La Strega Restaurant & Lounge

Great restaurant! Excellent food, top quality and well presented. The staff are very professional. La Strega (The Witch in Italian) is an amazing find on Coney Island Ave. in Brooklyn! We had the rice balls and calamari for appetizers, and the short rib beef manicotti, and the pollo la strega (chicken) for dinner. Wow! The chef must be professionally trained, the food and the presentation is as good as the best restaurants in NYC, and I’ve been to hundreds of restaurants in all the boroughs over the years. For desert, the sweet donut balls are excellent, too. There is hookah service, if you’re into that. I’m not, but if other patrons are using hookah’s, it’s no bother at all to those not using hookah’s. There’s also a night club in the downstairs area with a DJ, and other entertainment on the main floor. Check their site for days open and hours. This Witch of a restaurant will cast a spell on you!

Had my 24^th birthday party here and everyone had an amazing time. The whole staff was very attentive throughout the whole night. DJ MarcoCee and DJ Riz had us dancing all night. For my guests I ordered 2 late night platters (boneless wings and pizza canolis). They were delicious! I would definitely recommend La Strega to anyone who wants to celebrate their birthday or just have a good party. If you get a chance to plan with Phil you’re in great hands, he’s the best. Breanna (not sure about the spelling) was my waitress and she made me feel right at home.

The waiter I forgot his name was wonderful. He was very informative and attentive. The chef even came out to ask us how everything was which was truly appreciated. The drinks were good and the food was amazing. We even ended the night with some hookah and the dj kept us entertained with the music being played. I would attend this place again. I’m surprised that it wasn’t more of a crowd, this is truly a hidden gem.

Last night was my first time at La Strega. I’ve heard so many good things about it that I had to try it for myself. It was a wonderful experience. I enjoyed a steak entrée with mashed potatoes and mushrooms. The service was exceptional from the chef to the waiter. The restaurant is especially unique. There aren’t many places that have a good combination of both dinner and nightlife. I strongly recommend going to this restaurant if you enjoy Mediterranean cuisine.

I celebrated my 28^th Birthday here and I am so glad I did. Never knew Brooklyn would have a gem like this. The service, food, décor and music was amazing. By far the one of the best places I’ve been to. No complaints at all. Our waitresses were very prompt and polite. The DJ was great had my friends and I dancing all night. It was easy to get to and the parking around the place is great. I am so pleased with this place and will definitely come back. My friends are planning their next event here as well. Thank you La Strega for an awesome ambiance and a fun time.

This spot will shock you with their great Italian dishes! First of all, the restaurant looks very clean and organized. The service is incredible and so are the owners. You get free wine with any entrée — great deal! I had about three to four of their appetizers and each one of them surprised me with a «wow»! I had appetizers like the eggplant Napoleon, eggplant caponata and Polpetti di ricotta (meatballs). My main meal was the salmon which also was very delicious. I am looking forward to coming back here :)

I stopped by on a Friday night to see what the buzz was about for this place, and I was actually very pleased.
the place itself isn’t very spacious, but the décor of this place really makes up for it. there are beautiful white leather couches on each side of the club, and dining tables on the upper level too, at these tables you can order dinner, hookah or bottle service.
all the tables were clean and neatly set, and very large and spacious
the bottle service is fast and the waiters are very friendly
the music was very good in terms of variety, from house music to reggaeton and hip hop, and the sound system was decent
the crowd was good too, not overly pretentious and an even ratio of girls to guys and there isn’t a strict dress code
the place also closes late which is a plus, we were there past 4
overall this place is great for birthdays, anniversaries, or a romantic dinner

Celebrated my 33^rd birthday here and had a great time! Dj was excellent and the wait staff was amazing (Patrick). Drinks were strong and delicious. Loved the décor and vibe of the place

Don’t know why this place isn’t more popular! For a FrIday night, I was shocked at the lack of people there… This place is great especially in an area were most of these lounges usually cater to one crowd only…
Lost a star bc although the food was good. It could’ve been better– the eggplant appetizer was burnt and the meatballs were ehhh… The mozzarella and ricotta were AMAZING. Oh and we brought a cake and they forgot to pack up the rest for us before we left guess that could also be our fault for forgetting but we were too busy dancing!
We are coming back for our friends birthday next week!!!

Came her for dinner and a night out with the boys, the food and atmosphere were on point! The food was absolutely delicious! The rice balls are an absolute must try and the cocktails were all made to perfect (they were very generous with alcohol). After we ate dinner we hung out and the music and atmosphere are what kept us there all night. Highly recommend this place for big group or birthday celebrations!

The place itself is beautiful. Clean and well kept. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by friendly staff. The music was great. Started out with the saffron arancini which is rice balls stuffed with provolone cheese served over bolognese sauce. It was amazing. Then I got a porcini dusted ny strip steak which was also amazing. Cooked medium rare just as I asked. The roasted Brussel sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes with the steak was a perfect combo. Our waiter Joseph was so sweet and friendly. We will def be back!

