A bit overpiced but their salted caramel apple is the best in the area. Love that theyre also open til late.

I didn’t love the salted caramel apple pie, but I must admit the buttermilk chess that my husband was munching on was really good. I love the whole vibe of the place but $ 5.75 for a slice of apple pie that I didn’t love… was steep!

An old English looking joint with hipster MacBook using patrons finishing work surrounded by delicious pie. Upon a recommendation from a friend, we came all the way from Queens to try out their amazing pie. With seasonal selections, their pie flavors can change from day to day. We ordered the Lemon Chess and Sage cranberry crumble, $ 5.75 each, whipped cream extra $ 0.25. As a custard lover, the lemon was not as sour as expected and great consistency. Now the crust, is not the normal buttery flakiness you’d expect. It was very thin, reminded me of baklava. So thin it gets difficult to cut. My friend ordered the cranberry crumble. The crumble being the best part of the pie hands down. Overall both were solid choices, but from looking at other Unilocal reviews, their lavender honey pie seems appetizing. Perhaps the next time we venture this far out of our hood, we can try more unique seasonal flavors!

I love pie, and saw this place featured on a TV show during my flight to New York, so decided to check it out. The exterior and interior are very cute; they reminded me of an English tavern. All of the employees were super down-to-earth and friendly too. It’s not a large place, but there are a number of tables/chairs plus self-serve water. I tried the cranberry sage pie and my friend got the lemon chess, and we shared both. They were both a little sweet but the tartness of both also helped cut down the sweetness. I thought the most unique part were the pie bottoms, which were more flakey than crusty. They generally have three categories of pies(custard, fruit, and chocolate), using fresh seasonal ingredients and with changing flavors. They have a few non-pie goods too. Would recommend for other pie lovers like me! =)

I have been going to this adorable spot for years. Ever since I moved to NYC it has been something of a gem to me and a great meet up spot with friends. The last time I went there though, I was extremely disappointed in the customer service there. The woman that took my order made me feel so uncomfortable and almost bad in placing an order for two slices. She made me feel like that was too much for her to handle. When she brought my order back to the counter, she literally slammed the dishes down and made the loudest hmmph. Even when I was leaving she acted as if I was in her way as I so kindly took my plate from the table to their dish area. It’s really tough for me to give this place any less than 5 stars because I love the pie so much but their staff could definitely use an improvement. For me service is more important than the actual food being served and I have to say, it made me feel that things were going downhill at Four and Twenty Blackbirds. Not sure if I’m that thrilled in coming back. :(

Oh my pie! The salted caramel apple pie(which is year round on the menu I believe) changed my life! So cheesy, but so true! I’ve have many pies in my life. Four & Twenty Blackbirds takes the pie Haha It’s freshly made in house with the most flakey thick crust I have ever had the pleasure of eating! Perfectly thin slice apples with a ton of magic in them! All put into one sexy slice of pie! The super friendly staff, beautiful quite space, Stumptown coffee, loose leaf teas and not far from the F/G trains in Gowanus = yes please! The music is always so lovely and fits with the shop. The prices are not too bad for what you’re getting! A thick and sexy slice of pie! They always ask if I’d like some whipped cream. But I don’t! It’s perfect enough. Come check this place out and leave the laptop at home, read a book, have a cup of coffee, talk to a friend or to yourself lol! Great job Four & Twenty Blackbirds

Hold me in your arms, sweet, sweet Chocolate Chess. Never let me go. Unless you are going to get the side of whipped cream that I 100% totally should have ordered but didn’t.(Rookie mistake. No worries, I will right my wrong next time I see you). Honestly though, this place is too cute. It’s Brooklyn bakery at its finest. Situated close by to Morbid Anatomy & The Bell House. Hit up some pie before you go indulge your dark side or grab a libation.

Awesome pie place. Personally I’m not a huge fan of pies but my oh my did this place change my mind. I tried three different types. The best being the matcha pie. I ordered a whole pie in advance the first time. The second time, I came back to try more. It’s a nice small place but awesome area to catch up with friends. The crust of the pie can be a tad hard but overall, I love it. The matcha pie taste like ice cream. Yum.

