I just raved about this place. After being a long time customer for years* I was really disgusted when the young white male waiter thoroughly neglected me the entire time, I had to ask him for help before asking another waitress who helped me immediately and then the only interaction this asshole gave me was when he saw fit to sneak me my bill before I was even done eating. Rude. Being rushed or racially discriminated against… I watched other diners who didn’t get their bill unless asked … I patiently finished my breakfast & coffee — made a complaint to the counter employee who apologized and gave me a discount. While I appreciate her understanding I was thoroughly disgusted and appalled… leaving jaded and exhausted by the experience!

Milk Bar is somehow classy and casual at the same time. Really great ingredients. Expect to pay $ 12 for your breakfast/brunch. It feels more expensive than that just because the place is so nice, but honestly it’s the same that I end up paying at Tom’s. The menu includes lots of toast, avocado, egg permutations. I hear the coffee’s good. But it’s the good ingredients all around that really make this place for me, and the service is friendly too.

First, I want to say that the food was absolutely delicious, so this review does not apply to the food, but rather, our overall negative experience here. We were visiting from out of town, and a family member suggested this place because they loved the food. We showed up at 10:30 and put down our name as a party of 4. We were told there would be a 15 – 20 minute wait. Though it was below freezing outside, we were willing to stand the short wait(there is hardly room to wait inside). About 15 minutes had gone by, and a member of our party went to ask about our status. They were told that we would be the next party to sit. Another 10 minutes pass as we watch four more parties of 2 and 1 arrive after us and get seated before us. I then went in to check. The man who worked there claimed that only 15 minutes had passed, and when I corrected him in saying that it was actually closer to 30, the man became defensive and said this to me, «Well, if you were eating here, we wouldn’t rush your party out.» This was not the point or issue at hand. They should have just been upfront with us from the beginning and told us that they only have one table that can accommodate four people, and that the wait could be very long. He also said something like«There’s nowhere else you could go where you wouldn’t be waiting.» Also rude and unnecessary. I also don’t understand why, after they realized that they had miscalculated the wait time, they didn’t begin to plan to seat us at two adjacent two-seater tables instead of holding out for the literally the only table in the place with four chairs. It was at least another 10 minutes after that we were actually able to enter and sit. That last leg of the wait was punctuated by various employees coming out into the cold to attempt to assuage us with«They have the check» and«They’re paying» and«They’re standing, now.» After all of that, they didn’t even offer an apology or offer to comp any portion of the(slightly overpriced) bill. In fact, when I asked for more coffee after my first cup, I was told this: «We sell it by the cup. Do you mean you want another cup?» Yes, yes. Clearly, that’s what I meant. I wouldn’t go back.

Always a wait for mediocre food served by the flighty and forgetful. I have no idea why so many people go here. So many people. So many hipsters.

Found this really cute little spot on Vanderbilt. You’d think on a regular Friday, they wouldn’t be too full but to my surprise they were bustling and busy with lots of customers. That’s always a good sign. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a super friendly guy who sat me at a table for two as I waited for my friend to join me. Water was served right away. He asked me if id like anything else and I ordered a coffee while I waited. Service was absolutely impeccable. When my friend arrived he was served with coffee moments after he sat down. We ordered a scrambled egg on toast and a smoked salmon on toast. Both were really tasty and perfect portion sizes. I do have an issue with them being cash only. I tend to stay away from those establishments. But I’m glad I had the chance to eat breakfast here today. Follow me @nycfoodiediary on instagram for pictures.

If you’re looking to live out your Clockwork Orange fantasies, you and your droogs should keep walking. Nary a full glass of milk in sight. There is, however, almost guaranteed to be a wait at this bustling breakfast joint. But that leaves you the opportunity to pop a squat on their outdoor benches to people– and dogwatch AND make new, upstanding friends to go splitsies with on the avocado toast and the cheddar biscuit. Bring cash and expect to feel you’re overpaying a bit.

SO cute! Not only was the place adorable but the food was fantastic! Run by some fun Aussies who know what they’re doing! No alcohol but really good coffee!

