To give full disclosure, the company just cancelled my account on their own. This was clearly because I spoke up about poor service. Just as with an earlier review, the first couple of weeks of delivery were wonderful. Yes, it’s winter, so the choices are limited, but once you accept that, you go with it, and wait for warmer weather. Two weeks ago, however, the problems started. They began with a new delivery system, which included that noxious«blue ice.» My package contained a split open container of the goo, which covered everything. Good bye organics. I wrote to the company and did not receive an answer. Next delivery: I was supposed to get fruit, but they didn’t have it. The only reason I knew this, is because I asked. When they sent the list of what customers should expect, they didn’t include any information about this. Apparently, the refund I saw on my credit card, in the future, was supposed to be enough. I also received a box with broken eggs, filled with a liquid of some kind. I spent nearly an hour cleaning vegetables, and cleaning my floor, from their leaking package. I tried dealing with customer service. Generally, no one is there. You have to call, and call again until you find someone. And then good luck in getting a satisfactory answer. What you will get, if you have my experience, is corporate gobbledy gook. Ultimately, I should be glad they cancelled the membership on their own because«it’s clearly not a good fit»(their words). Don’t make the same mistake. Find another service. There are other good ones.

So grateful for this place to provide healthy alternative in my Bedstuy! I feel so much better knowing that what I am eating is not full of chemicals. I have been living in the neighborhood for a while and I am so grateful for their hard work and dedication to impact the area positively. I am always pleased with the freshness and selection of produce they include and its been a pleasure to volunteer and be party of the network that makes the system run smoothly.

Nextdoororganics is a company trying to grow WAAAY too quickly. Unfortunately, it has lost its way and quality, customer service and customer loyalty have suffered significantly. The CSA concept makes a lot of sense — they deliver«CSA style» produce to certain pick up locations — different size orders of produce plus add ons for, i.e., cheese, meat, eggs and bread — without the headache of having to man the CSA delivery table, etc., which I could never do with my unpredictable work schedule. I joined Nextdoororganics about a year ago when they started delivering to my work — I ordered the medium produce size, plus add ons for eggs, cheese and bread. I paid about $ 65 per order, including a delivery fee and the add ons(which were, I believe, $ 6 each). For a while, I was a happy customer. Delivery was very convenient and the quality was great. The eggs that I initially received were the fantastic, fresh, orange-yolked Amish kind. I seriously craved these eggs. The produce was very good and had a lot of variety(albeit sometimes a little too much variety). The bread and the cheese were also high quality(with good variety) although they felt a little overpriced. NDO charged a bit of a premium as compared to other«CSA» type concepts but their quality was worth the premium. And I didn’t mind the occasional missing eggs or cheese(with an automatic refund) or last minute changes in the produce delivered. The problems started at the end of the spring/beginning of the summer. First, the eggs were no longer that same orange yolked kind that I craved. At $ 6 for 12 eggs, I expected the same quality that I initially received — otherwise, the eggs at the organic store down the street from me were 25% less expensive. Second, the produce took a serious quality/freshness hit — I frequently received vegetables that would not last a day or two after delivery. In a few instances, the vegetables arrived rotten. I was particularly disappointed when I received rotten squash blossoms that I was already planning to make in a new recipe. Third, the variety of, i.e., the bread and the cheese declined, as well, to the point that I was receiving one of two different types of bread and one of three different types of cheese each delivery. The last straw was that, out of the blue, they told us right before Thanksgiving that they were suspending service to our delivery location even though they had told us several months before that we were the largest delivery location that they had and that they very much appreciated our business. So much for customer loyalty. If you’re considering them, I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere. For instance, I’ve started using Fresh Direct’s «CSA» concept and have found it to be about 15% less expensive for delivery to my home with better, fresher products than I was getting from Nextdoororganics.

**This is a review of their CSA delivery service** I really wanted this to work out. Unfortunately… For 25 $ a week you will have all the kale and potatoes you can’t possibly eat. This is over the summer, kale is pretty bad in the summer. Add some more $$ to get more kale and a smashed pepper. It looks and feels like the picked over rejects from the farmer’s market. The produce is not diverse, repeatedly arrives smashed, and in some cases rotten to the point of unrecognizable. And then after several months I decided I had enough and wanted to cancel my subscription. While signing up is done online, turns out you CANNOTUNSUBSCRIBE. To unsubscribe you need to contact them and have them try to convince you to stay. In fact, I’m still waiting(for over a month now) for them to finally release me. This is unbelievably rude and unacceptable.

I love Nextdoorganics! I find it easy and most importantly affordable while living a busy city life. Using NDO I probably save over 25 $ a week, which is amazing in my book! I also enjoy that they have pick up locations all over the city and offer bike delivery if you would like.

Very cool little spot! I imagine that this place is even better if you live by it, but my friend’s house is perfect walking distance from Nextdoorganics, making it truly next door. I was exploring the neighborhood a little bit and popped my head in to say hello. A cheery spot with a great community feel, the store is the main pick-up spot for people who subscribe to their CSA boxes. I can’t speak to the CSA box, but they let me know that they sell their meat, fish and eggs to anyone regardless of whether or not they have a membership. With the rooftop bbq in the back of my mind I snagged two pieces of salmon and a package of garlic pork sausage. They even threw in a few zucchini for good measure, perhaps because it was the end of the day or because they were feeling kind. Whatever! Those went on the grill too. Everything was very tasty and it was awesome to know that our produce/meat was local and raised happy. If I lived here I would without a doubt try a CSA and use them as my local butcher!

