I’m very disappointed that they closed down. Found out this place closed down when I headed there looking forward to get the lava cake. I love the lava cake! It was so delicious! It wasn’t overly sweet. It was just perfect! I also got the lavender mint drink which was very refreshing. I also tried the soufflé, which was good too. It was very light and fluffy. Service here was very good and attentive!

We ordered the black sesame soup, their famous Lava cake. Both were ok. I dont’ mind trying other desserts if I am in the area again. The staff was really friendly and helpful though. Price is reasonable too.

I decided to give this place an extra star because I do plan on coming back here. The atmosphere is very comfy and relaxing. A great place to sit down, devour some delicious treats and have a nice chat with a friend. They also offer free wi-fi. My friend and I ordered the lava cake as we heard it was better than Spot’s. :3 I wasn’t impressed by it at all. It was reasonably priced but it wasn’t as moist as I would’ve liked it and the shape of it wasn’t very appealing. The lava was already oozing out of it when the waitress brought it over. The vanilla ice cream also had that weird taste that usually happens when the ice cream container isn’t closed tightly. That said, I prefer Spot’s green tea lava cake but I would settle for this simple lava cake.

The ONLY thing I recommend here is the LAVACAKE for $ 6.50 it’s absolutely better compared to the famous spotdessertbar. Palais lava cake looks petite and not as fonding but when you dig in the cake, a warm fudge is broken and you taste it, the sweetness is perfect. You can have it all yourself because it’s not too sweet and the vanilla icecream on the side comes with it to have a cooling sensation. Sandwiches here are made well too. Things I wouldn’t recommend is the lavender mint lemon drink… it smells like lemon is dumped into a pile of lavender water. The imperial milk tea crème brulle is really nothing special, I’ve had better. Imperial milk tea is hk style milk tea, not too overwhelmingly sweet where I like it. The texture when you dig in is average. The service we had was great because she kept checking on us. The place is very small, thank god it wasn’t busy when I was there.

So, I really like this cute, little dessert and snack shop. I would never have noticed this gem, until my friend brought my boyfriend and our friend here for a late night snack. There’s not a lot of décor in this little dessert and snack shop, still it felt so cozy and comfortable. i like that the music was music that I grew up with(NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Lady Gaga, and etc.) The service was excellent! The server/co-owner of Palais De Sweet was actually a former classmate of my boyfriend. Small world! For the four of us, we had quite a lot of items on our table, but I didn’t get to try all of them, but here’s what I did try: Imperial CoffTea — I really enjoyed this drink because it was absolutely refreshing. I like that the drink wasn’t overly sweeten. The Imperial Cofftea was basically a Yin-Yeung. It only cost $ 2.75 and I was impressed that it was served in such a tall drinking glass. However, this drink did keep me up until 2AM on a Friday night. Matcha Mousse Cake — This was one of the specials and amazingly all 4 of us loved it! I really loved how there was a layer of red bean sandwiched between the sponge cake. The cake wasn’t overly sweet. It was moist and absolutely delectable! Everything about it was just perfection. Black Sesame Tofu Cheesecake — My friend ordered this for us to try. It didn’t look as appealing as the Matcha Mousse Cake, but I did try it. I wasn’t too impressed with this dessert because I’m not a fan of black sesame and it didn’t have a «wow’ factor. Other items that we ordered were: Hong Kong Style Milk Tea, Purple Glutinous Rice with Mango, and almond paste. I really enjoyed Palais De Sweet. It’s fun, cute, and an inexpensive dessert and snack shop that I think anyone of any age would truly enjoy. I hope to return soon, since now I know where it is and of the artfully crafted desserts. As much as I’d like to love this place, i really don’t. I came here one night with a few friends, we ordered a total of 3 desserts and a drink. For starters, service here is great, not going to complain at all, was given menus and was told the specials for the day, along with pictures from Facebook. However, what this place lacked is the quality of their desserts. We ordered a green tea soufflé, matcha with red bean mousse cake, chocolate lava cake, and imperial tea with lemon. First off, the reviews about the soufflés do not give it justice, it is hardly much of a soufflé. It is incredibly light and fluffy, which it is supposed to be however, it is also supposed to have a richness to it, which it did not have at all. Literally felt like i was eating moist air. Also, when i received mine, it was cracked, which i don’t mind but if it were a real soufflé and it cracked, it wouldn’t have risen at all, and it looked like those Chinese sponge cake-type pastries from the bakeries. Will not recommend. The matcha with red bean mousse cake, which was a special for the day, was not mousse at all, it was like eating rubber, period. Also, will not recommend. Finally, the only things that were okay, and somewhat good were the lava cake and the lemon tea, but how can you go wrong with lemon tea anyway. The only con about the lava cake is that its incredibly small, like a Baked by Melissa’s cupcake size, well just a little bigger. Overall, I will not be coming back here, i thought it would be good since they had a lot of good reviews but sorry, people just don’t know what they’re eating.

