Great tasting food for cheap. Fast delivery! Had the bistec sandwich which a lot of meat. It was well seasoned and tasty.

The best desserts I have had. Cakes are so tasty and so affordable. Other bakeries want $ 4/slice, here you can get a slice and it’s big and pay $ 2. The spanish food is so delicious. I would recommend it to anyone in the mood for good affordable food.

I ordered steak tacos and a slice of strawberry tres leches cake to go. The tacos were ok, but I was disappointed that they didn’t give any radishes. As for the tres leches cake, inedible. I took one bite and threw out the rest. To top off the mediocre food, the cashier charged me an extra dollar for the tres leches cake then what it said on the sign. Oh really? That’s cool, I paid it and I promise I will never be back.

This bakery is amazing. The sanwiches and tamales are excellent. I recommend the cemita of grilled cheese, the torta of breaded veal cutlet and the tamales. As for the tamales, stay away from the«rajas» ones, they are really hot to the point that the heat of the jalapenos overwhelms the flavour. The bread is excellent too. Try to get the«bolillo» bread when is just made — similar to the French baguette but smaller. Very well priced and the food is prepared in front of you. No shortcuts here!!!

Yes, the burrito is better than Rachel’s Taqueria in Park Slope, but not by much. The burrito didn’t have very much meat in it, and the meat that was in it, was bland. The rice was also bland, and it had(from frozen) carrots and green peas(WTF???). They also don’t add lettuce inside the burrito, and instead put lettuce, onions, avocado, and tomato on the side of the plate like a salad with no dressing. I ordered both kinds of tamales that they offer, and they were microwaved, but still cold inside. And, I thought maybe since it’s a bakery, the baked goods would be a redeeming factor, but the Mexican equivalent to a palmier was only OK, too.

i have been there on a few occasions and this weekends experience was one of the worst… perhaps if the staff was a little more attentive it wouldnt have been such a bad experience. the food was very oily and salty and the pastries were not good at all.

I love this place… I’m from California and it’s hard to find«real» Mexican food in the City. Sunset Park has it going on. Chinatown and a block or two of really good Mexican Food. I don’t know where else you will find tacos for $ 1.50!!! Also a big plus about this place is that they are open 24⁄7! You got the munchies? Come on over… They serve everything from Chorizo to Lengua. The staff is pretty cool too.

Who says there’s no good Mexican food in NYC? To find good find, you have to go straight to the source. In this case, Mexicans. And since there’s such a large Mexican community in Sunset Park, it’s only natural that they’d serve up some terrific Mexican food in the area. A place that I’ve gone to several times and have really gotten to like is La Flor. I used to live a couple blocks away and had way too many choices, so I scanned what’s good online and La Flor came up. I would have never expected this. When passing by, from the outside it looks like nothing more than a Mexican bakery. There are huge cakes displayed in the window, presumably for quinceneras. Walk in, though, and it a whole different story. Inside you’ll find what feels like a Mexican greasy spoon diner, with a few tables and chairs and a sit down counter where you can order whatever you want. And, there’s the little bakery section as well, right as you walk in; two display cases filled with some of the best Mexican-style baked goods you’ll find around. I’ve come here before and tried the baked goods, tacos and juices but forgotten how good they are. Then I came back for a visit to the old neighborhood with a Ki G. in tow. We ended up ordering a dish called pica-something. It was a flat tortilla with a layer of refried beans, grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato and queso blanco. In and of itself, it was really good. Then we poured the green sauce from the bottle all over it. Fantastic. We sat there in silence devouring the food like sheer animals. Yes, it was that good. Just a note that everything’s in Spanish and the staff doesn’t have a strong set of English skills. But that’s not a big deal. Just point at what you want, and they’re more than happy to serve you. I don’t think you can really go wrong with anything. Also, prices are reasonable. You can walk out well-fed and happy for under $ 10 a person, and probably even up with leftovers. For that meal, for the two of us, no drink, it came to just under $ 10, and we were happily full.

Day two of my weekend in Brooknam and my friend Susan N., after giving me a tour of Ocean Parkway and Canarsie, brought me to Sunset Park to get food because I was getting cranky. I hadn’t eaten any breakfast and the unapologetic hasidim drivers were pissing me off. In any case, I would soon de-grumpify myself thanks to the smell of the food in the air and the pastry display I was able to peruse while waiting for our food. We ordered something that I have never had before(and I don’t remember the name because I was too busy wolfing it down with Susan to pay attention). It was 3 cornmeal griddle cakes, each the size of a small saucer, topped with fresh lettuce, chopped tomato, a creamy white sauce, a sprinkling of queso blanco, grilled chicken and then a generous portion of «green sauce» from a squeeze bottle. This is the second time in a month I’ve fallen in love with sauce from a squeeze bottle. I need to get me a couple of them and maybe they’ll magically turn my sauces into, err, magic sauce? But I digress. The food was excellent, the portions huge, the service was prompt and so friendly. In fact, everyone there was super friendly, from the old guy sitting at the counter with his coffee and cake waving hello to us, to the guy who politely took our order, to the ladies who delivered it to us. It was the perfect way to begin our ramble in Sunset Park. If you are ever in the neighborhood — come here for your meal. The décor is not fancy at all, but your taste buds will sing with delight. I’m a fan!

I live a block from this place and, although I’m not 100% sure, I think this place operates 24⁄7. It’s nice to have a seemingly 24 hour bakery at my disposal so close to home. Most of the people here do not speak English so I’m always prepared to say, «Me gustaria chorizo torta con juevo y limonada.» For dessert I tap the glass case containing all of their freshly baked pastries and modestly say«One of those. Uno.», because I don’t know how to say«delicious sugar covered donut filled with cream.» My staple order consists of a torta which is a familiar sandwich with lettuce, mayo and other traditional sandwich fillings. I get the chorizo torta which stars the ground up Mexican sausage food product except I get mine cooked with egg, which is how I’ve always eaten my chorizo. The freshly baked bread that it comes on really makes this sandwich. Don’t forget to get the limonada. The limonada here is a drink made with lime, but it is blended without ice so that it is tart and pulpy. I am addicted to limonadas. Add some tequila to this and you have yourself a party. A sad, lonely party if it happens to be a Monday morning. I have seen people eating other delicious meals here, but I haven’t been adventurous yet and I’m afraid some people wouldn’t be able to understand English in case I asked them what they were eating. I hope to see more reviews here so I can branch out to some of their other goodies.