I’ve been receiving weekly CSA packages through Nextdoorganics for the past three months. I am always very impressed with the quality of the food and service. The organic produce usually ends up being much cheaper than what I’d spend at Whole Foods for similar items, and is often fresher, particularly the herbs and some of the fruit and vegetables like apples, kale and other greens, and berries. There are plenty of options for pick-up locations through Brooklyn and Manhattan — I’ve picked it up at several and it’s always very straight-forward and the staff members are friendly. I’ve been incredibly impressed with the professional attitudes and friendliness of the people who work there. The two times that there has been a problem with the package(e.g., wilted/not super fresh produce or missing items), they have responded to my emails almost immediately and processed a refund without questions. There was one time where I had a last minute conflict and wouldn’t be able to pick up my package as scheduled. I contacted them and they quickly responded with a solution to make sure that I would still receive my package that week. I do wish that the home delivery window times were smaller or more customizable, as I would definitely sign up for home delivery if this was the case. However, when I spoke to the staff about it, they were very helpful in trying to find a solution like offering to leave the package in a hiding spot or with a neighbor. Although it doesn’t work for me, I’m sure these solutions would work for other people. I plan on continuing to use Nextdoorganics for as long as they’re around.

The vegetables and pantry items they’ve delivered to us were really good. The fruit add on I found not worth the money unfortunately. The biggest problem we had was theres no options when it comes to delivery — if you can guarantee you have the delivery day off every week that works out great. Otherwise they can’t give you a smaller window, change the day, pick up anywhere besides Brooklyn, or ask for example if they can just make sure that its after a certain time thats still in your delivery period.

I’ve been a member of this CSA for about 4 months, and have received delicious fantastic produce and eggs. The quality of all the items has consistently been stellar. Very friendly people work at the hub. We are leaving town next year so we’re canceling our account, but should we find ourselves in NYC again, we will definitely sign up again. A note about the eggs: I grew up spending my summers on a dairy and egg farm in upstate New York. The eggs I would eat had ORANGE yolks, because the chickens were just running around eating acorns and worms and all that natural stuff. I cannot find the same quality of eggs anywhere in New York City and I’ve lived here for 15 years. The egg purveyors who work with Nextdoorganics are the closest I’ve seen. I eat like 4 eggs a day. My cholesterol is fine, thank you.

I have been using the pick-up service for the past 4 months, and have been very happy with it. I always get a great variety of fresh, organic fruits and veggies. Once, I got chard that was a little soggy. I sent an email, and got a credit for it without any fuss at all. Every person I have interacted with has been pleasant and friendly, something that I appreciate a lot. They offer a number of options so you can customize your order to fit your needs. The price is a great deal for the quality of food provided. I appreciate that if I miss my pick up time on Friday, I can always get it Saturday morning. Overall, I have been very impressed with this service, and look forward to seeing them grow!

I’ve been a member of Nextdoorganics for about a year and a half and in that time, they’ve definitely grown as an operation(Exhibit A: They have their own hub!) They offer a veriety of packages and locations for pick up or delivery. They also have various events every month such as potlucks and classes/demonstrations. I subscribe to the weekly small package which I find is perfect for 2. I used to have a Small+ but after they opened the online store for add-ons, I like having the option of adding what I know I’ll use. There are photos, prices and descriptions of each item and some even have suggestions on usage. They’ve also recently added meats and fish to the add-ons! I love the variety and have added things in the past such as sauce or eggs. I’ve had no qualms about the items themselves, just the packaging sometimes. There have been times when I had beans or grains that should’ve been kept dry but were in their brown bag package at the bottom of the grocery bag soaked. It’s not a huge deal though since I usually use it right away and I’m sure things shift in transit. An email gets sent out the night before pick up with a list of what is anticipated to be in the package, which the planner in me loves. The website also allows you to put a hold on your package if you go away or whatever. As for service, it has been nothing but great. Any time I’ve emailed a question or concern, they’ve responded within a day. I also love the weekly newsletters, which have recipes, updates and some fun facts about the products you might not know. Overall, I’ve found it to be a great way to be introduced to new produce and products and support local businesses. And the added surprise of not knowing what you’ll get adds to the excitement ;)

Stopped in this little gem earlier. I’ve seen them open a couple weeks ago but never went in. Today I decided to stop by and give it a go. I went in and noticed that it was empty. It’s actually a grocery ordering service and this is their Brooklyn hub. How cool? No more wilted produce… no more being disappointed… let’s hope. The lady who was working at the time was super eager and welcoming. She explained how everything worked and gave me a card to sign up. She said it’s very simple. I went on the website and they have all types of locally produced goods. They also have a selection of meats as well. They even have coffee. You can set up delivery or schedule to pick up service. It’s like a book of the month club for organic goods. I’m excited. Hopefully, the delivered results get them the missing star. *crossing my fingers*
