This has become my go-to for Chinese takeout. Consistently good food, great staff, low prices, and interesting people watching if you wait around to pick up your order. I realized last time I was in that the woman behind the counter(presumably the owner) fluently spoke at least three languages, and that’s pretty cool – especially useful in a largely Hispanic neighborhood, and I’m sure it’s appreciated. Really glad to have this so close!

This is pretty much the only meal you can get in New York for $ 4. Both the guy and lady who work here are nice. No attitude they he seemed like they actually care about taking my money. Imagine that! Food service employees in the city who aren’t completely ungrateful for making a living. I got the vegetable fried rice and it was enough for a moderate meal. Tasted good. Totally satisfied. At another point I ordered vegetable chow fun and it was good. The place looks fairly sketchy, as does almost every one of them here(what is it with the prison bars?) they also have two dirty tables. So order takeout and you’ll be good. — Vegetable fried rice @ Monday, August 10, 2015 @ 11 pm Vegetable chow fun @ Thursday, August 13, 2015 @ 10:30 pm

ZEROSTARS. We routinely order basic Chinese food from No. 1. Today, with our last 10 bucks we ordered BBQ spare ribs. The ribs arrived piping hot and covered in sauce, however it could not hide the fact that the pork was off. The meat smelled rotten. We called and asked that it be made right and we were repeatedly hung up on. We literally order from this place like once a week for a year and there was ZERO concern that they served loyal customers rotten pork. No1 insisted the ribs were made fresh however the terrible taste left in our mouths proved that they were not fresh. My bf went to No. 1 in person with the entire order of rotten ribs to ask for our money back. The woman behind the counter continued to deny that that ribs were rotten, refused to listen to anything my bf had to say, refused to refund us and then called my bf a «mother fucker». We will be calling the health dept. DONOTORDERFROMNO. 1. They are the opposite of No.1. They are the worst.

Definitely a go to since I live around the corner. The sesame tofu is bangin, and so is the broccoli and brown sauce. The woman there is super nice and they are really fast. I tried a place up the block once(Good chinese food i think) and was the only person in there and waited FOREVER for one order of vegetables. WIll definitely stick to no 1 !!!

the generals toes are good. I missed lunch by six minutes which bummed me out. I wouldn’t recommend eating inside cause the tables are pretty greasy. the lady behind the counter was sweet. I saw her give a little kid some fortune cookies and he got happy.

this is the cheapest, and also the worst chinese food i have ever had. 5 bucks for a huge portion of sesame tofu. everything was soggy and the sauce tasted all wrong. i DID appreciate all the sesame seeds, but i think they just made up a recipe for it based on the name. even though this place is just around the corner, i prob won’t be going back. waaaay too many other chinese places within walking distance for me to settle on this.