We went here on Valentine’s day. It is a small but cute. This is a great place to stop in after dinner for dessert. We got the chocolate lava cake. We shouldn’t haves shared it, it was small. It was excellent. Next time I go, I’m going to get the chocolate fondue. You can’t really go wrong when it comes to dessert. Palise de sweet is a gem. I will be back.

LOVELOVELOVETHISPLACE! Cute, comfortable atmosphere. Decent desserts, and best of all, EXCELLENT, FRIENDLYSERVICE!(Although tips is not required.) The waitress is very nice about everything, and she ensures the customers are getting the best out of their stay. I usually get the ‘Crataegus w/Siraitia Grosvenorii’ drink for its health benefits and I love to check out their weekly specials, as they’re usually not on the menu.

When it comes to drinks, I’m all for au naturale — no powdered down and mysterious syrups, please. We were in the area and since most of the food shops on Eighth Avenue are restaurants and bakeries, we wanted a café setting with small eats. Tempted by the aesthetic photos of the pastries and cakes of Palais De Sweet, we strolled down towards Seventh Avenue and nearly missed this by a few steps. This place is indeed very small, but an absolute perfect date spot — I’m doing you a favor, men. I was disappointed; the menu did not have any of the desserts in the photo. The menu was rather simple and the only desserts were soufflé, crème brûlée and mochi ice cream… what the heck, Ara & Helen! Instead, they were doing a Christmas special and had a chocolate fondue with drinks deal for $ 12. A pretty great deal, compared to Max Brenner’s. It was 20 degrees out but I got myself a cantaloupe milkshake… must I explain the later effect? One sip and my face lit up; the cup was taller than my face, so I had PLENTY to drink from. They used REAL cantaloupe — not those nasty powders that taste like plastic. If you’re ever in the area, this a must. I was either dreaming or deceived *ahem Arab and Helen* by the extensive menu of desserts. Then again, it’s food drought season. The girl working there was so kind and didn’t pressure us at all!

Great food, excellent staffing. I came upon this place one day as I walked to my friend’s house via an alternate route for once and was surprised to find this place here. It’s don’t have the best desserts that I’ve tasted(even in brooklyn), but is a MUCH better alternative to what kulu offers, quality-wise. It’s a great place to go to after a round of tennis at Leif Ericson Park nearby. It’s a nice atmosphere, but a really small store that seats no more than 12 people at best. I’d recommend going with small groups of 3 – 4 people at a time. Their coffee-based drinks are amazing and many of the herbal ones are quite exotic. As someone born from a Chinese family, it’s great to relive so many of these tong-shui’s(or sweet soups, as a literal translation). They are really healthy and supposedly can passively revitalize the body/mind in the long run with gradual consumption. Just a bit of personal advice — don’t drink the coffee-based drinks with some of the lighter desserts or they WILL taste bland and yucky. The berry parfait was well done and looked beautiful. Their top signature item is probably the lava cake and I loved it. I was quite surprised when she said that she made a minor mistake and it looked ugly so she redid it. I had to wait an extra 12 minutes or so, but it was their signature dessert and we had time. I certainly admired their dedication. I’ve tried their lavender team and I must say that it’s too strong. I like the style in which they served it — classic, oriental method. I don’t mean classic as in those pots and cups you’d see in typical chinese restaurants, but the type you’d expect IN china with small teacups, strainers, etc. I really do wish they would find out a better tea blend to work on, but the style was nice. Overall, I’d go again.

