal. The tables and chairs are of poor quality and the cost of a meal here should cover the cost of purchasing high quality furniture. We ordered the grilled octopus and white bean soup to start. The octopus was overdone and therefore tough and not enjoyable. The white bean soup was comparable to a can of Progresso. We had the diver’s scallops and the Bronzino and while the entrees tasted much better. They were appetizer portions and not in the least it filling. Our waitress was not necessarily rude, instead weird in her behaviors and never came back to check in on how we were or asked if we needed anything further. I would not recommend this as a option. There are much better restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Believe it or not they look down upon walk ins and prefer that you have a reservation. Once we got home my husband made himself a sandwich.

Convenient location, delicious brunch(best polenta I’ve ever had), and quietly excellent service(water glasses were always full, servers were attentive but not hovering). I appreciated the roomy, uncrowded dining room and that despite going on a buzzy Saturday afternoon, we were not at all rushed out. 5 stars for food, but 4 for décor. It could use some updating and looks a little too much like a typical museum cafeteria. I would expect something slightly cooler/chicer for Brooklyn.

I was at Saul last weekend, the brunch is fantastic, a nice twist from the usual. I had curry prawn, delicious. The biscuits with the crème fraiche was so rich yet tangy. As for the restaurant itself, it’s sooo nice and different from the regular«museum cafeteria». Service was impeccable.

Today we visit Saul for a girl’s day out and had a superb Sunday brunch. The place is nice and cozy. I liked that like other places, here, the tables are not one on top of the other, giving you a sense of comfort and privacy. I ordered the curry shrimp, it was just delicious. They served it with rice and caramelized eggplant. The service is outstanding! The wine list is very good and the difference is defenetly made by the maître who knows very well what to advice when like us, are not familiar with so many options.

Cons: Plates insanely small. Slow service. Super expensive… Pros: Great for a special occasion where the main concern is the ambience. Great staff it was perfect for our Christmas Eve dinner. My husband and our 2 lo’s went for the feast of the 7 fishes. We were pretty full by the end,& the food was delicious. For us the portions and price are exactly what we were expecting. The staff was very accommodating. Disclaimer: w plates that small you need @ least 7 diff dishes to become ‘almost sort of full’. W their prices you must spend @ least $ 300 to even think about satiation. For a special occasion where the ambiance and location matter, great place. Otherwise there are def other places w similar prices that serve just a bit more food & have faster service.

Second(and last!) visit to Saul; took a friend for Sunday brunch for her birthday. To summarize — I left hungry. High prices for very little food. Service was as i’d expect at a diner not a quality restaurant; had to keep asking for things and long waits for some. We were hungry when we sat down so asked for bread and were told they don’t serve bread with brunch; how much more rediculous can you get? But, if we wanted they can prepare an order of toast. Well, two slices of toast, each cut in half were served but no butter or oil. When the bill came they had the nerve to charge $ 3 for 2 slices of toast! My mimosa was in the smallest glass possible; again with a hefty charge. I ordered a mushroom frittata; I received an egg custard with a couple mushrooms on top. No way was this a frittata, and no way did I want a sweet custard-like egg dish. There were 2 very small cubes and a few green leaves on the plate. My meal was not satisfying at all. My friend ordered steak & eggs. She was happy with her food, although there wasn’t much of it on the plate. To add insult, the chairs are very uncomfortable — too short in the thigh and slippery. I had to brace myself against one of the table legs to keep from sliding off the chair. This was my 2nd visit to Saul; I had the same negative experience on the first one, but it was my friend’s birthday, and we wanted to see the Killer Heels exhibit so eating in the museum made sense. I will not go back again. What I don’t understand is how people get suckered in to eat in a place where they’re overcharged and underfed.

Saul’s is upscale in a much-needed actual restaurant inside the café. It fits the fancy. They have a menu to accommodate large groups for dinner with a kind prix-fixe sampler that’s affordable. I can’t wait to come back for brunch. The Stiletto is a drink that pays homage to the current exhibition, and I hope it stays on the menu. It’s made with rye, cranberry & strawberry, and sparkling wine, and it’s out of this world.

We had a reservation for lunch and the hostess showed us to our table. Our sever came over promptly and answered questions. Bread was delivered to our table before water, which was a little weird but I didn’t think anything of it til the rest of the service was rather disjointed. Overall the food was good and a few of the dishes were very good. Two of us had the price fix appetizer/main course lunch and one of us ordered two appetizers. When placing the order the waiter asked if she wanted both together? It was sort of weird since obvious one could be coursed as an appetizer and the other a main dish so she would not be sitting there with nothing to eat while the rest of us had two courses? Also my friend ordered two cocktails with her meal and both were served to me, the service was really off despite a really nice waiter. It was pretty dead in the resturaunt so I cant imgaine being there when busy. The time between the appetizer and the main courses was very long. I mean really long and never did the server come over to apologize, which I thought was odd. When I inquired upon the wait time, my main course came out and about 5 minutes later my friends came out, was I supposed to eat mine solo or wait for my friends, it was all very disjointed and weird. The actual food was overall good. The octopus was good but there was very little octopus on the plate — mostly tomato and overall the dish was very acidic. One piece of the octopus was so chewy I could not get through it. Overall the scallops and chicken were the two stand out dishes of the meal. The scallop dish had three small sized scallops– the portion size of this dish was especially disappointing. I also really enjoyed the hamachi also. Overall the portion sizes were on the really small side, I have to say I really noticed the portion sizes to cost ratio. The sizes of the dishes really drew my attention to the hefty price tag for our overall ehh lunch. Lunch for the three of us with one person having two drinks came to $ 125 or so and to be honest that is really expensive for a lunch, in my world. It was fine and somethings were good but overall I won’t go back, much better options around the museum for a lot less money. I had high hopes and expectations and sadly they were not met. Really, don’t believe the hype.

