Park Slope Family Eye Care

This was the smoothest and fastest appointment I’ve ever had to get an eye exam. No pressure to get glasses; the receptionist was efficient and sped me through the process because she knew I was in a rush; doctor was friendly and thorough. Amazing.

Dr. Arthur is always very courteous, professional, and takes the time to answer all of my questions. The staff is also very pleasant and helpful. Office is always clean and bright.

This place is truly exceptional. I go there for all my contact/​eye wear needs. I get accurate prescriptions and comfortable contacts (no matter how many trials it takes:). All of the staff — from the front desk to the doctors– are very friendly and helpful. I finally caved and bought a nice pair of sunglasses there and they hell me keep them in shape!

Professional, Stress free, pleasant, great medical care! I’ve been a patient from the time the office has been opened. Always get the help I need, no waiting in line. My kids are the patients too. All their questions (!!!) are always answered in understandable manner by the doctor! I like that all issues and/​or treatments are always explained and taken care on time. There is a good choice of frames too! I do keep my appointments at least for 2 times a year. Thanks for providing quality service! keep up the good work:)

This started off very promising with a very good eye exam and an order placed for three months worth of contacts. To my dismay after receiving money from me the service and quality of care turned to garbage. I began using my new contacts and noticed that several of one eye were torn and even when they were in good condition were painful for no reason. Upon closer inspection they had supplied me with contact lenses clearly labeled as expired on the box. Not only did they refuse to refund me for a product they should never have sold me in the first place, I also had the pleasure of listening to them explain to me why providing contacts that are not expired is not their responsibility. Upon responding to this claim I was abruptly hung up on by the staff and no return call received. They did not even send me my prescription and medical records which i think might even be a breach of HIPPA law.

Dr. Arthur Bukhatetsky — great guy… even a better doctor! Let me preface by saying I have a pretty complex eye care history, which includes several surgeries and being dependent on glasses/​contacts for over 15 years. So I’ve been through my share of chop shop doctors eager to get the most out of you by throwing around complicated medical terms and pretending to care. Dr. B resides on the opposite side of that spectrum. He is very knowledgeable and thorough, addresses every concern you possibly have and takes the time to explain everything in detail. He doesn’t only ensure you get the correct prescription, but will not let you leave until you have aligned on the best possible solution/​treatment to fit your health, comfort level and lifestyle! The guy truly cares about his patients! He’s also a great diagnostician as he helped me identify a long existing issue that several other doctors completely missed. The office is clean, efficient and the staff is pleasant and also very knowledgeable. Nothing better than seeing all smiles with your new ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision! Do yourself a favor and go see him at Park Slope Family Eye Care.

I’m a new patient and met with Dr. Straton last week. She was very friendly and personable and explained everything very thoroughly throughout the appointment. I will definitely be back for my regular check up and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great new optometrist!
Update: June 2016. I had to renew my NY State drivers license and because I saw Dr. Straton a few months ago I e-​mailed her staff to see if they could send my vision test over to the DMV. They did it within a day, easy peasy, and saved me a trip to the DMV. Still highly recommended!

The service was great. I received a warm greeting from the receptionists. My eye exam was done within a reasonable amount of time. I even had time to browse through a selection of glasses and get back to my meter before it expired. The best part is getting all of that done on my lunch break.

Just finished my exam here, and could not be happier with my experience. Multiple email/​text reminders in the days leading up to my visit (with the option of online check-​in, which made things so easy!), a friendly front office staff, minimal wait time, and a professional/​knowledgeable doctor that took the time to answer all my questions.
I saw Dr. Vlada Straton, and have to say she was perfect. If you’re looking for an intelligent, friendly, professional optometrist, definitely ask for her.

Professionalism at its best ! Went there on a friend’s recommendation and very glad that I did. Excellent service and care, very knowledgeable and experienced staff, from the doctors to the sales people. The doctors are very thorough and address all of patient’s concerns. They offer many options and alternative for corrective vision. The eye-​ware selection is up to date, ranging from elegant to chick, and more. The staff is really good about recommending what suits you best stylistically as well. The prices are right. The service is quick and efficient. Highly recommend it. Was very satisfied with everything, this place is definitely getting my repeat business.

I’ve recently paid a visit to Park Slope Family Eye Care after a friend’s recommendation and was thrilled that I did. I’m not one to write reviews but felt compelled to do so considering the experience I’ve had. This establishment had everything you want and look for when searching for the proper eye care attention. Dr. B was attentive, patient as well as very knowledgeable in his craft. The staff & service was excellent and super friendly; you truly felt that they had your best interest at heart which speaks a lot for itself. The glass wear collection was above any I’ve seen in a long time. You name it, they had it. Beautiful designer glasses from all over Europe showcasing the latest designs. I would highly recommend Dr. B and his wonderful family establishment to anyone who needs care.

