first time went there to get a haircut. The woman who washed my hair was rude and rough the water came into my ears several times when she shampooing me she didnt even bother talking to me but only pointed with her finger when she directed me to the stylist overall the haircut came out OK but i dont think i would go back

Haircut was ok, nothing spectacular but solid. My son’s haircut turned into a kpop cut, he’s a sporty kid who likes it on the longer side, it did not suit him, but it didn’t look too bad. He was looking for just a trim. His hair dresser took a lot of time on his hair, we asked for longer style(imagine a hugh grant wave) and it was much too short and spikey. I got Ed, the cut was fine. He wasn’t an artist or anything. Just slammed it out. He is NOT a finishing stylist, over crimped my hair so it looked funny. Both cuts were cheap though. $ 16 for my kid, $ 23 for me… but I had to deduct a star because of hygiene. Towels smelled slightly mildewy and the general smell when I sat down was one of greasy hair… don’t get that bc isn’t everyone’s hair washed? anyway, noticed the brushes weren’t clean, kind of a grimy place in truth, so i took a star off for that. I’m going to keep looking. My go to was Hair Lounge, but my stylist moved up to the UES location… too far for me.

This salon has been in the neighborhood for years but I didn’t step foot into it until this year. I must say, it is the BEST haircut I’ve ever had. It is so good that I switched from my stylist of 17 years to Eddie. My new stylist is Eddie and he’s amazing. I told him what I wanted and he worked his magic on me. It’s the same haircut I’ve had forever but Eddie cut it in such a way that for months after and up until I got my hair cut again, people would ask me if I *just* had a haircut. Yes, he’s that good. No matter which way my hair falls, I look cute. I don’t have to do anything(except run a comb through it) and it looks like I just styled it. With no additional products, he made my hair look fabulous. My hair actually had volume after Eddie cut it. WOW. The hair wash and scalp massage were also amazing. Total cost before tip was $ 23. LOVEIT. Please note, it is cash only.

I get a wash & cut here once in a blue moon and each time, i like the end result. Nice massage and nice cut. Not sure why, i dont use this salon as my regular lol but anyways… Unfortunately, this time was a rollercoaster. I wanted a simple layered cut today. Inside was packed full of people, there was a bit of a wait. i liked how the girl who colored her hair turned out… when it was finally my turn to get my hair washed, i wasn’t happy with the experience. She did not rush to wash my hair but I had water in my ear and a little on my eye and no head massage(bummer). I had a random stylist– not sure what her name was. She looks like a newbie but i gave her a chance. People have to start somewhere right? I showed her a picture of my ideal cut. She say okay okay and began to layer my hair. She was quiet and kept looking around, Her mind was elsewhere. That scared me alittle. I wanted to scream at her to pay attention to what shes doing so badly but i didnt want to cause a big scene and have her feelings hurt. She blew dry my hair more than cutting it. She spent about 15 minutes regular blowdrying my hair, straighten my hair with a blow drier 2 times. Trimming and layering took about 5 minutes. She didnt even section my hair! Had a couple of accidental tug on my hair or accidental tapping me with the brush. The blow drier was close call, the front piece flew off and back of the dryer was a bit too close to my face. I had to dodge it a few times. Other stylist were almost done with their 3rd customer! Anyways, forget about the picture i showed her, the end result was okay. Nothing changed just a bit more layered(thank goodness). i cant complain, it couldve been worse… i have analyzed other stylist while waiting, the guys seemed professional. Next time, i will choose my own stylist!

I’ve been gettin a haircut here since.2009 i believe. I always go to the owner, ah dee, for my haircuts. Hes really honest and gives me really good advices. Even when i decided to do the side shave, it was him who gave me the last push and i totally did it! I even started bringing my sister and my son to this salon and my sister is super picky with haircuts and she approves of him! My son gets his haircut from Amy and he loves her!!! Shes the only one who can cut his hair quick and nice enough without him gettin irritated! I recently got my hair highlighted and although it didnt turn out exactly what i wanted, i’ve gotten many many compliments from it and people have been asking me where I got my hair done so they can go get theirs too!

