This place was awesome… WHATHAPPENED! We called to order for my office last week and no answer. I drove to the location and the gate was down. This is so SAD!!! We will miss you Knife. :(

Great service and very cozy atmosphere… A nice downtown kinda of coffee shop but without the commotion.

— That Kale salad was huge — Loved the fries, unlike most ‘housecut’ fires, they really do taste house cut.

Wow. I was just apartment hunting in the neighborhood and decided to try the local eats. Hello, Knife! The sandwiches are divine! The Nemo burger was good, but the veggie sandwich was SUPERB. You know you’ve got a legitimate chef on your hands when you can make veggies taste as good, if not better than a burger. Small, very limited seating. Worth it.

first, order the memo burger and a stack of napkins. then, grab a seat by the window and think about how good life is while you unapologetically devour all of its greatness.

Negatives: I hate it when I call to place a take out order and Knife answers the phone, but tells me they’re actually closed. Then why are you answering the dang phone?! Please stop doing that! That said, they’re not so dependable in terms of figuring out when they’re open or closed. Positives: I really do like the food. It’s great. Adds so much to the Southside, WHEN they are OPEN.

Could do better without the counter attitude, solid food though and just don’t try to get breakfast after 1−2pm

Incredible sandwiches the padrino was tasty. What really made the sandwich was the tlc that went into it. It was juicy and fresh.

Solid and delicious sandwiches. We had Egg Sandwich With House-made Sausage and The Baller. Great coffee too. Store is small and low keys. Love it!

Fantastic food, clean interior, very quick, fair prices, great coffee, and the best chocolate croissant that I’ve had outside of France.

Great spot! Small, quaint, nice owner, and DELICIOUS food. My favorite item has to be the memo burger. In my opinion it’s one of the best burgers in all of New York. If you want great food then you must try Knife

Wow, that burger was amazing! One of the best in Williamsburg on par with the Burger from Roebling Tea Room. I had never heard of the place but noticed it on Unilocal the other day. That is when I saw it had almost a perfect rating which I hard to do so I put it on my list of places to eventually check out. Eventually ended up being tonight when I was in the area hungry and thought might as well check it out. I was not too sure about the place when I first walked in it was small, not many places to sit, and the menu looked to be Vegan at first but with the open kitchen format I saw the burgers on the grill and was sold. The menu has some good looking options once I found the meat options, but I knew I wanted the burger. This burger(The Memo) came out cooked to order which does not happen often, points for that. It is a house blend of beef, bacon, onion confit, fontina cheese, spicy roasted tomato aioli, brioche bun. Every bit of the burger was the perfect compliment. The bun was not too bready, but still able to stand up to the delicious dripping juices/fat. The meat was just the right blend giving the burger that ideal amount of juicy fat without being all grease. The onions were tiny bites of sweetness which stood up to the rich flavor of the bacon and the decadence of the aioli. After the first bite I was in love. To put it simply get the burger, and just be prepared to accept you will never make a burger taste this good. On a side note, if you do plan to get the burger eat it in the shop. It will never be at its full potential from delivery and you owe it to the burger to try it at its peak. Other than the food the staff was great. Super friendly, helped us figure out that the side of fries were big enough to share and even made sure that we got our bag back we left in the shop when we were wondering out in a flavor daze. We will be back!

I am ONLY basing this review on the Memo Burger and Fries, as that is all that I’ve had there. «Why?», you might ask? because it’s so god damn good that every time I go to order food from there(I’ve only had their food delivered, I’ve never eaten INSIDE the restaurant) I think about ordering something new but then remember how juicy and delicious that god damn burger is and say«f it» and just do a repeat order. The burger is so juicy with such awesome flavors… One would THINK that with a burger being that juicy, it would get all sloppy when gotten via delivery, but that has literally never been the case any time I’ve ordered it… I think it had something to do with the top notch brioche bun that it’s served on, which for some strange reason seems to be exceedingly more delicious than a regular brioche bun normally is. The fries, while slightly more expensive than you’d hope, are delicious in their own right, as well. To summarize: when you don’t feel like going out but want a bomb ass burger, order the Memo Burger and Fries from Knife and you’ll be all, «norm nom nom nom, Thanks for the rec., Pete!» :D

I just… didn’t like my sandwich. I had the cashew chicken panini. I love all of the ingredients separately, and I thought I loved them all together. And the sandwich was edible. But there was a pretty bad taste the whole time that overwhelmed the sandwich. I couldn’t figure out which ingredient was causing it, so maybe it was the combination? I’m not sure. It seemed like a pretty basic sandwich to have such a bad taste. The bread was a little too toasted too. Very crunchy without any softness. Other than that, my experience was okay. The employees were nice, the window seat was perfect in this weather, and they give you A LOT of meat, which is rare in my experience. So much meat that it was hard to eat it as a sandwich! Well worth the money if I had liked it. I wish I had!

What an awesome find! I’ll keep it short and sweet, tiny storefront with a couple stools, chill staff, throw back hip hop on the speakers… SUBLIMESAMMIES!!! My Grub Nemo Burger: no description or pic can do it justice(which I couldn’t even take cuz as soon as I opened that wax paper it was already half way in my belly) in house ground beef, onion jam, fontina cheese, tomato aioli, on a soft buttery brioche bun… That burger though! Juicy succulent… It was, just the tits. If I didn’t wanna be obese I’d down 3 of those bad boys Happy Place: another winner for sure, marinated(braised I think?) pork belly, sliced cabbage, cilantro and kewpie jap mayo on onion focaccia bread. Bring your toothless grammy along because the pork belly was super tender and required minimal chewing, like butta. I practically inhaled the thing. The addition of cilantro added an element of freshness for the richness of the pork belly and mayo. Fried Cauliflower with Zucchini butter: pretty self explanatory. Anything fried is bomb but I think this side can convert a meat eater, nuff said Easy on the wallet to boot, this feast set me back a reasonable $ 25.04. Def throw a couple bucks in that tip cup, much deserved. The sketchy ‘hood shouldn’t deter you from coming to this sammie haven. Go now, thank me later

Definitely 5 stars for this brilliant coffee shop /Restaurant where nothing is artisanal BUT everything is homemade and to the next degree. The owner it seems is always in the house to keep things running the ways they do. People live for the burger. I’m down to salad more than not: KALE, yeah. Coffee is brilliant I say. Def a gem /neighborhood keeper.

Knife. Years from now, when people look back to emulate or capture the essence of this generation, they’ll recall that restaurants were often given simple nouns like Knife. Or Colander. Or Baster. You get the idea. Other than my mild teasing, Knife is awesome! Great place for breakfast. I had a coffee and a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a roll because I’m a fat-fat and New York does that breakfast best. The guy behind the counter even kindly put a slice of mater on my sammich, though he may have done so with hesitation, wanting to charge me extra. To be fair, I asked for the extra ingredient while I obviously dropped a fat tip in his jar, which had a hilarious x-rated pun written on the side of the jar. You’ll just have to visit to find out what that hilarious, x-rated pun was, won’t you? At any rate, the sammich was good, but not the best I’ve had. The roll was great. The bacon was fine, the cheese was… I don’t remember the cheese so I guess it was unmemorable but not bad. The eggs were scrambled. The coffee was also good. The space here is small, and there are a half dozen or so stools next to a bar. It’s near a school, so moms and pops come in and out with child in tow. It’s nice. Looking forward to coming back.