Recently had my eyes examined at this office and wanted to share what a wonderful experience i had. The staff was fantastic at finding out my coverage and and explaining my eligibility for the visit. Everyone was very knowledgable. The doctor was great at explaining everything pertaining to my eye and addressed all concerns. They have a nice selection of frames for my standards. Not many offices in brooklyn carry latest Lindberg lines. Overall thumbs up! Definitely worth a visit for any eyecare related issue or if your just shopping around for beautiful eyeglasses.

I went there 2 times the first time I didn’t have a problem. The staff was great the doctor was good asking me questions, it was a good visit. The 2^nd time I go in to get my eyes checked the ladies were so rude. There was this one lady in particular I didn’t catch her name but she was talking to me with attitude and raising her voice at me like I was some kind of little kid. Even a little kid shouldn’t be talked to like that. In that moment I am thinking to my self should I knock her out… So I told my self I’ll wait to see the doctor and I’ll just talk to him and he’ll fix the problem. My name was called I go inside, the doctor was just as rude as the lady in the front he had giving me eye drops cause my eyes were dry I asked him how many drops can I use in a day. He tells me I don’t know read the label and walked out. I said U don’t know Your the doctor and U don’t know!!! I took my belongings and told the lady with the attitude I am never coming back here again!!! And everyone that’s asks me for a eye doctor i tell them don’t go to that place cause they so rude and have no respect!!!

Have been here in the past and staff was always friendly. Called today to try to make an appointment and encountered a very unfriendly receptionist. Felt like I was being barked at rather than treated like a patient. Will be taking my business else where!

I had a great experience at the park slope family eye care. I had thought I caught a case of severe pinkeye to the left eye the day after Christmas and went to a hospital emergency room at Methodist hospital in Park Slope (which was a big mistake). The hospital kept me waiting for over 7 hours to see someone and when they finally saw me they just looked at my face and diagnosed with pinkeye from the doctor there; and they gave me my prescription and I was on my way home. Boy was the hospital wrong. During the start of the weekend my eye was surely swollen, very red and in severe pain plus I could not see out of my left eye. My girlfriend was concerned and made an appointment with Park slope family eye care online with ZocDoc. I had to wait till Monday but dealt with the pain in my left eye for the remainder of the weekend but had some eyedrops prescribed from the hospital.
Monday finally arrived and went for my 3:00pm appointment and had printed out the registration form at home that my girlfriend told me to fill out and was clearly processed right away and I was seen by there doctor right away. After dcotor Vlada saw my eye I was diagnosed with Corneal ulcer due to me wearing contacts and she showed me my eye picture from her tablet which they connect to there eye exam machine which I thought was cool. She told me to come back and see her colleague Arthur and was precribed the proper eye medication. Arthur saw me the next day and saw that my eye was not getting better and the swelling was still there and did niot want to put a stronger medication to the eye due me having severe pain still, but still gave an eye drop that was a little stronger then what was prescribe. I now have an appointment with an eye specialist on Monday morning to see how the eye is doing even though it is getting better no more swelling, too much pain and not that red; but I still having blurred vision and sensitivity to light. I just hoping everything is okay and can’t wear contacts for a long while but thanks to care and proper diagnosis from the doctors at Park Slope Family Eye Care was actually caught in time and not going by the hospital diagnosis my eye would of been much worse now. Thank You Doctors Vlada Straton and Arthur Bukhatetsky.

Great experience. Easy to make appointment on line, Dr was right on schedule, thorough and extremely pleasant. Staff helped me wonderfully picking frames and walking through the options.

Yet another great visit. They got me in right away, talked me through everything and Nichole made sure everything was ordered correctly. I will never go to another eye place. This place is worth going to just for Nichole’s smile!

-*: for the nearly hour long wait and faulty online reminder service that kept changing my appointment time, even though I set up my appointment over the phone.
-*: for the cursory exam (if you can call it that), probably the fastest in my glasses-​wearing experience (almost 25 years). He barely gave my eyes a second glance (…sorry, couldn’t resist).
-*: for the seeming lack of concern about my wait. I get that emergencies come up, but a sincere apology would have been nice.
+**: for the sweet receptionists who are great at explaining insurance coverage and helping people pick out frames.
My husband keeps telling me to just go to Costco for everything… that’s likely where I’m headed next time.

I loved that I was able to schedule an appointment online. The girls at the front desk was very polite and I barely had to wait.
The doctor was great! He took the time to explain everything to me and make sure I was comfortable. I’ve been wearing glasses for a long time and he explained things so well I even learned a some new things about my eyes!
When choosing my frames they have this awesome machine that takes pictures of you wearing styles you like. It stores them and compares them side by side so I can actually see how I look in each frame! Really great to help narrow down since I loved so many :)
