I’ve grown up in Sheepshead Bay but never been here until recently. I saw it and had high hopes. The minute I walked in, the staff was busy but no one acknowledged me or let me know that they’ll be with me shortly or anything like that. I stood there while the staff made sandwiches for this woman. After back and forth between the staff, the woman got her sandwich«on the house» for some reason. After she left, one male staff said to another«what a piece of ass, imagine having her as a teacher?». Nice… while I may or may not disagree, you shouldn’t do that in front of customers. The sandwiches were expensive and mediocre(you do get a fairly large sandwich). I’ll give them another shot and revise accordingly.

the food here is good, bread is fresh and this is the old classic hero shop you dont see much anymore with Brooklyn being so trendy. The bad here is there is really no place to park and the prices are kind of steep for a basic cold cut hero.

Came to Jimmy’s Famous Deli sandwiches on a whim. I thought for a good quick Italian American hero should take the hunger pains. I enter and am greeted by what I guess was an apprentice sandwich maker. He looked clueless behind the counter. A second person standing next to the kid must’ve been the owner. He was on the business phone and cutting my fresh mozzarella at the same time. I asked for grilled chicken first and the kid looked at the guy and asked if they had any. Keep this in mind it’s 11am grilled chicken should be coming piping hot of the press at this time. I had to settle for fried. Then I got the works. Seeded Italian Hero. Lettuce, tomato, onion, oil, vinegar, and black pepper. Price $ 10 hero and $ 2 for 16oz Apple juice. After leaving to sit an eat my hero. Bread was crunchy outside soft in middle. The chicken cutlet extremely thin as well as the fresh mozzarella. When the tomato is cut thicker then not only the cheese but the meat that’s a little bit of an issue. Although this business has been around for decades it looks as if it’s starting to fall out to better competition. Unless the owner begins to step up his game. Add more meat to bread ratio or fix prices. he will be an after thought. This will be my first and only time visiting Jimmy’s. 3 stars goes for overall flavors of my hero.

Living in the neighborhood my entire life, I’m ashamed to admit that this is my first time here. It’s fairly priced heroes and they sell cold cuts by the pound. My favorite from here is the prosciutto hero with mozzarella cheese. I think cheese cost as an topping, about $ 1. It can get costly, going up to $ 10 for a relatively large sub. The best is to split one with a buddy.

Ive been eating sandwiches from Jimmy’s since I was a kid. The meat, bread and produce are always fresh. They make a nice size sandwich for the price. My favorite sandwich is the Italian Combo with the works.

I was working in the neighborhood and was starving. I wasn’t in the mood for any ethnic food. Just a simple good olé american hero sandwich. I remembered that there was this deli shop that’s been here for a long time, so I decided to go there. I was kindly greeted by two high school kids working behind the deli counter. I gave them my order. Maple honey turkey, swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato and little bit of mayo on a roll. Simple. By the time I decided what to drink the sandwich was ready. I got my favorite snapple bottle, gave it to the kid and he rang me up. «That’ll be $ 12″, he tells me. I paused for about 3 seconds and asked him „how much was the sandwich?“.» $ 10″, he tells me. Gave him a twenty, got my change and left. I wish I had read the reviews on Unilocal.NEVERAGAINWILL I EVERSTEPFOOTINTHATSHOPAGAIN!!! $ 10 for the simplest of sandwiches. It’s not like the sandwich was even a nice thick sandwich. 4 to 5 slices of turkey. 2 slices of swiss. 2 slices of tomato and some shredded lettuce. 10 dollars!!! Even the snobiest delis in park slope don’t charge that much. $ 7 tops. Save your money and go somewhere else!

I’ve been going to Jimmys Heros for 30+ years. I’ve been there twice in the last 30 days. The first time I ordered two Ham and Swiss Heros. Wow, the prices went up, $ 9 for a ham & swiss, ridiculous. I took them and me and my wife opened the wrapper and said to each other, «wheres the meat?» Subways put more meat on their heros than these had. My wife said not to go back there. But, i returned yesterday and ordered another $ 9 ham and swiss hero. Took it to the beach and opened it up. Not as bad as last time, but still light on the meat. The last two times i was there there were different people working behind the counter. It doesnt feel like a neighborhood store anymore, i didnt feel welcomed. You used to be offered a pickle once in awhile which always made my day. I guess I’ll be going to Silverstar for my heros for now on.

