I recently«discovered» this great store that reminds me of EFE that used to have stores in Brighton Beach; only this store is much nicer! They have an extensive selection of Turkish breakfast pastries such as borek, simit and pocha along with about a dozen flavors of Green Mountain coffee. Prices are very reasonable and the people who work here are friendly, efficient and helpful. My one minor complaint, which others have also noted as well, is that there is not enough room where the self service coffee bar and pastries are located, so people are super packed in on top of each other during peak times. Another nice thing about this store is that it is located right next door to the Kings Highway B/Q MTA station!

I serendipitously found this amazing grocery store after getting off the Kings Highway stop on the Q train. It was over 90 degrees, I felt lightheaded and went into the first store that I could find.(I was in the area in order to buy something off of Craigslist). So, I will admit to my false assumptions here. I have been to the Sheepshead Bay area of Brooklyn before and I assumed it was a Russian enclave. So, I was a little confused at first, because when I walked around the store the fruit/nuts/goods were reminiscent of a Turkish bazaar. [Side note: I adore Istanbul, it’s my favorite international city… I try to go back whenever I can.] But when I saw Kashkaval cheese, all sorts of Halvas, borek, I thought to myself this *must* be a Turkish store. I then confirmed this at the front counter. I purchased some of the dry papaya(with no sugar added!). It is simply amazing. Still full of juice. I am doing my best to not finish it, by savoring each piece at home. I have not been able to find this in the states. I then saw Apricot Paste(think healthy fruit roll ups) and felt a nostalgic lump in my stomach. My immigrant parents used to buy this exact middle eastern treat in bulk from Toronto during my childhood and we would transport it home over the border, since we couldn’t find it in the states in the ‘80s. The choices of raisins, nuts, dates is pretty amazing for a small grocery store in this part of town.

Poor customer service, espcially the owner. purchase some food from there, found out they are expired, take it back for exchange or refund. the owner refused to give money back because the box is opened. this is nonsense. will tell my friends and family to stay away. i worked closed to this store, the coffee is very fresh, but the half and half and milk is not, probably expired too… wordless do not recommend

Very conveniently located under the B/Q train station, small but has everything I need. Love the nuts. Going crazy for those. Clean and very Friendly staff. The butcher is good. Custom orders taken. That bread they sell is delicious. Will I go there — I stop there when ever I get there.

Good coffe selection but in a bad spot. while u are trying to make ur cup of coffee there is ALWAYS someone right behind impatiently waiting to make their cup. It is always busy, but it is worth the short trip.

This is probably one of my absolute favorite stores in Brooklyn. I always stop by when I am on Kings Highway. For such a small store, it really has everything you need.

Worst place to go to. I went there today and such horrible service. They treat their customers like crap. I complained about being skipped in line and the expired cake. The cashier started laughing at me saying that I should have said something. The customer she charged before me even asked her why she didn’t charge me first. I also voiced my complaint and she told me I should have something said something sooner. When I asked if she was blind to all the stuff I put on the counter she told me to shut up. I truly believe this was because I was the only person that wasn’t white in the place. At the end of the conversation I received no apology and she cursed me in a different language. I do admit I returned the foul language but what kind of business treats their customers discriminately and so harshly? Then this other person wearing a scarf got involved and said I was only buying 3 dollars worth of stuff and I shouldn’t have complaints. In this tight economy any money is better then no money but the employees at this business don’t care. I will be sending the Bbb a complaint not only about their nasty behavior but they also had no letter grade up and they sell food. I also saw the butcher handling the meat with no gloves and complaining only encourages nasty behavior. I hope they enjoy a visit from the health department as well.

I love this place, conveniently located right off the B/Q Kings Highway Station, it’s a constant go to spot of mine. They have a large selection of nuts, dried fruits, cheese, olives, bread, coffee, candies, baklava, halva, and other Russian/Middle Eastern specialty snacks. The staff is really nice. I think the prices are moderate to low, for these gourmet specialty products. It’s always crowded inside! It’s definitely a diamond in the rough!