Did my 30^th birthday here recently. The place is super trendy looking and they have a phenomenal prix-​fixe deal here that includes unlimited wine. Appetizers were served family style and everyone chooses their own entrée. Food was pretty decent… some dishes were bland, while others were great. However, me and 3 of my friends ordered the tuna steak. I noticed my friends tuna steaks were red and only the sides seared (as it should be)…and mine was overcooked completely… tuna steak should not be white, but oh well. can’t believe how inconsistent the cooks can be. I heard the osso bucco was great. What really bugged me though was the service. Most people at my party liked the food, but the service was one thing everyone was annoyed with. The waiters took half the tables plates away while the appetizers were still on the table and didn’t replace with clean ones! Half my guests waited for like 10 minutes, unable to eat, and when I called the waiter over to ask him for plates he had the audacity to say «You want MORE plates??» Yes… that’s generally what people want when there are shared dishes in front of them… how absolutely high maintenance of us. I also had to keep asking them to bring out more wine… we kept running out, and they were not very attentive. I’m thinking the service might be so horrible because there was already a mandatory gratuity included of 18%. I am so mad at myself for adding a nice tip on top of that… that’s what happens when you have a few drinks. These guys didn’t deserve it. They have a super nice female waitress (who was my waitress when I came for dinner the prior week)… too bad she wasn’t with us because these guys should nto be in the service industry.
After dinner the place turned into a lounge and we went to the downstairs area for drinks. Really nice! Overall a pretty nice place and great bang for your buck. Just get some new waiters or no one will ever come back a second time. If your food is ok… at least kill the people with kindness.

I celebrated my birthday here this past Saturday. I had dinner with 20 of my friends then partied after with other people I invited. We had a pre-​fixe menu with unlimited wine and beer that was reasonably priced. All of my guests enjoyed the dinner as did I. I made my reservations through Christen who was very professional and assured me that my party would be amazing and she was right! Our server, Joe was very attentive to us during dinner making sure everyone had a drink. After dinner about 30 more of my friends joined the party, we ordered hookah and had an area to sit. I really liked the music, it was a good mix. It was wonderful having all of my friends there to celebrate with me! I loved the atmosphere and décor of the place, I highly recommend anyone celebrating a birthday to do so at La Strega!

Dependent upon the area of course, I’m sure your bar wouldn’t be very set high to hear you’ve been invited to a lounge in Brooklyn (esp. near Coney Island at that). Well, I was invited with a friend to celebrate her friends birthday. We didn’t know what to expect with a venue being on Coney Island Ave.
We pulled up to the venue and from the door we looked at each other as the entrance was appealing in itself before the door was even opened. We walked in, no cover was required (which is always a plus), and upon entry we were wowed. I mean it was a cold Winter night on a weekday so I didn’t expect a throng of people in the place. Nonetheless, the décor was super chic with couch lined walls and dim lit lighting in a purple hue.
The DJ looked like a guido, but what did that matter when he was playing ALL the jams I grew up on?! Hip-Hop/R&B all from the late 80’s spanning to late 90’s (yes I know how I miss the quality) was on heavy rotation. How could I complain?! The birthday girl was very pleasant and invited us to help her finish off all the drinks she paid for. My friend and I gladly complied haha.
I went downstairs just to check it out and although it was obviously vacant, it was huge and just as nice with room for a second DJ. I swear this place is so nice it should’ve been placed somewhere else. Either way, I wish nothing but success for this business as I will surely spread the word/​return to promote the growth of patrons to this venue!

I just celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday on a Friday night and it was amazing. The staff was very attentive and caring to our needs. Even the DJ played good tunes. The décor is very chic. One of the best looking lounges in NY. My favorite part of this lounge are the prices of drinks, bottles & hookah, they’re so affordable. You wont find better prices anywhere else. And seriously their hookah is definitely on point. I’d definitely return.

My girlfriend held her 35^th birthday party here. The place was really nice and the owner even decorated the back of the room with balloons for this occassion. He didn’t have to and it was very nice of him to do so. The DJ was great, playing the hottest dance songs. I haven’t danced like that in years. My friends and I got to sample the food. We had steak, chicken and riceballs. The portions were very small and it was not restaurant quality. But since we were eating at a lounge, I guess the food was decent. The service could have been better. The waitress forgot my drink order and I had to remind her.
Besides, food and drinks, the lounge offered hookah. My friend ordered one and while it was flavored, I tasted the tobacco, which didn’t really appeal to me. There is a lower dance floor, but they were completing their renovation, so it wasn’t open when we were there. I would come back here for the music and dancing.

Music too loud. Wayyy too loud. Came in here with a few friends to have a good time and we couldn’t here each other from a foot away. I’m 25 years old and my hearing is perfect, though I’m not sure after going to this place.
Drinks are overpriced and undersized, half the normal size of a mixed drink for $ 15… Not worth it.
Waitresses are pushy and impossible to hear (again, the booming music)
Owner was extremely rude to me. On opening night, when he should have been trying to make customers happy, I spilled a full $ 15 drink by mistake. I asked him if he could do something (like give me another one half price, etc) and his response was «Not my problem.»
I consider this extremely rude. He should have said something along the lines of «I’m sorry, but there’s nothing I can do…» If there was absolutely no way to help. There was no reason for him to cut me off and be rude like that, and I find it a disrespectful way to act towards a customer.
Bottom line: skip this place. It’s boring, overpriced, doesn’t care about it’s customers, and is trying to convince you that you’re having a good time when you’re not.