Let’s start with why they didn’t get a fifth star. Because of the high prices for such simple sandwiches. Way over priced. This ain’t even Manhattan it’s expected there. But the customer service was great they gave me a sample of the chicken cutlet. Both front of the house service guy and girl were nice. The mighty door pickle was good the cole slaw really good. Mac salad was not bad but wouldn’t get it again. The the sandwiches were good fresh bread, fresh cold cuts but way over priced. Over all good experience but WOULDNOTCOMEBACK here. unless I have Craving for sandwich and I can’t find another place. But I think i can find a cheaper just as good a sandwich.

I love it here… Call in your order… make sure U are specific and get them to repeat what U ordered so there is no mistake. I had that experience once and learned… Drive by and someone will come out and give U ur sammich. I also tell them what change to bring and throw the guy a buck or 2… It’s worth it… Now I want a roast beef with swiss. extra lettuce, tomato with oil and EXTRA vinegar S&P too LOL Debbie B.

The best sandwich place in Brooklyn! Victor is an amazing owner and has such a kind heart. The sandwiches are huge and well worth the money. The chicken cutlet with the works is fresh out of the oven and absolutely delicious. This is definitely my new go to sandwich spot!

Best Heros in Brooklyn. A turkey and cheese hero with the works is what you need to get. The oil and vinegar they use is the best!!! Won’t be disappointed.

I remember coming here as a kid place was awesome back then and still is today. This place is legendary been the for over 70 years!!. I have gotten the same sandwich since I found this place and it hasn’t changed a bit now that’s amazing! Since I moved to the west coast I have not found a place like this! We have jimmy johns, jersey mikes, etc which does not even compare! I make it a point to stop by a couple of times on my trips back to NY. Victor keep up the good work and thank you!

Good sandwiches. The place is old school and I love that, but they need a small facelift. Maybe think about creating a menu. The hot pastrami is microwaved, and that says something. $ 10+ a hero is ok but you gotta offer more.

I have been coming here since probably before I was 5 years old. This is the go to place for heroes anywhere! This place has been kept family owned and they have always been incredibly nice. All of my friends and family know this place. Whenever talking about food among us we just say«jimmys» and everyone instantly knows what we are talking about. They have a hand full of younger helpers there who have always been rly nice and make great sandwhiches. I just wish the prices were the same as 25 years ago because 10 bucks for a turkey hero definitely makes me frequent here less. But it is the best hero around hands down!

The Good: Jimmy’s is a neighborhood spot. It’s not another lame sushi spot, it’s not Uzbeki/Tajiki/Turkmenistani and other former Eastern Soviet bloc cuisine, and it’s not Russian food. It’s a rare piece of classic Sheepshead Bay Road that hasn’t been adulterated by the boring trends of the area. That’s a huge relief. It’s an old school sandwich shop with familiar options, nice guys behind the counter, and some variety in what is offered. You get your regular cold cuts and you get some rotating hot options like the chicken cutlet hot hero or veal cutlet depending on the day. There’s also a vat of daily soup. The Bad: The price for a hero is outrageous. On what planet is a ham, swiss and mayo with lettuce and tomato worth $ 10? Especially in this part of Brooklyn, that’s way over norm. That could fly for a hot hero, sure, but not a simple cold cut. There are big name delis with fantastic quality meats and other products in way more expensive areas up in North Brooklyn that sell comparable heroes for no more than $ 7.50. I like Jimmy’s and I’m not against coming back if I want a big sandwich on the run without going too far, but man, they really have to re-evaluate their fees. I want to give this place a 5 so bad for its value to the neighborhood, but I just can’t do that. I will be back here time to time; my friends are fans of this place and for a nice lunch outdoors by the water it’s a cool place to stock up at, but even they say you’ll get way more bang for way less buck a short drive away.