Got dragged here by my friend yesterday evening around 5pm. I was suppose to get a hair cut since chinese new years is next week. But instead I dyed my hair since my roots were growing out. I got seated and was given a book with hair color choices. It took me a while to choose the color I want since im extremely picky with that. However they were extremely patient about it which is awesome. I eventually picked the golden light brown color. Helen was the person that dyed my hair. She definitely knew what she was doing but did needed some assistance from her boss. The process took about 1 hour and 30 mins which didn’t seem that long. My hair came out perfect just the way i wanted it. However my hair does have the ombré effect since my hair perviously had multiple shades of brown. HAHA. I paid $ 55 to dye my hair minus tips. Which is a extremely good price because my hair is pretty long, it reaches to my lower back. One thing that made me upset was that helen dyed my hair washed my hair and dryed most of my hair but towards the end where my hair was almost try the boss took over and told helen to leave. Just so he gets tipped also. It wasn’t the fact that I had to tip him too but it was the fact that he did it on PURPOSE. but it’s whatever. Since my hair came out nice. I would definitely come back here.

My mom has been getting her hair cut here for about ten years in this same exact hair salon… she won’t go to anywhere else because ever time she get her hair cut here she is happily approved with the results… the owner is the one to go if you want to get your hair cut… he looks at your face see what matches the hair and starts giving you advice and telling you options on the perfect style for you… I only got my hair cut here once just because… It was ok… I wasn’t like super thrilled about it… I went to many hair salons and I haven’t found one that I really like yet… but this one is defiant my moms favorite place to get a hair cut… the place is clean… understand what the customer wants… my mom gets her hair cut less then half an hour including a wash… the blow out it about 15 mins… but I think out of all the hair salons places i been… this place works fast and efficient!

I’ve been going to Mandarin Hair Salon for years since it’s in my neighborhood and I’ve tried other hair salons but I find myself frequenting Mandarin more than the others. I’ve got my many of my haircuts here and never once was I disappointed. I’ve also got my hair permed curly twice here and I love the outcome of the perm. I highly recommend this salon. It’s probably the biggest one out of all the other salons in the neighborhood. It’s $ 20 for a haircut wash, dry, and cut and $ 105 for a perm that includes wash, dry, cut, and oil treatment. Very reasonable pricing and they do a great job. I’ve dyed my hair many times here before but I’m not quite sure of the current pricing since I haven’t dye my hair in so long. But I’m sure it’s under $ 100 and includes an oil treatment. I got my hair done by various hairstylist and they are all very competent. Minus one star for the hair washer, they don’t have the best hair washers. I’ve got a better wash else where that massages your head.

I like this place b/c everytime my hair gets effed up by another hair salon, this guy Yung ALWAYS(ok except one time. read below) manages to fix it! First this other place gave me some stupid wavy look with a tail looking thing at the end of my hair… soo uncool. And then I went to Taiwan and they cut it wayyy too short and layered it like mad. I was super fobby!!! And then my friends recommended me to go here to find Yung. He’s really nice and always gives his most honest opinion about things. He does tend to talk a bit too much sometime so I just pretend I’m sleeping so I don’t have to talk to him. I know I know. so mean.but there is only oh so much I can say about TVB shows. I LOVE every haircut he has ever given me and I get a lot of compliments too. He gets the most customers and really, these 4 stars I’m giving is for him and his assistants. And yes. that short hair in my profile pic is from him. Minus ONE star: So I made the mistake of going there on Tuesday, the day he’s off. I was stupid and desperate to cut my hair and heard this other dude was good(I think his name is Dot? Don?) and I asked for him. I HATETHISMAN. He is so freaking rude and everytime I asked him a question on how to do my hair he was being SUCH A DOUCHEBAG. ARGH! And then he gave me this stupid horrendous cut that was slightly below my ears and I felt sooo ugly. My sister saw me and laughed really hard… and so did my other friends. I went back a few months later to see if Yung can fix it… yea. not fixable… still bad. It’s so bad it has cut into my social life, I don’t even want to go out half the time b/c of my craptastic haircut. Perhaps it’s my karmic payback for cheating on Yung. There is no happy ending to this review T_T
