This place is great. Very rough around the edges, and inside the edges also, but I went here to see one of my favorite bands so I had no complaints. I’m a cocktail girl so their drinks aren’t exactly tailored to my tastes, but they do the job for a rock show. They’re true to themselves and once I heard wavves I didn’t care what I was drinking. Nathan also dove into the crowd and was then carried through the ENTIRE venue, all the way to the front of the bar. So a perfect score for that unbelievable moment. There were also randomly cinderblocks for me to stand on at the back of the floor, and at 5’2″, this was pleasing to me.

If you like rock clubs and you like your shows in a somewhat intimate setting, this is the place for you. It’s kind of like half a rock club and half a bar so you can choose the vibe you want. I dig the bar and the bands they get are always great. If you’re over 30, bring earplugs. It’s loud and you might be too old. Hands down my fave spot in Brooklyn and all of NY for that matter.

Gets great bands, good sound, and a cleaner punk/metal bar than you would ever expect.

If a band you like is going to play there, just go! No question about it. We had the pleasure of seeing Eagles of Death Metal there; it was like a private show. Drinks are good(i.e. strong) and reasonably priced. The space is comfortable and doesn’t feel like you’re packed in like sardines. All in all, a special venue, the kind that are tending to close in gentrified NYC. Support this special place!

Everything you want in a NY bar/music venue! Fair prices, cool staff, great shows. It tends to get crowded, but they seem to have enough bar staff to keep up. Fun decorations, loud music… I’ll be back for sure!

It’s been a minute since I have been out in Greenpoint, especially this close to the water. Saint Vitus never disappoints when it comes to it’s booking. They have a very consistently solid roster of bands. The space is what makes it for me. I love live events and for a little over a decade I have seen hundreds of shows in various venues and Saint Vitus is perfect layout for seeing a show. Its almost hidden amongst the neighborhood shops and bodegas like ‘God Bless The Deli 2′. After a simple hallway entrance, it opens into a bar. The bar is part of the draw in my opinion. The entire space is split between the bar and the event space with a clear opening, giving you the option of geek-ing out to a band up close or enjoying at bar wile sipping a beer. The prices are pretty good for a live venue. On the cheapest side is the PBR tallboy for $ 6. Last night I saw King Dude, his performance was great and was highlighted by the space. The open layout allowed me to stroll between the bar and the stage comfortably and enjoy the music as I chose. I was also able to easily go in and out to have a smoke. Outside of one bartender(apparently have a bad night) being a d@#k to my girlfriend, I always enjoy seeing a show here. If your a Metal fan I recommend coming to see a show here.

Only 3 stars for one reason: not enough seats. Lots of people here and only a fraction can sit. Otherwise, nice neighborhood. Inside is dark, candlelit, black. Not in a freakish way, but very cozy. Concert area has great sound. Drinks reasonably priced, little in the way of food that I saw. Bartenders weren’t super chatty, but they were cordial enough and fast with the drinks. My favs though we’re the bouncers. Super sweet, helpful and friendly.

Despite the lack of a coat check, I have to tell you Saint Vitus is the most amazing heavy metal venue I’ve ever been to. Its small but very enjoyable to see some great bands. Most of us are here for the music of course. I saw the Devastation on the Nation tour here. Oh my Lord so amazing. The definition of a true Death Metal show with a bunch of different spins on the genre. Krisiun and Aeon were amazing BTW. Now I don’t drink alcholol that much at all, but the most basic drinks like Budwiser are affordable. Plus you can get special beer flavors also based off Heavy Metal bands. Tops to the mixologist. Plus, water is free! Irving Plaza and Gramercy Theater can learn a thing or two on how to make quality drinks from Saint Vitus Overall do yourself a favor, if you wanna windown with some drinks and go see some Heavy Metal bands head to Saint Vitus. Its closed off from the rest of Brooklyn and its on the border of Queens so its pretty easy to travel to. Plus many of the shows are under $ 40 and the drinks are very cheap. So please, if you have a love for Heavy Metal. Go to this place. That is all.

One of the last places to drink and rock out to music without running into finance bros and Martha’s Vineyard douches. Pretty expensive for a dive bar, but if that’s what it takes for St. Vitus to remain in business, so be it. One of the older chics who works the door needs to chill, however.

When Unilocal poses a question to me «What keeps you coming back?», I have to answer. I just love this place. Every show I’ve attended has been a blast. It has the magic ability to be a place to see an intimate show without tripping over people(or things). It also comes equipped with a great sound system. Sometimes I come here just to get a drink and listen to what is on their playlist. The staff has been nothing by helpful and friendly. And the space is BEAUTIFUL!