Food was really good. Split the cheddar biscuit and avocado toast + coffee. Great vibe but cash only. Only issues are the portions are small. A little overpriced in my opinion.

Absolutely love this place! I continue to order the cheddar biscuit and Australian iced coffee. The food is quick and delicious and very consistent. The only downside is the size of the space, but regardless it is worth the effort!

Took a ride through the park and was hungry for some brunch … Was looking for Another place but saw Milk Bar and decided to give it a try. Best decision of the day, it’s tiny but tasty. The cheddar biscuit — amazing, the full eggs super amazing … The Chicken Blat sandwich? Shut the front door! Their breads are the secret and simple clean execution on the rest. I never thought of Australian as a brunch cuisine but call me a koala, I’m in!

I came here with a friend for breakfast one Friday morning. We both had cappuccinos, which were good. We also had the avocado salsa toast with a side of poached eggs. It was good but the portion size was a bit small for the price. By the way, I’m not looking for a huge plate, but I need a little more than a slice of toast. It’s a tight spot and it was crowded. Also, it’s a cash-only spot. It’s unlikely that I would come back.

This place is small! Like everyone bumps into each every 2 seconds. The latte though, it was real good! The grilled cheese with raspberry jam on top? Yeah that was amazing too. So far the food got me hooked. They have a small menu but it’s perfect as they offer you a lil bit of everything you would want for breakfast & brunch. The waiter was very helpful too! Good service is a plus. Good food & service and I will go back.

Omg this place is amazing ! To grab a bite there, breakfast wise especially, just good! All of the stuff there, are delicious! I enjoyed everything what I ever ate there! I cannot really say what have I ate their, I just don’t remember the name of the dish, but it was good. They have Australian style of coffee, I personally loved it! You should go there and you will for sure have a good time !

I’m a little shocked that this place does not have higher overall reviews. It is definitely a breakfast/brunch spot. I have not tried their lunch because the menu choices do not look appetizing or appealing. I always order the Vegetarian Eggs with Avocado. The eggs are perfectly poached and the combination of the sourdough, tomato and cheese is filling, very fresh and dare I say sophisticated and French? It is a perfect stop en route to or coming from Prospect Park(on bike). I just think it is one of those unassuming, but high quality, local, neighborhood breakfast/brunch spots that should be commended.

Great cozy coffeehouse. Staff is friendly and the food is great! Try the cheddar biscuit with the bacon. It is to die for. Also, take a book to relax and read. Cash only establishment. There is an atm across the street if you forget.

I simply cannot take a trip to NYC without visiting here for at least one breakfast. First of all, they have amazing coffee(I believe it’s Counter Culture Coffee, but I could be wrong). Every time I have been, their barrista has made me an excellent latte, consistently surprising me by how perfectly made it is. Their food is fun and delicious. Most of the dishes are based off of the open-face sandwich concept. I almost always get the Full Eggs, which is a poached egg on top of ham, gruyère, and tomato(I always add the avocado as well), all stacked on top of a delicious slice of sourdough. Another not-to-be-missed item is the Strawberry Toast, which is basically a pile of sugared and sliced strawberries(not a mushy jam, but huge chunks of delicious strawberries) on top of toast. If you’re feeling particularly indulgent, go for the Cheddar Biscuit Breakfast Sandwich. It’s as good as it sounds(or maybe even better!). The service is always friendly and very patient explaining everything. I’ve been several times, and I always have a consistently great experience. The space is relatively small, so the best times to go are non-rush times. If you go too late in the morning on weekends, you may find yourself waiting for a while for a table. This restaurant is cash-only, so be sure you’ve got some on hand.

My wife and I took our brunch here during holidays. Great food, good coffees and the best service. If you stay in Brooklyn, this is your best option for your breakfast or your brunch.

I love Milk Bar. Yes, it does get crowded, but I’ve never had to wait that long. I always bring friends and share the salmon eggs with avocado, which is honestly more than enough for two people for $ 17. I also get the café au lait(even though that might not be on the menu… can’t remember) and it’s delicious. I leave having spent about $ 12 including tip, which is not outrageous for a nice meal served by nice people in a nice atmosphere. Just fyi: they only take cash.
