Eh. The service was slow, even though the place was pretty empty– it shouldn’t take 20 mins to bring out a side of guacamole(and weird that it didn’t come with chips) the prices are decent, and I liked the music. But I wouldn’t rly recommend or come back.

Spend your money elsewhere! I really wanted to like this place, but time after time the service gets worse and the food proves to be nothing near authentic Mexican food. If you’re looking for overpriced drinks that taste like they’ve been poured out of an old dirty boot, you’ll truly enjoy this place! But if you’re like me and you try sending you’re drink back or asking to change it to something else, you might be told by your server«if you send it back, I’ll have to pay for it out of my own money» ummmmm ok? All I wanted was a drink that didn’t taste like a watered down bottle of NyQuil. Granted I still paid $ 10 for the disgusting drink, and was still treated and spoke to with so much disdain and disrespect. The food is bland and cold! And the place reeks of sewage water. Save your hard earned money Unilocalers, and avoid this place!

So I consider my BF and I regulars to this place. The food is good and we enjoy the environment. Alcohol prices are ridiculous but I mean it’s park slope in Brooklyn, if you expect anything else then well… Anywhoo, back to my bad review. We went there tonight to share an overpriced pitcher of margarita and have some dinner. I’m not sure if she was the manager or just a bartender but a woman came out to speak to the table next to a us. They were a younger couple maybe mid to early 20s with a 1−2yr old baby that had walked in a good 15 mins after we did. The woman(aka manager/bartender) came out and demanded the couple pay for their meal before it was made and served. Stating something along the lines of «since they were unable to pay for their meal the last time they were there.» I don’t consider myself to be a regular eavesdropper although this conversation was loud enough for me to overhear. Upon mentioning it to my BF, we decided that we would«pay it forward» and offer to pay for their meal. I walked up to the woman who was tending the bar and to sum up the story she refused that we pay for them, stating they already paid their bill(even though they had yet to receive their food and the aforementioned event). I insisted and she again refused. Left both my BF and I feeling uneasy. We decided that we would not be returning to Nuevo Mexico because of this episode and would take our taste for over-priced alcohol and cravings for decent Mexican food elsewhere. I advise you do the same. Very unfortunate and upsetting. Please don’t humiliate your customers and refuse when other customers make an effort to help.

The place was pretty, texmex looking place but there was a smell. Idk if it was the beans or something went bad with the meat idk. We ignored it and complimentary salsa was brought to the table. The salsa was not spicy and had the consistency on tomato water. It was horrible. Ordered shrimp tostadas for apps. It was like canned shrimp and veggies on a piece of toast. It wasn’t even cooked shrimp it was cold Ordered fajitas for entrée, it was fine but the hot sauces that came along were all watered down like the salsa from before. The place has almost no seasoning on anything. Very disappointing for a MEXICAN place. Then we had to get up and look for our waitress to pay. Annoying experience. Don’t waste your time.

Good happy hour specials, ok food, but unfortunate service. The latter left a bad taste in our mouths. After running out of tortillas for our fajita dish, we asked the bus boy for a few more. Waited and waited and nada, so we asked the waitress about the delay. She said the kitchen was quite busy but that they would be coming soon. Next thing we know, we have a second order of fajitas brought out. The bus boy must have misunderstood what we had asked for, and apparently we misheard the waitress(there was live music in the dining room) when she confirmed what was on the way. After we sent back the fajitas, the waitress made a fuss about the whole situation even though we really weren’t at fault. By the time the extra tortillas finally arrived, the original plate(which another waiter attempted to clear multiple times) was barely warm. Eventually, we decided to try and end the meal on a sweeter note and ordered churros. They were quite good and piping hot, so we asked for another order. Then came another long wait. Finally what we got were lukewarm churros with cold(maybe even partially frozen) filling. Yuk. By then we were running late for a movie, decided to cut our losses and nibble on the lackluster dessert seconds. Doubt we’ll return.

