Luis gave me a nice cut today, was thorough, clean and super professional. They were bumping Method Man and the atmosphere was on point! Will definitely be coming back!!!

I DESPISE getting my haircut. It’s such a nerve racking task for me because I’m crazy picky. Let me tell you that the attention to detail on my haircut was amazing. I mean he sculpted my hair like it was a painting. It really made me appreciate the art of cutting hair. Pretty much if your looking for a killer haircut trust these guys because I did and it did not backfire. I was there when it wasn’t very busy but I’m sure when they are they’re like straight out of a scene from barbershop! Cool vibe, cool dudes and great cuts.

I didn’t get a haircut but I asked to use the restroom which was clean by the way and they let me. Very professional atmosphere and from what I noticed nice cuts. Definitely a great place to get a haircut. Thanks Fades 2 Famous for being considerate.

Takes forever to get a haircut, nobody there cares about anything, and although I have been there therein many times I wont be there ever again. Plus when the barber cuts your hair crooked, not cool.

Professional, hygienic, courteous, and affordable. Best barbers in the neighborhood! If you live in Greenpoint, this is your best bet for an all-purpose barber shop.

I love this shop, I get my hair cut with Matt and he’s AMAZING at what he does(mind you this is coming from another barber) I always go and either get a skin fade or designs and Matt always leaves me looking on point ! I definitely wouldn’t trust anyone else with my hair now that I’ve met Matt ! Highly recommend this place !!

I’ve been going to this shop for the last four years and I don’t plan on changing anytime soon. Whether I get a shape up, haircut or tape up my barber always does an amazing job and the shop is always kept clean and organized.

You really don’t want to go here unless you make an appointment with smokey(he says«you know why they call me smokey right?») Is it because I just waited an hour watching 2 people get their heads shaved almost smooth??? No it’s not. I never had a hair cut hurt before. I got serious razor burn from the cheap disposable razors they use. The barber shop on Manhattan ave.(Queens haircutters) is cheeper, has better cuts, and your head won’t hurt when you leave. See Maria, she is the best!

Looking up the movie Barbershop on IMDB, I stumbled across a rather interesting at the bottom of the page called Recommendations. It says«if you enjoyed this title(Barbershop), our database also recommends the following… Well I expected Barbershop 2, and I should have expected The Last Seduction, but to my chagrin Gone With the Wind was listed among the TOP5, recommended films… and suddenly it all makes sense– … Fade 2 Famous is exactly the place that a modern day Clark Gable would go to find his half-polish, half spanish Scarlett O’Hara… Like Twelve Oaks, he would converse and debate the differences between the North(Greenpoint) and the South(Williamsburg) and how the industrial supremacy in the North will once again soon conquer the sustenance, albeit deep-ridden(and quite artsy), found in the South… They also give great Fades, and always have hip-hop on the flat screens… and dont forget the revolving door of friends, relatives, children, potheads, and carpetbaggers.

My hairline started receding a few years ago. It seems to have settled into an asymmetrical widow’s peak. Point is, the vanity of meticulously maintaining a fashionable do(even those hipster cuts that you pay a lot for to look like you didn’t pay anything) became too difficult to rationalize. So I stated cutting my own hair with a clipper 5/8″ attachment. It served me well, and when I had a triptych mirror I could almost cut the back myself(very strange reorienting your perception that way). That served me well for a while, with my girlfriend backing me up for those hard to see spots. But when it came time to get married, I thought I should splurge on a pro cut. I’d seen this barber on Greenpoint Ave., beside the firehouse just east of McGuinness, many times, but never looked closely. So one day I walked in. It wasn’t what I expected(which was a classic old guy’s barber with faded penthouse magazines). Turns out it’s a Cholo fade barber(with shiny new hot Latina chicks mags). Even though I don’t wear a fade(it would accentuate my misshapen head), I figured they were well equipped to buzz and clean. I had to wait a long time for my cut because I’d walked in just after someone with an array of 5 or 6 kids. I had time, and they were playing all the«el Mariachi» movies, which are awesome. Finally seated, I got a good cut. The attention to detail on the sideburns was appreciated, and my widow’s peak looked a little less lopsided. And it was on the cheaper side, $ 15 I think. One cool thing is the cut menu. It’s a huge board with all the different fades you can get — the differences are subtle, and what you can get depends on your hairline. I expect to see lots of hipsters adopt the fade soon as they age. I checked my hipster field guide and couldn’t find the fade represented. Uncharted territory, and it’s ironic! Anyway, I’m heading back there now. I’ll update my star rating based on the experience.