I visited twice while visiting family/friends in Brookyln. I wanted to give 4&20 Blackbirds 5 stars BUT my first visit, though the pie was seriously spectacular, the chic behind the counter was bougie as hell. I ended up getting the pumpkin which blew me away. It was phenomenal. With the dollop of real whipped cream, this pie was freaking amazing.(side note – I wasnt crazy about the crust though. It was kind of tough. My fork kind of wouldnt get through it. Had to break out the fingers.) I actually sat at my table, and battled with my mental self for a good 10⁄15 minutes about whether to buy another couple of pieces of pie to take back with me. I really battled with it, and the ONLY thing that stopped me was the chic at the register. I even went as far as to take the money out of my wallet, holding the $, the struggle was for real! But behind the counter stood my block. She pie blocked me bro! Second time, oh the second time… the cashier was SOOAHMAZING. She was so sweet and pleasant! Even the sound of her voice was just screaming at me buy more pie buy more pie! And so I did. If anyone who works is reading this, the short black girl with the curly afro and glasses – shes awesome. Give her a raise. The second go round I took the Eggnog crème pie(forgot formal name) and the delish pumpkin pie home with me. The eggnog one was so interesting! I like putting interesting things in my mouth. I dont think I would buy it again given the chance, but I enjoyed the experience. The pumpkin pie though, I really should have just bought a whole one. I like this place. $ 5.75 for a slice is costy, the place is small and getting a spot to sit isnt too farfetched. Definitely worth a visit if in Brooklyn!

I went to Wholefoods next door to get ingredients to make a cheesecake, and my friend made a quick stop here for their famous matcha flavor cakes, only to find that those goodies were sold out. She ended up picking up two slices of apple pies, we had a mini dinner gathering with homemade food, and that apple pie is probably the best I’ve had in New York. It’s baked so perfect that even after hours we bought it, it’s crispy outside, while the apple inside was still yummy with the right flavor — not too sweet or overpowered by the cinnamon. I wished we had a scoop of vanilla ice cream since that’s my go-to combination for apple pies. Now I’m thinking about ordering a whole pie for Christmas so we could all try the goodness again.

PIEPIEPIEPIEPIEPIE I love you. I need a bigger stomach to try all the pies here or a large group to go with. The first time I tried Four & Twenty Blackbirds was when my friend brought a box of their pies for everyone to share. I don’t remember any of the flavors as there was too many, but I do recall the apple being especially delicious. I was finally able to go in person. The day I went, they didn’t have too many of the flavors I wanted but I was able to get the Black Bottom Oat. So yummyyyy! I thought it would be too sweet, but it wasn’t. It reminds me of a pecan pie, but better because it has a chocolatey bottom. I was also able to try the Lemon Chess. Not a huge fan of that one. The pie was somewhat liquidy and not tart enough for me. The crust was good though. Each slice is $ 5.75 and they have a $ 10 credit card limit. So much money for pie, but darn I love pie too much. Have to come back to try every flavor, except maybe the mince one.

Believe the hype. Get the salted caramel apple. Seriously, it’s like heaven in a pie. While I do have a to go place to score my favorite apple pie(in a small shop located somewhere in Charlotte, NC), 4&20 is now my place to go to when I can’t make a trip down to the South. Why is it so good? Well, let’s talk about the crust. Salted and crusty, kind of reminded me of a pretzel-like crust. That was honestly my favorite part. On my visit, I also got the pumpkin pie. It tasted good but not the greatest pumpkin pie I’ve ever eaten. Would I come back here again? Of course but only for take-out. The line to order pie is extremely long and the seating is very limited. I literally have to fight for seats to sit down anywhere to try my pies. Therefore, yes the pie was insanely good(worth the trip!) but why not take it home and enjoy it in your comfiest surroundings.

