Went for eggnog the day after Christmas… and it’s closed :(

The perfect spot for a relaxing, casual meal while still enjoying some tasty food. The servers were a great balance of attentive/chilled out and the drink menu was extensive. Also happened to go here on a Sunday evening and they had the football games on the TV so extra point for that. If I lived around here, this would be my spot for sure. As it is, I’ll just have to come back for a visit every now and again…

Popcorn bar! Love this place. It feels like where the locals go. I consider myself a local. No pretense. Just friendly bar keep. Good beer selection. Big spacious bar. And… Free popcorn. They just give it away.

How have I never reviewed Pete’s Waterfront Ale House? I love this place. I’m obsessed with the fries — some of the best I’ve had in NYC. Bartenders and waiters are friendly. Food is bangin’ + the house-made apple cinnamon shots(especially in the winter) are to.die.for.

Decided upon the Brooklyn location checking out places for dinner one night, so lucky to have stumbled in! The menu might read very pedestrian, basic BBQ, burgers, etc, but there is a serious chef in that kitchen! The food comes out so much better than it should in a casual neighborhood restaurant. Since the initial visit, we’ve made this place a go-to when we’re in this part of Brooklyn, the specials tend to be a great and really unique. On a recent visit I had a chicken mushroom burger, which was a patty made of ground chicken and mushrooms, super flavorful and not like anything else I’ve tried. The hand cut fries are delicious, ask for the house-made hot sauce and ketchup. Also great selection of tap-beers and wine by the glass. Did I mention free popcorn? Yay Pete’s!

Smoked turkey breast w/maytag blue and bacon SUCKS! Not worth $ 14.98. Basically deli turkey over heated in microwave, covered with horrible cheese(I think it was cheese) that smelled like puke, and topped w/oscar meyer bacon. To make matters worse while I was trying to eat it bartender asked me «how is that I never seen anyone eat that» ok thank you I figured since it was listed as one of today’s special people would have eaten it. He try to recoup by giving me some shi##y fruit shot. Which I gave away. If your hungry stay away

I really enjoyed this place. Welcoming feel and unique style. Sat at the bar. We were in town and wanted to find a local spot, glad we came across this by accident. Great selection of top shelf stuff along with unique appetizers and food. Service was exceptional by pony-tailed guy(sorry been awhile and can’t remember his name)

I was here back in October with friends while I was craving German food. They had a great menu with the traditional dishes. Their beer list was great, not overwhelming but had several yummy choices. The service was good and all the food was delicious. Servings were good sized as well. A solid joint to come by.

Very good selection of beers on tap, and there are new comers every so often, like 2 Roads. Excellent pulled pig sandwich, and I recommend their fries(excellent crisp outside and mash potatoey inside, great color too). Nachos with Texas chili is excellent too, but wish they had guacamole too. Just shy of perfect. Great service and nice comfortable bar atmosphere without strollers and modern bar gimmicks.

I really like Pete’s. It’s a straight up neighborhood bar, nothing fancy. Nice staff, free popcorn, awesome fries, well poured Guinness! One Friday I came in for a Guinness with my sweetie and they were out! Devastating, right? The bartender was so awesome, she gave us a round of Stellas on the house.

We visited this establishment one fine Friday night. The staff was friendly and happy, but came to the table extremely rarely and we had to «chase them down» as it could go thirty minutes in between visits. You’d think they would have wanted to sell us a second drink right? The hand-cut french fries and homemade ketchup(curry flavored?) was amazing, but again I had to chase them down to get more than a small amount of ketchup(the fries were nearly gone by the time I got it). The venison burger was also quite good, but I don’t feel that it was worth the price tag. Wings were meh(dry and under-flavored). Drinks were a wee bit overpriced. My date did not enjoy the popcorn at all :( If not for the service we’d be back as we come to this neighborhood often. However, the lackluster service has driven us away. The pub was not crowded and had plenty of staff, but they preferred to schmooze with the regulars and the cuties instead of serving us(and another couple we ran into who had the same experience). Expect to drive around for a little bit looking for a parking spot.

