NetCost Market

This is my go to place for genuine authentic Russian food. They have best selection of smoked fish, caviar, cold cuts: deli meats and sausages sliced to order. If you are not Russian you can look at NetCost Market as a local supermarket with a reasonable selection of cooked food for take out.
Cons: hard to park. Taking away one star for the lack of bike parking options.

Great shopping for your food needs. Prices are high, customer service is okay, looks clean. Lines to pay are long especially after 5pm or holidays.

Russian food heaven. They have everything. Meats, cheeses, quality produce. Amazing selection. The caviar section is insane — they have a huge variety of types and different sizes. You can get a tub of caviar! The deli and hot foods bar are fantastic. Oh and I can’t forget the fish. I can get my herring and «vobla» (dried Russian fish) fix here!
They have a great imported beer selection — there is Russian beer, Belgian beer, Czech beer, German beer and so forth. I even bought an Italian IPA. You can buy individual bottles too.
So many awesome desserts and various chocolates, pastries, snacks.
Oh and if you’re interested in this sort of thing — you can buy an entire frozen piglet. Eek.
Prices are very reasonable.
I was born in Russia and speak the language so the language barrier is not an issue for me. But fyi, the staff may not speak great English. Also, I noticed a few reviews pointed out that the workers were rude. Try going to Russia. Customer service isn’t even a thing there. This isn’t a place you go to for friendly smiles and chit chat. Although the last time I was here, the cashier told us to have a nice day. I was genuinely surprised. Anyway, if friendly smiles are what you are after, stick to Trader Joe’s. I hate rudeness and unfriendliness too but I just know not to expect much. Just come here for the awesome Eastern Euro food selection.

18^th street location in Bensonhurst is much better in terms of service, that’s why I go there every time I get a chance.

One of my favorite Russian stores in Brooklyn, they have everything from fruits & veggies, deserts, prepared Russian food, and packaged food as well. Most people that work there don’t speak very good English but thats not a problem for me. They have a great selection of everything and the prices are ok. Nothing to go out of the way for but if in the area, check it out.

My go-​to place for many needs. The dessert isle is a dangerous one as I tend to wander there and never leave without picking something up.
Great selection of fruits & veggies, fish, cold cuts, cheese, you name it! Reasonably priced, no complaints!
Only suggestion is to have friendlier, more welcoming staff. Most of them never smile and look miserable.

Food is OK… bur overpriced. Lines are always soo soo soo long! The express check-​out is too long and there is only ONE Express line! Long lines no matter the time of day, which is great for the business but bad for the customers. Also, people abuse the express checkout line and still bring in 30 items – I guess it is because they are Russian and can’t read? Who knows. You can find anything here you want or may need but they really need to lower prices. Also, good to come and people watch as a lot of these people come dressed in Chanel to go grocery shopping.

Great Produce. A fair amount of organic options in meat, fruits and vegetables.
The store is always clean, and the staff is pleasant.

This Net Cost deserves nothing less than 5 stars. I actually do travel to Net Cost via the subway from Manhattan at least 4 to 5 times a year. It’s when ever I get the urge to travel to Europe and I don’t have the time and I want some authentic Eastern Euro treats. Hey, I don’t even have to go through security or customs to get there!
Oh, and yes, English is not spoken by all the employees, which kind of adds to the «travel experience», but they are not rude, they are simply Russians from Russia and they do try to communicate. Do remember, there are always going to be not-​so-​nice people in every crowd.
I love the unique beer selection. The 16.9oz bottles and cans of .99c imported Russian, Czech and German beers are a total bargain! I mean come on! A buck for a delicious huge beer! I use a rolling suitcase to get them back to Manhattan. I pop them into the fridge until they are good and cold and PARTY! Gotta love that imported flava at a fraction of the cost of trendy NYC bars where similar beers can costs as much as $ 6 to $ 8 for a so-​called pint (which, by the way is really not a 16oz pint but a 12oz pour) during a so-​called Happy Hour.
Then there is also a vast selection of Eastern European provisions. Kielbasa, bratwurst, salami, head cheese, all kinds of delicious bolognas and so much more. Many different varieties of tomatoes and other veggies at great prices. The smoked fish department is complete. I suggest the smoked whiting and salmon. The bakery is huge. The chocolate aisle is to die for. There are so many unique imported chocolates to choose from it could take a lifetime to try them all.
The imported beers along with a little smoked fish, some kielbasa, nice hearty bread and a piece of European chocolate for desert makes for the perfect Euro foodie experience without the hassle or expense of traveling there. GO HOME PEOPLE! INVITE SOME FRIENDS! Happy hour awaits!
Please do not listen to any negative reviews about this Net Cost. Trust me and go see for yourself. If you are into farmers markets, food tastings or traveling Europe, take a trip to Net Cost and experience another New York shopping destination. It’s really awesome!

Best place ever. I’m Ukrainian and Russian and when I go to this store I feel as if I’m back in Ukraine at our baza. The food is amazing, though a little pricey, it’s well worth the money. There is everything from meat, fish, piroshki, kalbasa, to dark chocolate, kievskiye cakes, and a huge variety of teas. I would go here everyday if I could! The cashiers are incredibly cute too and very friendly :) I will work here soon as a side job for weekends when I’m not in school. I drive all the way from Long Island to the 18^th Ave store to get food. This is a great store with amazing products. I strongly recommend it!