Greatest bar in NYC. Great music, great steamed buns, and great whiskey.

One of the best bars/venues in NYC. Besides the vast amount of shows that are now held here the aesthetic has remained gorgeous since opening. As a grown lady going to metal shows you will feel totally safe here, the gents running this place will make sure of it! I will miss living so close.

This bar is incredibly and awesomely metal. Easy to miss from the outside since there is just a section of the block painted totally black. I dig. Beer+shot combos are highly excellent, especially recommend the Pope: tallboy of PBR(I think) w/a pickleback. For a divey place the tap selection is surprisingly eclectic, and prices are good. I started off with their own Saint Vitus lager, refreshing and eminently drinkable. The buns here were great. They come in a steamed bao that they keep in a rice cooker, haha. I usually get the cheesesteak and kielbasa. Cheesesteak is tender and moist, kielbasa is juicy, smokey and sauerkrauty, they get topped off with a cheese mayo spicy sauce. The portion is a little dainty for a balls to the wall venue like this, but I can’t really complain. The bands they book are the real deal. I usually turn up for the old school death metal and black metal acts. This is a club stage for bands that made themselves on club stages. \m/

After getting off the 7, we crossed a sketchy bridge, saw a beautiful New York sunset, and came to a black unmarked door that led to a bar that holds metal concerts. I came with some low expectations because I’m not a fan of metal music, but I was very pleasantly surprised with the concert I saw here. We came when doors opened, so we were able to stand in the bar area and have some drinks and food before the concert started. They had a number of beers on draft including their signature Saint Vitus lager, which was light, refreshing, and summery. The buns seemed great and were $ 4 each(but 2 for $ 7 and 3 for $ 10), but they were just okay. I’m sure they’d be wonderful after a few drinks, but the pulled pork and steak were tough and lacked some flavor. It was very DIY and cute that the buns were neatly stacked and kept warm in a rice cooker, though. I was very impressed with the concert area and the crowd. Have you ever been to a metal concert? Mosh pits and grime are almost a guarantee! Yet, this venue had a surprisingly clean floor and audience members who kept to their circles of personal space and only lightly bobbed their heads. It was a really great experience even for the uninitiated. Even when a very, very experimental string quartet played as one of the opening acts, everyone was supportive and respectful. Likelihood of another visit: It’s pretty likely, actually. FYI: They also have Karaōke Nights and metal yoga!

I came to see This Will Destroy You and this bar embodies the word METAL. The venue is small and intimate but they didn’t oversell so even when everyone came out of the woodwork(after the openers) it never got too uncomfortable. The drinks were great, and I was introduced to the pickle-back which may be my new favorite whiskey shot. I also had some of the house beer which sat well with me. This place also totally destroyed my(erroneous) pre-concieved notion of the metal scene, everyone was really friendly and relaxed. Definitely gonna be checking their calender for what other bands I may be able to catch here.

#Been here a few times, but only once for a #concert. #Awesome venue for music. The #first band had bass that sounded like #Faith No More and the sound was really good. I like how the #audience was really into all three bands. Very attentive. It was like they were there to hear #music. Everyone’s head bobbed forward in #perfect sync. #Pulled Pork Bun was tasty.

The realest metal bar out there. If you’re ready to throw your devil horns in the air and bang your head this is THE spot to do it in. One secret for the timid and/or uninitiated; metal heads are some of the most decent and fun-loving peeps you’ll ever hang with. The scariest dude in this bar may accidentally step on your toe but more likely than not he’ll swing around with the most genuine apology you’ll ever receive. Come to Saint Vitus, see your favorite metal band in an intimate venue with a great sound, and drink your fill from the friendly bartenders. I saw Manilla Road last night and it blew mt head apart!

A place booking shows that you want to see, only downfall is they normally sell out. So as long as you buy tickets for XYZ’s only east coast show– first appearance in years– secret show then you are in good shape. With good sound and drinks its not the worst place to be. Just a tip with the G train being closed this summer its only a short walk from the Vernon Jackson stop off the 7train. Oh and I would just pass on the food but hey it needs to have some downfall.

It’s everything you could want in a metal bar. For being relatively new, the place has an old soul vibe. nonsense bartenders. Friendly music staff & even some tasty treats(the BUNS). The location is what will keep this spot true to their core fans… its a trek. If you happen to be within walking distance, consider this your metal mecca. Nothing I can think of comes close aside from Duff’s, but they don’t host live performances. Going between the two would be one hell of a bar crawl.
