7th Avenue has many other businesses with a lot more personality than Park Slope Eatery, and the competition is winning in that regard. But there’s really nothing wrong with the place. They keep it immaculately clean, including the restroom. It’s nice and warm by the back tables, so it’s cosy on a cold day. Students of the high schools in the John Jay building across the street get a discount, which is nice. I have found the staff to be very friendly and efficient. The food is a little boring but that’s what salt and pepper are for, and the prices are okay. I think it’s a reliable, okey-dokey place to eat.

I got in for the weekend a little earlier than usual, so I went from the airport to spend the afternoon with the GF at work. I hadn’t eaten all day and it was past 4, the conversation went like this. Her: You want to go down the street and get something? Me: Sure, do you want anything? Her: Coffee. Me: You can’t just have coffee, you haven’t eaten all day either. Her: Just coffee. Me: Absolutely not. Her: Well, there is this samosa cupcake I have been checking out… I love her. The cupcake was great and didn’t cost an arm and a leg as I had been lead to believe about cupcakes in NYC. I had the chicken Parmesan panini which was really quite nice, I was expecting a little less actually. The staff was nice as I worked my way though the selection(it was not particularly busy at 4), the place was clean and had been picked up. There are a few things I looked at that I would like to try on future visits, I’ll definitely be back for future office food runs.

Decided to purchase a rotisserie chicken dinner. They boast about their chicken. Got a quarter chicken meal for $ 7. It came with some rice medley and some of the best string beans I have ever had! I LOVE string beans! Anyone who KNOWS me, KNOWS this. I actually, was NOT impressed with their chicken. I have definitely had better rotisserie chicken. I also ordered a gelato– cookies and cream. I think it was kind of old. The server could NOT even scoop it out and there were some old ribbons of ice cream in my cup. Not so good. Never finished it and I LOVE gelato. Probably wont be returning here. Its on the same block at Butter Lane Cupcakes… wont be having those ever again either. Just not a good block for food!

Love this place! They are so sweet there and always remember your name. Lovely community joint and they have about everything. Salads are great — juicy chicken and homeade pico de gallo. They work so hard there… im happy to give them my business and support daily. Straight forward setting and great service.

The food is okay. The service, on the other hand, is very inconsistent. Sometimes the staff just chat amongst themselves, ignoring the customer who is trying to order. Even the manager types(the guys in black shirts) do this. It’s incredibly rude, even for New York.

Five to counter all those naysayers. Had a decent veggie burger here, at a good price. Service was good.

I have tried this place twice so far. Chicken is ok. Mash potatoes completely bland! No flavor whatsoever. Really hope they can improve. Great outdoor seating.

I actually like the intended concept here… a limited assortment of home cooked-like fare without traditional table service. Roast chicken, pork loin, BBQ ribs, multiple sides, like mac & cheese. Pick your combo and it’s on your plate immediately. Perfect for those in a hurry. Their problem is execution. — The food itself is pretty boring. Nothing was interesting in terms of flavor or a new spin. — The fare sits on steam table, so it ages quickly. My protein dish was pushing towards dry and had no sauces added to my plate. From what I observed, they don’t have the volume of customers to keep the food fresh in a buffet-like model. — Portion sizes are a bit whack. I got an o.k. sized protein, but giant piles of sides which overwhelmed the plate. I like yams, but not 3 cups. It doesn’t help that this place has no identity for food type. Not a bodega, nor traditional diner or specialist in anything.

Heard they filed for bankruptcy, not surprised by the looks of it

I’ve ordered take-out from them three times. The portobello & mozzarella panini is great. However the Creation Salad wasn’t very good. The grilled vegetables were a little hard to chew.

So I got a brochure/menu at my front door for Park Slope Eatery. On the cover is a photo of beautiful loaves of bread and the phrase«Where food is our passion.» Sounded like a great idea to a bread(and food in general) lover like me! This is a nice, clean deli with a robust selection of food. As a new business, though, they have some kinks to work out: 1. The printed menu is extensive. The menu you see when you go into the eatery is limited and illogically organized. 2. The printed menu has all this bread on it. I saw a few pastries at the store, but no loaves of bread. Where is it? The material they distribute is misleading. Not cool. 3. It is unclear where and how to order. 4. Where were the people passionate about food? There was a lot of running about or a lot of people standing around. I didn’t feel a lot of passion; I felt chaos. At the same time, they’re doing some things well, and that’s not to be missed: 1. When I clearly looked confused, a gentleman came from behind the counter and asked me what I was looking for, and led me to a menu. 2. The place is really, really clean. 3. The large trays of hot food are presented really attractively. The baked potato wedges looked really really tasty. 4. There’s plenty of seating. And some of it is OUTSIDE! :-) Park Slope, 7th Av specifically, needs a place like this(it’s not the only one, I realize, but this one’s a good one). I hope they can organize their practices a bit more and stay open.