We had a reservation. We were seated promptly. The staff were warm and attentive and service was great and atmosphere was fine and we had a good meal — it just wasnt great food. I would def come back to give it another chance but on my visit the grub couldnt justify the cost or the hype. Maybe because they were slammed — it was the night of the Killer Heels opening. They didnt have enough food I guess — they turned the duck dish that night into a duck confit to make it spread farther after running out of two entrees. The duck confit was a a variation on their regular dish — yummy but very salty. not a generous portion. The octopus was good but there was very little octopus on the plate — mostly wedges of eggplant — all of it around room temp. And compared to the octopus at Bergen Hill it was nothing to sing about… come to think of it, the appetizer octopus from my local unpretentious italian neon-sign bearing restaurant Lisola is a a more generous tastier octopus dish for a fraction of the price. Maybe Sauls octopus is usually better. Maybe they were running out of octopus that night too? I did liked the beef. I will need to give this place another shot on a night when they are less crazy and can update this. I wasnt unhappy with the meal really, just surprised nothing was super awesome.

Alert: I had never dined at the original location.(I know I should have my Brooklyn membership card revoked or something) Was pretty excited for the Brooklyn Museum as a fine dining establishment was non-existent for awhile. The new café looks pretty upgraded here. Mom and I came a few Fridays ago. The only thing I will say that I had heard that proved to be true prior to our visit: the museum staff/guard who is en-tasked with staying in the museum to direct people to the restaurant does not seem super psyched about their job. I don’t need bubbly but somewhat animated would be helpful. Made a reservation on-line and it happened to be Brooklyn restaurant week. Mom and I discussed that we were not ordering from that menu as their always seems to be kind of a cookie cutter quality to the food(at most restaurants I have found) They have a tasting menu which we considered but ultimately decided to just order what we wanted. I got the parsnip soup-yum. Mom had the beet salad and when I saw that horseradish was one of the ingredients I was like hmmm. Let me tell you I had a few bites and it was DELICIOUS. They somehow got the horseradish flavor in the salad without it being too harsh. Mom had the scallop entrée(Yum-also I wanted that too but you can’t order the same thing BORING) I had the monk fish. I think my only previous experience with monk fish was at a diner in Wildwood, NJ in 1987 probably not the best example. The brussell sprouts in it were SO good. For Dessert I had the panna cotta because I was starting to feel full. It was good. Mom had what I think was the highlight of the entire night which was the Chocolate and Chocolate. It was this amazingly plated micro portion of each item and was super scrumptious. Saul has a nice atmosphere considering it was put into a preexisting space in the Museum.(the bathroom is the bathroom in the lobby everyone uses which is kinda meh but it’s a bathroom it serves its function) Will definitely return possibly for Brunch.

KenScale: 8.0÷10 Saul is a newly opened New American restaurant from Saul Bolton in the Brooklyn Museum after operating on Smith Street for 14 years. I had high expectations knowing that the restaurant in its original location has been one of the beloved institutions in Brooklyn. Overall, the restaurant was pretty solid, but I would give higher scores to dessert than the main dinner. I started out with salad of baby beets and charred Spanish octoupus(with nduja, lentils, house pickles). The salad was delicious, and the octopus was tender, but nothing memorable there. The main dishes consisted of Maine diver scallops(with glazed beans, cipollini onions, romaine) and dry aged squab(with roasted carrots, almonds, spiced yogurt). Scallops were the weakest dish of the night, as they were simply too overdressed with salt that made them almost inedible. I did like the squab, cooked medium rare, that had pretty uniqeu texture. Desserts happened to be the highlight of the meal, as I indulged myself endlessly over the decadent baked Alaska(with chocolate semifreddo, coffee caramel, banana rum cake) and smooth panna cotta(with seckel pears, pomegranate sherbet, sesame tuile). It is relatively easy to score a reservation here. The restaurant has that vibe of a Museum restaurant but perhaps a little more casual and toned down than the Modern restaurant at MoMa. It has a full bar, with some tasty cocktails(my favorite was scotch based Highland Sage). I’m not sure how great the original restaurant was, but I do think this restaurant is a solid choice after a tour at the Brooklyn Museum, especially if the execution of the food improves over time.
