New Bell Car Service

By far the best car service in the area, so yes of course you may happen to have a bad/​rude driver but guess what? There must be at least 60 drivers affiliated with the base, and drivers are human beings, when it comes to the dispatchers they are also human beings and sometimes are overwhelmed with calls so the timing may be 5 minutes but sometimes 10 or if a driver is around the corner 2 minutes.

ALWAYS ASK HOW MUCH BEFORE! I’ve been using this cab service for over 7 years now and I’ve always found them to be reliable and easy in the bedstuy area. However tonight was different… I requested a van to move a rug and a few other small things 3 blocks away. When I get to my destination in 3 minutes, the driver tells me it’s $ 15 minimum. Why wait until after to tell me? I even told the dispatcher I was only going 3 blocks. That’s some schemey stuff… in my 7+ years of living here I’ve never heard of a «cash minimum». The guy didn’t even help me move anything either. Am I wrong? Is this how much call car services cost now? I’m sorry for the bad review but please prove me wrong new bell and I will correct this review.

Cheaper then über. In the area better then Pratt car service. Point A to point B totally works. Pay in cash, get an approx rate from dispatch. Smooth sailing in clean cars with nice courteous drivers. CHEAPER THEN UBER with faster pick up time in Clinton hill. Clinton hill to Flatbush $ 20 flat. Word

What the hell happened to this business. This was my go to for car service, The guy’s were friendly, but professional, and the cars were clean. I’ve now been forced to delete them as the operator is beyond rude and short and just about everything else about them has changed. Is it under new management? It doesn’t even matter at this point because I won’t be using them again.

In busines Honesty is key! Letting a customer wait in the rain with empty promises of the car is coming only to cancel after half hour is totally uncalled for! Never again!

Horrible service! I’ve never experienced such an uncomfortable ride in my life. The driver was so unprofessional and he was playing rachet a** music. Nobody wants to listen to «Bitch better have my money» extremely loud. I put the window down because it was 77 degrees and without saying a word he just put the window up, how rude! To top it all off he left me a block away from my destination, he didn’t know where he was going the entire time. I will never take a cab from this company ever again!

New Bell is the ultimate worst. They used to be very reliable like 3 years ago, but now they’re an u reliable car service. I don’t care if it takes a car a long time to get to me, what makes me angry is when a dispatcher repeatedly lies about the eta of a car. Truly terrible customer service.

This is the worst car service ever. I called at 3:50. They said a car would come in five minutes. After calling ten more times, one finally showed up at 4:20 (THIRTY MINUTES LATER) and the driver refused to take me where I wanted to go. A car ride that should’ve taken 20 minutes ended up taking an hour. Never use this company.

Seriously do NOT use this car service! One of their drivers basically held me hostage as he was dropping me off after a ride from Brooklyn to Harlem. I had to call the police to ensure I got in my house safely. My ride was for $ 55. One week later I check my credit card statement to see that not only did they inaccurately charge me, but charged my card TWICE, for amounts of $ 60 and $ 160. I called the cab company and they made up a completely lie about me calling my boyfriend down and him get getting arrested. I don’t even have a boyfriend. Then they FORGED a signed receipt and sent it to my credit card company as «proof». These guys are LIARS and CHEATS. Do NOT trust them with your credit card info!

Just got a harassing message for New Bell, saying that my review, below, is unfair, as many things in it are inaccurate.
OK, it may be inaccurate NOW, but it was perfectly accurate when I wrote the review — which was seven years ago.
One star, because of New Bell’s horrendously late response, lack of attention to detail, and for harassing me.

After asking for a car for six people, I was told it would be 5 mins. 45 mins and 5 phone calls later we finally got a car that would fit 4. The guy on the phone had no care factor and no apology was given. Avoid these guys!!!

Find a lot of these reviews pretty unfair. Been using New Bell for nearly 8 years now, and they’re just a fine, no-​nonsense cab service. You call anytime 24/​7, tell them your address, they say ‘Five minute.” and hang up on you. Five minutes later a cab comes to your place and drives you where you want to go for somewhat-​negotiable cash. It’s a cab service! It does everything it needs to. Drivers vary, the way all workplaces have their a-​holes. Most are really great, some have their own crazy-​good cars, some don’t know how to use GPS. Work with it.

People rarely write reviews about cab companies when everything goes the way it should, because those stories aren’t very interesting. But this has the side result of making all the cab companies look really terrible, and making it really anxiety-​provoking to pick one. So here is a boring story. I needed to get from Bed-​Stuy to La Guardia. I called these guys. They sent a car in five minutes. The driver called me when he arrived, picked me up, and took me to the airport, and it was fine. The end.

They said 5 – 6 minutes 25 minutes later I called Pratt car service and they showed up in 3. Forget these guys. Choose anyone else

I joined Unilocal for the sole purpose of reviewing this terrible car service. To say this is the worst car service I have ever had is not doing its terribleness justice. It’s the worst service I’ve had anywhere for any service, ever. Maybe the time the dentist jacked up my root canal was worse, but this car service would be a close second
After asking the driver 6 times if he took a credit card at the start of the drive, he only answered after I threatened to get out of the car if he would not answer the question. Then he have some unintelligible excuse as to why he couldn’t.
Then he couldn’t understand the address we have him. Then he couldn’t read the address when we wrote it down for him. Then he couldn’t operate his gps. Then he couldn’t follow the gps directions. He avoided all convenient routes in favor of the most congested routes, and merely grunted when we gave him suggestions. It took 70 minutes from the Brooklyn bridge to Columbus circle.
Seriously it was so bad I thought I was on the show «Punkd».
Oh did I mention he nearly ran into a parked car?

I’ve been really lucky using New Bell so far. It’s been 2 months. Using them 3X a week to go into the city. I usually call around 7:50 and the car is there by 8AM. Not bad if you ask me.
The cars are a bit newer than other car services I’ve used and prices are average. When I take a cab back to Brooklyn Bed-​Stuy it costs around 22 from the city. Going into the city using New Bell it costs 27. For a car service I feel it’s acceptable.

I have recently moved and decided to call them again to see how they would do… They actually messed up really bad. Told me 7 minutes which turned to 30 minutes.
Messing up my whole schedule .
The day after I called and spoke to the owner who had read my review .He was obviously upset. I think he checked his employees as I’ve seen great improvement in their services .
They still say 7 minutes but the car is there in less time. As long as people learn to speak the truth it will work for me ! If they have no cars, then say it, it is ok, and if takes 20 minutes it is cool too but give me the option to choose.

New Bell is my go-​to. That’s because it seems to be the go-​to for Pratt, down the street from me. Timely arrivals on my past several trips with nice vehicles, good drivers, and reasonable prices keep me using them — usually $ 10 within two miles.

This is one of the few reliable car services in Bed Stuy — that I know of. I’ve been using them consistently for over a year; it’s generally fine. I don’t need fancy, I don’t even need comfort. I need a driver who knows where s/​he is going, and to be on time within 5 minutes or so. Every so often, something terrible happens with New Bell which makes me swear never to use them again. But, I don’t know any good alternatives…
Yesterday I sent a car to pick up a print order that I need TODAY for a special event. The print lace was closing at one, I called New Bell at 12:10. Should have been easy. But around 12:30 I called the printing place to confirm the pickup, and no one had been there yet. So, I called New Bell and the dispatcher put me on hold for 10 minutes, finally coming on line to tell me that the first driver he sent got «in trouble with the cops» and that he was sending a second driver.
Needless to say, I missed the 1:00 pickup deadline and I SWEAR, I am never going to use them again!