Absolutely adorable. I had a friend take me here a few days after the whole Sandy fiasco(boy, was she mad). She led me here and there, turning, turning, turning. Finally, we stopped in front of the nearly invisible dessert shoppe of Palais de Sweet. Honestly, if I walked past, I wouldn’t have given it so much as a dismissive glance. The only thing that prompted us that we were indeed in the right spot was the teeniest little sign hung above, in neat cursive. Inside was totally different from the bleak, gray street that surrounded it. The walls, a bright orange welcomed us, as a bubbly cashier led us to our seats. We were the only ones here, save an old man and his coffee pudding. He made it very clear he was enjoying it. Heat blasting on max, the shop screamed comfort and deliciousness. The interior itself is pretty tiny, with probably five or six tables in total, fit for little groups. Perfect. These are the best sort of places. The menu was deceptively small, but I took a while to order. Their menu was impressively diverse, from very American lava cakes to traditional Chinese desserts like papaya and fungus. Yummy. My friend opted for the ginger soufflé. The almond steamed milk/egg caught my eye, so I had chosen that. We ordered a small pot of green tea. Initially, we wanted to share it, but they actually won’t give you two cups, even if you ask. I guess it makes sense, they have to profit, after all. The wait was pretty long, but understandably so. Perfection can take its time ! While we waited for our desserts, we secretly shared the green tea. Presentation was absolutely lovely. The tea’s served in a little tea pot, with a strainer so you see all the leaves and such seeping in the tea. The tea cups felt very Alice-in-Wonderland-esque. Aaah, ’tis the life. About twenty minutes of waiting, our cashier pops from the back, with two desserts in her hands. The soufflé was bigger than I had imagined, and well worth its price. Served in a ramekin, it was nicely browned on top, but remained a delightfully wiggly mini tower. The ginger is actually very prominent, but is mellowed out by a very strong egg taste. Personally, I didn’t enjoy it, but I enjoyed its delicate texture. It felt like clouds on my tongue, not quite solid, but not quite liquid either. The almond steamed milk/egg was just as delicate as the soufflé, without the competing flavors. It was simple and humble in appearance– pure off-white. In fact, it looked a bit boring and bland. The edges were set perfectly, but the middle was wobbly. Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. I’m still dreaming about it. The texture was perfect, silky and smooth. God, if I continue talking about this, I’ll start sounding like Fifty Shades of Grey. The almond flavor was light and balanced. The portion size is pretty generous, considering it’s a dessert. Paladis de Sweet is a bit more expensive than what I’d usually indulge in, since I don’t usually go out of my way to eat desserts. But, like the overused Fry meme dictates, TAKEMYMONEY !

I love the creativeness yet simplicity of this tiny dessert place. they serve desserts and chinese dessert soup only. It’s perfect place to go if you’re craving something sweet after a light dinner. we had lava cake, which was perfectly moist, not overtly sweet, and warm fuzzy feeling when it’s going down my belly! Ginger Soufflé recommended by waitress was great too, fluffy, abit light of ginger taste than I wanted, but great balance of texture! lastly, we also had their weekly special of snow fungus sweet soup, that totally reminded me of my childhood, who says food doesn’t trigger memories?! the snow fungus is crunchy but too chewy, egg white that they mixed w the soup just makes everything so amazing! Tiny gem like this totally rocks! staffs are very young, but they sure know what they’re doing! service is very friendly and attentive! I will definitely come back for more!