Well i went to this place hoping that they have what i was looking for because they posted it on social media and i craved for it. But to my disappointment the cashier said it wasnt availble and that i could order a whole of it, the pie i wanted and they posted on wasnt availble and can only be bought one whole and cost 40 bucks??. On the other hand the famous salted honey and apple pies were great BUT the lemon chess was really sour! I know a lemony taste but this one its like youre eatig a lemon wedge. The ambiance was ok big wooden tables Not too many customers when i got there Im giving 3 stars cos of disappoinment of goin there too far for the first time and not tasting this particulr pie. Hopefully its not just available as made to order But make it availble everyday

I don’t like pie. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I guess that’s because I’ve been eating bad pie all these years. Because Four & Twenty Blackbirds has made me a believer. My friends took me to 4&Twenty as I visited them in Brooklyn. I dismissively had them order for me, saying I’d share a slice with them. BIGMISTAKE. As I waited for my latte, my friends devoured half our slice of Cranberry Sage. I gingerly picked up my fork and cut off a bite… Oh. It’s good. REALLY good. The tart cranberries held their form, not mushy, and were sweet/tart. The sage lent another layer of flavor — earthy. The crust was insane. It was flaky, NOT crumbly, and insanely delicious. I was such a believer, I bought a T Shirt.(I CANDISHITOUTBUT I CAN’T TAKEIT). 4&Twenty can pay me for advertising. They can pay me in pie.

420BLAZE, GOHERE. Take the NQR or F to Gowanus and have some awesome pie. Have a slice of their salted caramel apple flagship pie or the one with salt and honey(the salty honey!!!), they’re amazing. If the number of reviews at this place doesn’t pursuance you to trek out here, then peak their Instagram. Have a biscuit or something in their pastry cabinet that’s savory, too! The tiniest bathroom is available and totally functional, and there’s a lot of table space if you wanna do work here. Ask the staff for recommendations if you need help!

The Salted Honey Pie is seriously the BOMB! As I was super hyped to try their signature Salted Caramel Apple Pie, I thought the Salted Honey Pie was the true winner. The sweet velvety custard of the Honey Pie was absolutely divine. We also ordered a slice of the Black Bottom Oats, which had a layer of chocolate ganache near the crust and loads of oats. All the pies were really good, but the Honey Pie was definitely the one that made the 1.5-hour commute totally worth it! They seem to change their menu up quite frequently as I didn’t see several of the pies that I’ve read on other people’ reviews offered. If you plan to buy a whole pie, I recommend pre-ordering them early as they usually get sold out on the day of. Here is the list of sliced pies available on the Saturday we went: — Salted Caramel Apple — Burch Beer Float — Chili Chocolate — Salted Honey — Lemon Chess — Black Bottom Oats Each slice is $ 5.75 and an additional $ 0.25 for their homemade whipped cream. They also sell a bunch of other pastries, including sticky buns, muffins and cookies. If you order any of the tea lattes, I recommend you to ask them to make it extra hot as the ones we ordered were disappointingly lukewarm. Great pies, mediocre drinks!

This place is seriously adorable. It reminded me of a typical spot on a sitcom based in Brooklyn or Manhattan. Their pie menu changes seasonally. We came here in November. The names of the pies sound odd and there is no description on their chalkboard. It’s best to just ask the employees. I had the lemon chess pie. It was just the right amount of tartness and sweetness. They served it with creamy, homemade whipped cream. The person I was with had the matcha custard pie. It was good, but in general I feel green tea is made only to be drank. It was a funny texture on the tongue and left an odd aftertaste. It was good for what it was, just not our cup of tea! Also, I had a creamy cappuccino. They presented it with a nice design. It’s a small spot, so I could see them running out of seats. It’s all counter service. They have a bathroom but it’s in the middle of the establishment with a door that doesn’t lock. Awkward!