Nice little speciality food store with great cheeses, nuts, and other speciality things… My favorites are the baked goods/pastries I think the spinach pie is good but the croissants and danishes are even better! Always a good option for breakfast/lunch on the cheap.

Kings Gourmet Food is simply Awesome!!! It took me a while to walk in, as I’d walking by it for months, simply because i wasn’t sure what was in store for me inside… From the moment you walk in, you feel as if you’ve just been instantly transported to Turkey, with countless products lining the floors to the celling. Simply put, the store has it all… From dried fruits to nuts, from an assortment of olive varieties to fresh baked breads pipping hot in plastic bag(labeled from Crystal Bakery and are labeled as Kosher), so fresh that you could eat it on the spot. Also, in the back of the store, there is raw fish and meat(marinated as well) available, thus making it a one-stop shopping experience. Also, this place can be considered a mini sweet tooth heaven with the sweets/chocolate/Halwa(Turkish Delight) varieties. They also teas, coffee, and a variety of baklava, as well as an assortment of patties and baked goods. In the refrigerated section, one can find Turkish drinks(Cola Turka, etc), cold cuts(halal), as well as several cheese varieties. Overall, the place is almost always busy because it caters well to the community with great product choices at fair and competitive prices. And, the staff is friendly and thus make the visit pleasurable.

Excellent gourmet Turkish grocery(with some Russian thrown in for good measure). I come here for my feta(they have multiple kinds, including domestic and imported), lebneh, ayran, various shelled nuts, baklava, and other goodies. My favorite, though, is the olive station, which offers ~10 different kinds of olives, some stuff with peppers/garlic. You can try as many as you like and spit your pit into the plastic containers they leave out for this purpose. And the shelled peanuts, which used to be $ 1.99/lb. until they realized they were giving it away, is still a great value.

i’ve been here many times, especially when i get to visit a blind friend who lives 2 blocks away. this reminds me of similar places i normally see in Chinatown, but this has european-looking people running the business and attending to you. i can easily spend $ 30 on nuts, chocolates, candies, dried fruits, pastries here LOL i think their prices are a bit higher than similar stores. but i like their coffee. some customers behave surprised when they see different looking people like me buying here — and I behave like ‘I don’t give a damn’ LOL. hello, we’re in NYC, OK?

A small store with mainly delicious Turkish goods. Everything from olives to eggs to candies to biscuits can be found in this gem of a place. They also sell meats and fish at the back of the store, which seems out of place, but whatever. Staff is friendly.

For some last years they continuously deceive their customers! They sell just chocolate as «peanuts in chocolate». The note with price tells«Peanuts in Chocolate». If you ask them«where are the peanuts here?» They will answer«Oh! It is a kind of mix but it’s only for today» But«today» is lasting for 3 years. They are liars! The cashier is rude, the owner is unavailable. «Great» business!

Prefect place to get all your Turkish ingredences! Friendly service, great quality, good prices, and prefect location, tucked away underneath the Q, B subway stop. They have any nut, dried fruit, tea, turkish pastry you would want to find at a Turkish spot. And are better priced then all the stores in this area for the quality that they provide. I make a pit-stop here after a hard workout at the NYSC half a block away to pick up some great snack along the way home & for the week. If your in the area and haven’t checked it out, do yourself a favor and get to it!

Tip: free olive samples! Also, great mystery candy and snacks. I love the yogurt drinks, pastries, fruit nectars and bulk turkish delight. A great place to stop for a cheap snack or light grocery shopping.

Love this place! Fresh coffee and great selection of boxed teas. The store is brightly lit and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I’ve been wanting to try more of their speciality products in the back but I’ve greatly enjoyed their grab-n-go turkish snacks thus far.

probably one of the cleanest places to pop up on kings hwy in gravesend since i’ve been here. the place has incredibly fresh gourmet style middle eastern food. rotisserie chicken and grilling in the back, fresh salads and hummus. desserts like baklava and rice pudding. they also have a selection of grains, nuts, olives and dried fruit. Kings Gourmet caters and delivers for free and they’re open till midnight! i love a place where you can get great food at ridiculous hours!
