In for a hot minute and had to get some of my West Indian food… Golden Krust is always great for a quick meal. Stew chicken is my favorite, peas and rice, vegetables and festival. Yummy Yummy! Get some!

Even the best cooks are allowed to have a bad day in the kitchen. A bad 3 or 4 days? I tink not. My last few visits to Golden Krust for takeout have been awful. You can’t rush Caribbean cooking and lately the food prep here definitely tastes like the chef has been going at top speed on the burners. Super fatty, undercooked oxtails. Hard, crunchy rice and stale tasting plantains have earned this spot a downgrade. Management needs to have a sit down with the cook about how to turn out well cooked, tasty food, no matter how huge the waiting crowd is. Tonight, I had to put my entire oxtail dinner in a pot and let it simmer. There was no way I was throwing $ 12 worth of food in the trash. Two stars ONLY because Golden Krust’s patties are really the best around.

I’ve been on a serious porridge kick. After missing the opportunity to grab porridge from my fav place(Reggae Café… Unilocal it!) I quickly plugged in «porridge» in the search tab and hoped for the best.(I trust Unilocal to make a gamble like that) I was happy to see a reviewer mention their cornmeal porridge! My fav type of porridge! Even luckier, I was a block away! I was informed they only serve oatmeal porridge now. I almost left but the server said(in an West Indian accent) «Try it. It’s the best. You’ll buy 1 now and come back for 2 later!»… I took his word and grabbed a cup of it for $ 3.50! It was soo good! Whoever made it cooked the hell out of those oats, soft, gooey goodness! Definitely bookmarked to scratch my porridge itch! P. S. my coworker says they have the best beef patios in all of BK. I can’t vouch for that but hey you never know!

The food was edible. Fast food style atmosphere. Nothing special.

Golden Krust is the Taco Bell of Caribbean food. it is not fantastic. But the spicy beef patties are hot both in seasoning and temperature and they cost a full dollar less here than at Grand Central Station. This location is newly renovated and looks clean. The peanut brittle is pretty good too.

It’s the usual here. Some mornings the saltfish is a bit on the salty side. The dumplings that comes with the breakfast is good… nice and flaky and not greasy. I like this spot because the breakfast is always ready when the it’s open… no wait — like some other Golden Krust.

This was my first time at this chain establishment. The food wasn’t totally awful, but not up to the quality that I’m use to. I ordered the curry goat and rice. The goat was tender, but could have used alot more gravy, the rice was a little al dente, and the coco bread didnt seem the freshest. I’ll definitely be on the hunt for better Jamaican food in the area. But it was a decent spot for a quick meal.