Four & Twenty Blackbirds purveys pies that titillates all the senses. I swung by last night for dessert post my meal next door at Michael & Ping’s. Sure glad I did. At first I thought I needed to maintain my low-carb diet until the temptress known as my GF said: «let’s just take a quick look we don’t have to order anything.» In my mind’s eye I saw Eve enticingly say: «OMG! Try this apple the snake said it is the bomb!» We stepped inside, took a quick look and we promptly ordered two slices. I had the rock & rye cherry and apple and she had the butter pumpkin. Admittedly, I wasn’t crazy about the whiskey’s overbearing flavor(and I enjoy rye from time to time) but I dealt with it. The rest of the filling was seductively delicious. She loved her pumpkin pie. We both raved about the flaky, butter laden crusts. Each pie crust was different but both worked well with their respective filings. We both consumed what must have been a gazillion calories but sometimes caution must be thrown to the wind. We laughingly congratulated ourselves for having the ‘discipline’ not to top our pies with whipped cream. Nevertheless, after consuming every last crumb off the plate(as well as every crumb that made its way on the table) we ensured our expulsion from the proverbial Garden of svelt-Eden as we wobbled to the car. Still high from the sugar I looked at the GF and I asked: «was worth it?» «Damn right it was!» I agreed. I suppose Adam must have felt the same way…

It was alright? I’m generally not a pie person — I don’t get overly excited for pies. I don’t make them. The only pies I typically have are the pumpkin pies at Thanksgiving. It’s not that I don’t like them; I just don’t think I’ve had a great one. After this visit, I’m still not entirely sold on them. FOOD: I’ll admit they do have a great variety of flavors. Came here around 5 on a Wednesday evening and they still had a good amount of flavors. My boyfriend and I decided to go for the Salty Honey & Lemon Chess pies. I also got a hot chocolate! The pies come with a dollop of fresh whipped cream, which I think is a nice touch. It really helped balance the pies. I liked the salty honey! It wasn’t as salty as I expected, but the filling was still good. Sweet, gooey and savory. There is no denying that the lemon chess pie had the lemon curd flavor. It was almost too tart for me. While the fillings of the pies were good, I found myself struggling with the crust. They weren’t light and flaky as I’ve heard everyone else describe — it was actually pretty hard to cut into and the crust on top refused to break apart with my fork. I was pretty disappointed with the hot chocolate. Yes, it did come with a cool milk foam design. Yes, it did make for pretty pictures. But just because it’s photogenic doesn’t mean it tastes good. I found it to be bitter-tasting. I took a sip or two then passed it to my boyfriend(though he did like the bitter taste to it, go figure). SERVICE: I see no issues with service here — the guy at the counter was friendly and gave us suggestions as to what to order. He was able to serve the pies and my drink pretty quickly. AMBIANCE: It’s cute. You get a hipster vibe from this place, but that’s not always a bad thing. It’s spacious, yet cozy at the same time. Probably because the tables are so large! More room for more pie, right?

My boyfriend and I are huge pie fans so we’ve been wanting to come here for over a year now but we kept putting it off because it was out of the way for both of us. We finally took the trip here and everything you’ve heard about their pies is 100% accurate and true. It’s a spacious and quaint café with a good amount of seating. The décor is simple and cozy and the staff is also friendly. We tried the stonefruit crumble and the black bottom oat and both did not disappoint! I loved how each slice comes with a generous dallop of fresh whipped cream on the side that balances out the sweetness of the pies. The crust is flaky and buttery and not dry at all — my boyfriend normally hates crusts but he loved their pie crust. The stonefruit crumble featured peaches(and possibly nectarines?) that were just the right texture without being too soft or soggy and the crumble topping held all the fruit together for the perfect bite. The black bottom oat is lined with a chocolate ganache on the bottom, followed by the filling of a pecan pie(minus the pecans), and finally topped with oats. Oh so buttery and rich and decadent with the perfect crunchy top. I’m salivating recalling the experience. They’re big, yummy slices, but at $ 6, they’re a bit pricey. I did also wish that the slices could’ve been heated up since other pie places do this but I cannot deny that they weren’t still amazing at room temperature. Since their pie selection rotates daily, I didn’t get to try the other highly raved about flavors but I’d definitely take the trip back here for more. P.