Net Cost has three strong-​points: 1) Selection; 2) Price; and 3) Selection.
I have never seen such a large selection of Russian and Eastern European foods. There is a weighted, self-​help salad and entrée bar with at least four dozen Russian specialties. You’ll find salads like shubu and olivie as well as entrees like ground fish patties and blintzes. The beet salad is one of my favorites!
There are counters for both fresh and smoked fish. The smoked fish counter has many variations of caviar. This wouldn’t be an Eastern European store without a smoked meats section, and Net Cost does not disappoint. There are so many variations of kielbasa! You can also pick up Eastern European style bread. And don’t let me forget about the Russian candies; there’s no shortage here!
In addition to Russian specialties, Net Cost has all of the produce and basics you would expect at your grocery store. And Net Cost does not settle in regard to variations here either. There were so many types of eggs and yogurts.
Moreover, Net Cost offers a decent beer aisle with several craft options. They even had Baltika one through nine. Net Cost is certainly worth a stop if you’re having trouble finding a particular Eastern European beer.
Lastly, Net Cost offers several pricing tiers for its food. It offers cheaper produce and products as well as pricier options for most of its goods.

One of the perfect meals, for me anytime, when you’re in Brighton/​Coney.
The selection of prepared food and the price for them is rockin, what’s not (for me, and for global warming) is the amount of plastic containers that we have to use each time we come here. (Are those recyclable now or not in NYC??)
Israeli Salad is a creamy intoxicating mix of mayo, garlic, & eggplant blended till you can spread it on yourself like lotion.
Fish and chicken in aspec. For real.
All kinda of delish bread based treats filled with flavorful surprises.
So much. Go see.
Also a great place for the following: tea cookies & cakes, pickles, frozen vareniki, tea & beers, fresh veg & fruit, individual ice cream bars that taste like frozen cheesecake.
Basically a rockin, heavily non English speaking, treat of a non flight based trip to Eastern Europe, that you can eat. Amen.

Very unprofessional staff no English at all is spoken in store. Do not go to deli counter for anything unless you can speak Russian. The whole store is a joke by the time you get your stuff there is a line out the door to pay! Prices are high people are rude. The store makes you feel like your in some gulag in Siberia and not a market!

I am constantly throwing their organic chicken out, the same day as i buy it. happend to me at least 4 – 5 times in the past. its a convenient location for me, so i kept excusing them for it. it just happend again and instead of apologizing and fixing the problem, they were rude on the phone. spoke to the manager Victoria and Asst manager Kathy and they were both absolutely useless. There are obviously issues with either the way they date the food or the way its refrigerated. Organic chicken thats dated as packaged TODAY, should not smell! I look forward to placing complaints on this place.

I used to grab lunch form here and some products on the way home from where I used to work. Their sushi is always fesh, and I love their selection of deli meats, and pickled products. The downside is that they dont have many english speaking employees, so if you dont know what something is you are out of luck. Then the buffet type meats all taste the same. Everything taste like dill. Buy some sushi, some cold cuts, bread and anything packaged. Other than that steer clear of the buffet section.

Wide selection but i just dont trust these buffets anymore. stick to the breads, deli, fruits and vegetables… and chocolates :)

This market is great… kinda like a Russian Whole Foods.
I’m not at all Eastern European, though I do play a Soviet Spy on request, but it doesn’t take an expert to recognize this is a big, bright, clean store with a huge selection and lots of inventory turnover.
The produce section and dry goods areas are decent. The stars, however, are the prepared foods… tubed meats, breads, pasteries, entrees, sides, sushi, seafood. There’s a lot of stuff you aren’t going to find at a typical supermarket in NY, and stuff I’d be willing to try (or not), next time I go shopping. On this trip, I only picked up a few things, but the roasted chicken I got was 20% more meaty than the anorexic birds offered by my regular markets.
Maybe the Russian chickens are on steroids. I don’t care.

I asked the girl in the salad section to try a kani salad and she gave me some on a fork. I then asked to try some crab salad and she asked for my fork back and gave me some of that other salad.
I told her that is extremely unsanitary, unhygenic, and completely disgusting. Actually I wanted to, but all I said was «Did you just use the same fork?» She probably just felt my disgust, because as I walked to grab some sushi in the next section, she started YELLING at me that «some people» want to try ten different samples, and what did I want her to do give ten different forks?
Well, yes actually. That would be the right thing to do. Don’t save money at the expense of my health. How many forks of other people’s saliva did she put into that salad before mine? I don’t know, but someone really needs to investigate this place. Buyer beware.

I don’t shop here a lot, but when I want German Christmas products or cured fish this is the best location nearby, I have more often then not had the, huh, you mean you don’t speak Russian experience, well I don’t know what your saying, then the friendly grocer wanting to help you experience, but I find this is common to most Russian establishments for some reason they are much friendlier to my wife then to me.
They are way over priced, in comparison to say Belarus which is right down the block although it doesn’t have nearly the selection, and they do stock all of the meats organ meats of the old world, which I don’t particularly like but my wife occasionally craves.
They also have an incredible prepared fish section and the freshest herring imaginable, great smoked fishes, and a good deli with lots of east European prepared specialties although I don’t like their version of a stuffed cabbage.
I find almost exclusively Russian and other eastern Europeans shopping here, or the stray local or tourist, there’s never any parking its all on the streets with meters and it’s so close to the DMV that weekdays there’s never a chance of finding any,.

I was hanging in Coney Island and afterwords wanted to go to a supermarket nearby to pick up some food. Since I don’t know the area (only know the beach and boardwalk), I started walking, staying close to the train. I asked a few people and one person directed me here when I was about 2 blocks away.
This is is a huge market. Has a very varied selection of deli meats sausages and cheeses and produce. I got some of the salami (not sure what kind) and some Swiss cheese.
My only complaint was I couldn’t get any employees’ attention to ask a question so I actually called the store to have my question answered.
