Listen, I’ve been to France. I know for a fact that you can get amazing wine for less than 10 dollars a bottle. I find it so frustrating that it seems to be generally accepted in New York that decent wine costs at least twice that much. I know that there are, like, customs and stuff, but I simply refuse to pay that much for all my wine! Some wine sure, but not ALL MY WINE. I’m European. I drink more wine than I can afford with prices like that.
So there are two choices: Drink less wine than I want to (TRAGEDY!) or find cheaper wine.
Enter Prime Time Liquors. Great selection, very clearly labelled and organized in a straightforward manner. Nice European wines, but also plenty from the New World. I have become quite partial to the natural red and white wines from California (forget the names, but there are only one or two of each). They’re around 10 – 11 dollars a bottle and absolutely delicious.
Oh, and this shop, unlike certain others in Park Slope that I could mention, have friendly staff who don’t treat you like you have a big dog poo on your shoe. Hey, not all French things are great!
Hello again, everyday drinking. How I missed you.

I stumbled in this liquor store in hopes to find a nice bottle of dessert wine to give as a gift. After searching online, a lot of the wine stores were not open until 10 or 12. I was hoping to purchase a bottle before work. When I was in the bank across the street, and saw an open liquor store, in my mind I thought: JACKPOT!
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted. Definitely a positive, not uncomfortable vibe here like most liquor stores.
Prices seem to be reasonable.
A gentleman named Alex helped me to make a selection. I am new to dessert wines, and wasn’t as knowledgable about them. He was very clear, and helpful.
In the end, he even offered to gift wrap for me. It was a pleasant surprise. I thought I would have to run to get a wine bag.

I just bought a nice bottle of wine and im very pleased with it the guy at the register was super helpful and extremly knowledgeable on wine i was very impress. Will defiently be going again.

Friendly, knowledgable staff, and solid wine and liquor selection at some of the best prices in this neighborhood. I rarely walk out of my way for anything, but I do for this place. Free delivery on cases too!

This is basically my go-​to spot in the hood when I’m looking to get my drink on. It’s very close to me, has convenient hours, fair prices, a nice selection and friendly staff. That equals a win in my book. If you are a hardcore oenophile, you may want to look elsewhere for a broader and more impressive wine selection, but theirs is pretty good. I can always find something interesting, and have actually snagged a few real gems here unsuspectingly. Whomever is doing the buying here has a pretty solid pulse on stocking good QPR (quality price ratio) wines, which is always appreciated.
They also have a wide variety of spirits, and I can pretty much always find the particular brand I’m looking for. From vodka and gin to tequila, scotch and bourbon (and beyond), I suspect you will find what you need here, too. They do not carry green chartreuse or some of the other more exotic/​rare spirits, but beyond that, they’ve got it all. Over the holidays, they actually had one bottle each of the über rare and hard to find Van Winkle bourbons (the 10, 15 and 20 year varieties, I believe), which I was extremely shocked and impressed by. Sadly, they were all outside of my spending zone, but it was great to know that they are sourcing stuff like that.
All in all, this is a great neighborhood liquor store and I recommend checking them out if you like drinking as much as I do. Cheers!

Prime Time is pretty quality for a number of reasons: A. It is across the street from my old gym (rip NYSC) B. It’s right next to the f/​g train. Hey, now, hey! C. It’s variety in both spirits and wines is greater than most mom and pop wine stores in the neighborhood and they don’t charge you an extra buck for being a cutesy mom and pop liquor store. Unpretentious, helpful, and cheap. All wonderful things. Always a good stand by. Always seems to be open, even during hurricanes. Even during New Years. I remember. It was appreciated.

As an icy wind blasted into my face today while I walked up 5^th Av, I proclaimed «You know what I need right now? A hot chocolate with a shot of baileys». And as if a light from the heavens opened up, I looked up at the street signs and realized I was standing in front of Prime Time. It was meant to be.
This is my go to spot for libations. Best prices in the hood. Good selection, nice folks. You know what I’m sipping right now as I write this review? Yeah baby, spiked hot chocolate. Thanks PTL.

Best wine store in town! Excellent selection and prices. Also, the guys that work here are nice and knowledgeable.

Not my favorite spot but it always works. Kind of dirty but what should you expect?

1) pretty good selection of wines at different price points
2) unintimidating and helpful staff
3) i was allowed to bring my pup into the shop
4) the bearded guy gave my pup a treat
5) the two guys i’ve seen working here are both cute ;)
the only down side is that they’re closed on sundays.

Great prices, helpful staff. They have a fridge in the back with chilled wines.

Roll out of bed.
Step over the people passed-​out in the hall.
Think about finding your pants.
Slice half a cucumber into glasses, and top it all off with Hendricks Gin and seltzer.
Mmmm…pants.
Lunch:
Slice-​up the other half of the cucumber and drop it in a refreshing swirl of Pimms botanicals! It’s like taking a nose-​dive into the Queen Mum’s fascinator during Wimbledon!
Pants? Be glad you could find the other half of the cucumber.
High Fucking Tea:
Enjoy a proper British tea… by skipping the tea all-​together and sipping a tumbler of Laphroiag 10-​Year. ‘Cause, sod it! The aromas of smoke, horse leather and motor-​oil will take you right to the head of the parade… without your pants.
Yes, prime time is fit for the Queen of England… when she’s drunk.

Also, the staff are rather reserved… not unlike the royal entourage.

Where I go to re-​up.
Not the greatest selection ever, particularly for high end stuff, but more than adequate. Staff are really cool and helpful if you’re looking for something specific, and they’ve a decent wine selection.