Great place, especially anything with shrimp or pork. But the margaritas should either be a buck or two cheaper or have more tequilla in them. The guacamole is also super good. Great service, but sometimes there is a mariachi singer and it’s distracting. But the food is great, super authentic.

Chorizo was on point. Prices were very fair. Happy hour noon to 8:30 everyday is nice. Service was so so, and portion sizes for free chips and salsa was very small(though maybe free refills? Didn’t ask). Also canned soda which to me is a negative. Overall good place though, will come back for sure

I have worked in the industry for years and never once have went on Unilocal to complain about a server or anyone in the business but this is my one exception. The food here is absolutely amazing as well as the drinks! Never have been disappointed over the food but yet I always wondered why the place is always empty, but how could I forget it’s because the service is TERRIBLE! I have never went out to eat before and have been treated so rudely or disrespectfully to the point where you hear your server talking to another customer about you. The last time I ate there I walked on in the middle of my food because of how classless the staff is in this place and will never return. For the staff to be this out of control with customers it has to be going on in front of management and nothing is getting done and there is no point wasting my time even going back to try again.

Amazing food, bring you some chips and salsa as soon as you sit down. Great menu and phenomenal guacemole, i mean really this guac is amazing. The staff is so friendly, i havent seen the staff let go of their smile the whole time i was there. Nice small bar and live music on a Friday night! Highly recommend going to this place for a nice dinner, or even if youre not too hungry, they offer a «not-so-hungry» menu as well. I recommend the Tex-Mex Fajitas. Best Mexican food in town.

I came here after reading reviews about the great big Margherita’s. Nope. They are regular Margherita glasses nothing special. We ordered Pasole which didn’t specify if it was the red or green(we wanted the red and should have asked) it was green and pretty good considering. We also ordered tamales. The cheese tamale was good but don’t order the pork tamale. It was all masa that tasted like pumpkin spice and two small pieces of pork. The tostadas were the same ones I get from the sunset park restaurants and food trucks for $ 2.50(with nothing on them) and these were $ 8 for 2. Not worth it. We also got the large Nachos which were great. Nice and fresh and really good but it only had about 10 chips with all the stuff piled in the middle with no chips under. I used the rest of the chips they gave us in the basket when we sat down and then asked the waitress if I could get a little more chips for my nachos and she said it was $ 1.50 more. I showed her how much stuff I had left on the plate and explained that there wasn’t much chips and I used the ones in the basket and STILL had half a plate of nacho goodness and she said it’s still $ 1.50 for more chips while shaking her head. Most restaurants care more about their customers being happy with the food they ordered than $ 1.50 which isn’t going to do them in. I’m sad to say I won’t be coming back even though I loved the décor. I gave 2 stars for the yumminess of the nachos(minus the chips) and the décor.

So… My friend and I love Mexican food so we tried this place to try something new since we were at the nail salon next door. Wah so disappointing. First we sat down at 6:32 the waiter approached us at 6:36… Happy hour ends at 6:30, we really nicely asked if we could possibly still get the happy hour pitcher. He said he would go ask. At the same time he went«to ask» I went to use the restroom and he was standing by the bar not moving or asking anyone then went back and said no. Okay cool you suck. So we went on and ordered drinks and food. The tamarindo margarita was delicious and that’s about it. The chicken inside my enchiladas was weird looking and gross so I picked it all out and at the wrap part. We hadn’t eaten all day so we ate it but never again will we come here. Super cute atmosphere thou :)

Was taken here by a former native New Yorker. He cannot emphasize enough just how good their tacos are, so upon my mini vacation in NYC, we decided to drop by and grace the place with our presence. To be more correct, this place graced itself into my life. We came to the place at a rather late hour, so it was relatively freed up. My party and I quickly sat down, and placed our order, since we were hella famished after a long day. The aroma of the dishes that made their way toward our table was out of this world. Maybe it’s the grilled onion talking, or perhaps its the fresh guacomole that slightly hint at our desire to swallow it whole. None the less, we could not wait to down our food like a bunch of famished demons released from Davy Jone’s imprisonment. For what we are paying, we were given a TON of food. Everything was made fresh, and nothing is over seasonsed(which is a quite common crime in Mexican restaurants). They allow the freshness of the ingredients to sing in harmony, and dear lord was it a delightly concert. Would definitely recommend anyone to come to this place. To my knowledge this place does open rather late too, so perfect after a few drinks :)