I have found a place for the best lava cake! Yes, better than Spot dessert bar! As much as I love the chocolate greentea lava cake itself and the presentation from Spot, this place has won my heart! It’s a chocolate lava cake served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Like I have mentioned in my previous review for Chikalicious, I’m not a big a fan of vanilla ice cream but this vanilla paired really well with the lava cake. The lava cake, omg, it was perfect, not as sweet as the one from Spot, that means I CANHAVETHISALLONMYOWN! By the way, lava cake in chinese stands for«heart too soft» so cute! I devoured the cake to the very last bite! If the staff wasn’t there, I think I would have licked the plate… I also tried one of their specials, Jasmine Tea Cake, it was more of a hard jello than cake. Can’t say I would want it again. It was light and easy too eat but that’s not dessert in my book. Milk Tea Crème Brulee, it was delicious but I wouldn’t want the whole thing to myself. If you’re a crème brûlée fan, you should try it and they have other flavors too. Soufflé, I really like the top crispy part. A little too eggy for me, reminds me of the paper muffin at those chinese bakeries. It felt like I was eating nothing LOL, it was so fluffy! Cofftea, half coffee half milk tea, DELICIOUS! The waitress is really friendly. The location of this place is amazing. It’s like in 8th avenue, do not know how I ever missed this place! It was emptied when I was here on a Sunday night but it didn’t feel awkward. Definitely coming back for the lava cake!

Driving around Brooklyn post-dinner, friends and I were struck with the need for sweets. The pictures drew me and my friends in, and we excitedly awaited our chance to order all the delicious things I already saw depicted. Note: not everything you see in the pictures are available as they have a changing weekly specials. This can be good/bad depending on your craving. Small space when you walk in, can seat perhaps 10 – 12 comfortably between the 4 tables. Our waitress was SUPER nice and accommodating, ready to answer any questions we had. I decided on the matcha flan which was covered in red bean syrup, and the lavender/mint/sage tea. Didn’t expect the read bean so be so sweet but the flan was good, light in flavor and thick with yum. As for my tea, it came in a tall glass, was ICED, and sprinkled with dry cloves of lavender, which was a nice touch. Drinking it, I felt so relaxed, and ready for bed. Friends opted for the various souffles, getting sesame and green tea. Both were well made, light and airy, with subtle flavors. Sesame was the clear winner as green tea was just a little too light. All in all a good place. Can’t wait to come back next week to see what else they have in store!

My 100th Review! Hands down the best dessert shop around the area. I stopped by based on Unilocalers’ reviews and the little sweet spot is indeed as good as people whisper about. Here’s why: +1 Staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Employees will stop eating their meal to step out and hand you a menu if you’re peering in from outside. +1 Place is quaint and inviting. The cushions are a nice touch with bumble bee colors. Cute! +1 No tips necessary. Literally. They will run out the door to return the extra money to emphasize it’s not required. Lit-er-al-ly. +1 Weekly Specials make every week of the year more sweeter. You won’t get bored coming here because there are different things available each week. This is fantastic since I’d get tired of ordering the same olé item again and again. Options are always a plus! +1 The quintessential lemon tea! They serve the long forgotten taste of the classic iced lemon tea I’ve been searching for all my life. After drinking this you will never go back to drinking the regular boxed version ever again. Trust me. Thank you Palais de Sweet, your existence made Brooklyn so much better!

My high school friend and I took a trip to Brooklyn because we saw some of the beautiful pictures on the Unilocal page. The place is pretty tiny. It’s cute. Adorable. We were seated and they took our order. I ordered CoffTea, which, obviously, is a drink of coffee and tea mixed together. My friend ordered a strawberry milk shake, which I warn you– comes in a FREAKINGTALLGLASS. She finished maybe 1⁄10th of it, it’s HUGE! The CoffTea was great– I am not a fan of coffee whatsoever but with the tea in it the flavor was much milder. It was delish! We ordered classic soufflé and a lava cake. The soufflé was simple, with the lightest, most fluffiest cake on the top. Once we broke in we were encountered by the custard in it. The custard did lack a bit of flavor, though. And was pretty… watery. I would have liked to have had the sensation of actually eating a custard, but it felt like I was… drinking custard or something. The lava cake though, oh man. A la mode. SOGOOD. HANDSDOWNAMAZING. It was rather small, which was disappointing because I thought from the Unilocal pictures that it would be bigger. But man. The cake. So sweet and delicious and melts in your mouth. This place is pretty cute, delicious, and overall was a good experience. Was it worth to take a trip from Midtown to get here? Not sure since I don’t really know any other Asian-style dessert places. But maybe if you’re up for exploring the Chinatown-esque part of Brooklyn. ANOTHERTHING– On the front of the restaurant my friend said that she saw a «no-tip» sign… Since she paid at this place I’m not quite sure, but I believe we really didn’t have to pay tip! :O Interesting FYI to keep in mind. Also the staff here are really nice. When we walked in a lady working there was in midst of her lunch, but helped us order and also explained the weekly specials to us. Was extremely kind to us. Great service, almost weird that they say no-tip!