Friendly and low-key with a great beer selection. It’s basically one big room, a little bit more bright than ideal for a bar. To the left are tables for dining; to the right, the bar. The food is fine in a bar-ish kind of way; this isn’t fine dining, and no one’s acting like it is. A huge selection of beers is on a chalkboard on the wall, and apparently it changes often. I asked for the beer of the week, «Chelsea Pumpkin Pie,» and the waitress told me it tasted exactly like pumpkin pie, which wasn’t really what I had in mind. I saw another beer on the board with the work«Punkin» [sic] in the name and asked about that. She was very informed about it and even brought me a small taste. The crowd seemed mixed between regulars and visitors, and that free popcorn machine sure does make the room smell good. I noticed it wasn’t a young crowd, 30s and up, yet the warm and unhurried feel made it seem sort of like a college hangout.

This may look like a casual neighborhood place, but it consistently churns out great food & interesting drinks. Hint: go for the burger, the brisket, or the special(s). Any special will do.

NY Social League fucked up when they chose a crappy bar and redeemed themselves when Pete’s became the designated bar for post game beverages in the end! I love coming here to celebrate our victories over a cold pint. Being Brooklyn Heights, this place is a little more upscale. But the drinks and food are good. Their fries with melted cheese and jalapenos is addictive. The service is friendly and quick — exactly what is needed after running up and down a pitch for too long in the heat! You done good, Pete.

This place just seriously never fails me. It doesn’t matter who I take there, they always love it. Today I went with a group, and Pete’s was ON. But then, they are always on. People who complain about the«rundown» ambiance of this place are completely missing the point that that is what makes it such a comfortable, easy place to be. Coming from a long day at the beach or pool? Dirty, sweaty and wearing inappropriate clothing? Pete’s don’t care! Just relax. That’s what it’s all about. And I have never experienced anything here that would indicate that the kitchen or bar are anything but clean and well-cared for. The music can be a little weird and inconsistent but whatever, when I’m eating here all I can think about is how f*cking amazing my food is. Just a few things for this update: Sweet potato fries. Jesus. I don’t even like sweet potato fries that much. But these are just incredible. Mashed potatoes: delicious. BBQ chicken: spot on as always. Crispy skin, tender meat, perfect smokiness, perfect sauce. Chicken breast with grilled vegetables: so much more than one would ever expect from the mundane title of this menu item. It was devoured. Then, the crowning glory, my reason for living: the bread pudding. If I was religious I would say that only a god could create bread pudding this luscious and dreamy. It’s like the chef plucked a cloud from the heavens and baked it with cinnamon and eggs and cream and then covered it with sugary sweet milk from the mother-of-god-herself before torching — Wait, that was kinda gross. Sorry, but it’s so good it causes me to make terrible word choices on Unilocal.I blame the bread pudding.

Things This Place Has Going For It. 1. Damn good name. I’m not sure it gets any better. 2. An excellent burger. 3. Sixpoint Brownstone, just one of many choice options in their stellar beer selection. 4. Great bartenders. This could be my bar. After all, I’ve always wanted my very own waterfront ale house. Even if it isn’t on the water.

Once again, SO hungry before finally settling on this place. It’s an Indian, Irish pub. Interesting vibe. Randoms watching soccer, dad with his little girl, old lady having a beer by herself. Very eclectic… one of the many reasons I love New York. Food was ok. Tried: –Chickpea and chorizo soup: Yum! –Bloody mary — yuk! My friend thinks they use Clamato, which gave it an off taste to me. –Beef dip with fries: Yum! Thick slabs of beef served with an excellent au jus. Fries were nice and crispy. –Friend had a veggie burger with Indian flavors, very good as well. Oh, and they have a wall of hot sauces, which is basically my wet dream come true!

Nice pub. Did the trick. Met up with some friends and found ourselves a nice cozy booth and a friendly waiter. My review is strictly on drinks. The coffee and baileys(its actually not Bailes, but the waiter explained it to me-it was great though) was very good and in a tall glass. However, wasn’t thrilled pay 40 bones for 4 patrons. All the other local pubs our Brooklyn heights friends wanted to show us were closed the day AFTER new years(come on you’re a bar!!!) so kudos to them for being open.