One of those places where you go with your family, spend $ 150 and leave feeling like you got shaken down. Totally unimpressed. Mexican foods have some of the highest markups out there. Think about it — rice, beans, cheese — things you can get for next to nothing. In other words, if I’m paying the huge markup for the privilege of it being cooked for me it better be stellar. It wasn’t. Mole sauce was overpowering and completely covering the food beyond recognition. If I wanted to eat a jar of sauce, I’d eat a jar of sauce. The shrimp was whatever, the rice was whatever… no one was impressed. Go to one of the overpriced Italian joints in the neighborhood. At least their insane markups go alongside tasty food.

It’s amazing how a restaurant can still discriminate in this day and age. What’s funny is I use to frequent this establishment weekly but, yesterday was the first time that I felt like a 3rd class citizen. My money spends just as well as anyone else’s and I WONT be spending it here!!!

I really like this place. The décor has a cool kitchy feel with the wooden beams and pueblo style. Big, potent margaritas are on point, and the Chicken Mole Poblano I had was great. Service was very friendly too. If you’re not feeling like hunting down some taco truck for your street food experience or going all the way to fine dining white tablecloth Mexican you’ll be happy with Nuevo. I’m keeping it on the list of weekday neighborhood joints I’ll frequent near my house.

Ordered enchiladas from here and they were all tortilla and no chicken. Very poor quality of food. Never again!

I’ve been to this restaurant several times in the past year because it is located near my friend’s place and they are relative cheap. Their food is mediocre and it is never too crowded. I like the fact that they offer free corn chips and candies at the end of the meal. The following is what I ordered the last time I was there: Fish taco– barely any fish mostly bell peppers Mexican sausage– too salty and dry Quesadilla– not bad

First impression of this place is that it smelled like a toilet. I’m sorry, but no restaurant should have that smell. Maybe if they invested in some candles or worked on getting better ventilation, it wouldn’t smell like that. We essentially came for the happy hour. The drink selection was very lack luster. We ordered the margarita pitcher($ 15). I guess because it is a happy hour drink they feel they shouldn’t put as much of an effort in to making it taste good? The glasses for the happy hour are way smaller than regular margarita glasses. We ordered the chicken enchiladas and nachos. The food was very good and they were accommodating to the changes we wanted to be made to our food. I definitely like the free tortillas for the first go around. Being that the happy hour drinks kind of suck, we decided to try some normal margaritas. I tried the blue something. It was okay, nothing impressive. What impressed me was the coconut frozen margarita. It was super delicious. We ordered it close to 10, expecting the place to be open until 11, but at 10 they told us that they’re closing. I’ve never drank a margarita so fast in my life. Overall it’s a nice atmosphere and the food is good, but the place is not good enough for me to be back.

Pros: complimentary chips and salsa for the first round, happy hour till 8:30pm, four different great sauces at each table, and affordable variety of Mexican food. Cons: service is subpar, staff needs to be a bit more attentive. It’s definitely difficult to get a severs attention when trying to place an order! It’s even more annoying when trying to take advantage of the happy hour specials and you cannot find your server(s). TIP: it’ll be nice to approach your tables and let them know you’re doing LASTCALL on happy hour! What annoyed me the most is when I tried to wave my server down for 10 mins to place a drink order my server was no where to be found! Four minutes after HH I was able to get my servers attention and was quickly told I couldn’t order from the HH Menu because I was«four» minutes late! Really!!! Where were you when I was looking for you!!! Look I don’t mind paying full price for food or drinks, but with an attitude like that makes me not want to even bother going there! Must try: Fish, beef, and chicken taco, were great, even better with the different sauces provided at the table. Chicken tortas were okay, nothing to rave about. Chicken burritos were so-so I’ve had better.