Cute and cozy little dessert shop that just opened around that area… Popped in twice now and this place have me wanting to come back more often(if it weren’t for the distance). I believe there is a specified list of everyday desserts + the new specials for the week. I’ve had the lava cake(YUMMY!!), green tea soufflé, and mochi with chocolate in wheat flavored soy milk. What I enjoy about Palais De Sweet is that their desserts are not overly sweet, yet still packed with flavor — great cheat for those that crave dessert but don’t want to gain the excessive weight. Best part is tips are not required… Don’t feel guilty or shy to not leave tip… promise these folks will NOT run after you for your two dollar tips like most asian places — LOL! Let me also add how friendly the staff and owners are too! I’ll definitely be back, Palais De Sweet! Thank you for the addition.

I’ve been here a handful of times and here are the things I’ve had: White Wine Jello: Faintly sweet and delicately liquored. Not too intense but you can definitely taste the white wine. It shows the owners are very generous with the booze. Lava Cake: Mm mm good! Delicious from the first fork in to the last spoon licked. Green tea powder flecked the top of the warm cake, it came with a scoop of ice cream and the dessert was nicely accented with a blueberry. it’s something I’d like to order if I wanted something to cure my sweet tooth. Green Tea Soufflé: Fluffy and lightly hinted with green tea. Not too heavy with the flavor, which was what I was hoping for but that’s just a personal preference. It may take some time to get this prepared but if you’re in the mood for something airy then give this a try. Pear with Dried Coconut and LIly Bulb: Wowza, me likey! I was in dire need of something that was soothing since I was going thru a rough phase with the body and this was the cure. Sweet, satisfying and yummy. Lost Kingdom: Essentially coffee pudding with coffee jelly served on a dish of coconut milk along with some pulp. Flavorful and amazing. I like coffee with a lot of cream and this was just the way I like it, but in solid form. Very unique and an absolute treat. I could see myself ordering this repeatedly. Honeymoon: Grapefruit jelly with grapefruit pulp in a glass and a dollop of honeyed cream on top. The jelly is tart and refreshing while the cream was sweet and satisfying. I liked this a lot because although this was a dessert it’s not as guilty to consume due to its citrus nature. Cotton Jade Cup: A weekly special, I wish they’d keep this on their menu permanently since it’s my favorite out of all that I’ve had(and I’ve had A LOT!!) in their shop. Essentially mousse-like tofu in the bottom of a glass, followed by a layer of intense green tea flavored jelly and lastly topped off with a spoonful of sweetened red beans. WIth tofu, green tea, and red bean this is THE most Chinese dessert ever. At least most modern version wise. This contained all three things I love so I could either be very bias by rating this the best what they’ve made but hear me out… The tofu is only hinted with the slightest sweetness you can ever taste if sugar was added. The red bean layer on top is perfectly sweet to «assist» the dessert. The green tea jelly is strong so those green tea lovers such as I could finally shut the hell up with their complaining about how they can’t taste any green tea in anything. When eating each flavor by itself you wouldn’t be very happy because it’s gonna come across as boring but when all three is combined… ho ho ho!!! It’s a symphony in your mouth! How I wish this is offered daily!!! I miss it so much… Please bring it back!!! Place is cute and welcoming. Minimal in décor but maximal in service. Shop’s opened until late so that’s a perk. Staff is multilingual so there isn’t such a thing as a language barrier, which is another plus. I’ve become a fan and it’s easy to see why. Can’t wait to go back next week for more specials!

Love the name and this cute little spot that seats about 10 people. When I was walking pass this place I was like another dessert spot in the neighborhood? They better be good. I had: 1. Green tea soufflé — Tasted the egg more than the green tea flavor. 2. Green tea crème brûlée — Just the right amount of sweetness but lacks a strong green tea taste. Unique blend of Asian flavors into French desserts, I love green tea and the only negative is the dessert could use more flavor. Will update this review when I try other things on the menu.
