Eyes On the Slope

I had a great experience at Eyes on The Slope– the frames are a little pricey but they have a nicer, less generic selection. They accept DC37 coverage, tolerated me while I was hemming and hawing about which pair to get, and had my lenses placed in a snap. I’ll be coming back for a spare set soon.

***THIEVES ON THE SLOPE*** — You guys remind me why i hate buying glasses. They will RIP YOU OFF. I went to this store because of all the good reviews on Unilocal,unfortunately I had a bad experience. All I wanted was to be told the truth about a product and be given a reasonable price. I didn’t get it here. Not only did you lose me as a customer, you lost my coworkers at NY Methodist hospital as well.
I work at NY methodist just down the block. If my coworkers ask me where they should buy glasses, I’ll tell them to specifically avoid this establishment.
My issue was when I bought the glasses. I bought silhouette eyeglasses that had flexible temple arms. They had told me it was a great pair of frames and that it was durable. Later that day I went into a Cohens eye glass store and they told me the opposite. In fact the sales associate there told me that they don’t carry that line because oftentimes the temple hinge breaks and their customers complained. This was further verified when I looked online.
So WITHIN 24 hours of the purchase, I tried to cancel my order and asked for a refund. I called the store when it was still open, literally 5x and no one picked up. Try calling them and you’ll see that no one picks up the phone there!
After failing to get a hold of them on the phone, I went in person and asked for a refund which they refused to give me. I was very angry that they had lied to me about the quality of the glasses and I just wanted to take my business elsewhere.
I then waited for 2 day when the manager would be there. I spoke to the manager, Eddy, and after I explained my situation, I was still refused a refund. The glasses were NOT EVEN CUT and I even offered to reimburse them the face value of the lens to make it even, but he refused and even made me feel like I was a bad person.
How am I the bad guy? I’m asking for my money back because you lied to me about the quality of the frames and I was willing to reimburse you for your troubles.
He eventually made me feel guilty and offered a 5 year warranty but it still irritated me that they lied to me in the first place and refused a refund. I also caught him in another lie he told, saying that Cohens are not allowed to carry «silhouettes» brand glasses… ummm, I literally just went there, they do; They just don’t carry the ones i bought because they are faulty.
What irritates me even more as I thought about the situation was the price they sold me the glasses. For the frames and glasses, they sold it to me for $ 629 dollars… They even took money from my insurance to cover it so in reality they made more than $ 750 dollars off of me… Are you serious? $ 750+ dollars for a pair of glasses that easily breaks? The women who sold me the glasses even pretended that she took $ 100 dollars off as a deal. I felt robbed after paying and realizing this.
This is a message to the owner of the store and I hope you read this.
I want you to know that you lost a customer today. I left feeling lied to, wronged and robbed. I was lied to about the quality of the frames and you guys bullied me out of $ 630. To tell you the truth I only agreed to take the glasses after Eddy made me feel guilty, the warranty didn’t really matter to me. This is not how you do business.

After reading about other places in the neighborhood, I am glad I picked this spot. Lovely people, knowledgable, and made recommendations of where to go for special concerns. Really appreciated them and will be back for my next exam.

EXCELLENT service!!! Excellent selection. I thought my old frames were tarnished beyond repair but Eddie polished them like new for free. Had on a great outfit too.

Dan at Eyes on the Slope is amazing! He is patient and can help you select exactly the right frame. I loved my new glasses and totally freaked when a few days into my honeymoon at chateauneuf du pape a bus ran over them. I called Dan and he made a new pair to ship to me immediately. Customer service like this is unbelievable.

I had a great experience with the staff here; Dan went above and beyond to get me my prescription sunglasses before a honeymoon vacation. They arrived late and he sent them to Chicago overnight so that I received them before leaving the country. He refused to accept reimbursement for the shipping even. They are old school in that they treat you with respect and provide a personalized service. They truly want to make you happy and satisfy your needs. Was a pleasure and allowed me to see perfectly in Nicaragua! Thanks!

Service. I just stopped by after a run to ask them to adjust my sunglasses that my 1 year old mangled. The store was closing, literally the team was locking the door. The manager asked me if he could help me. I said I could come back. He said no, opened the door back up and fixed my sunglasses. I hadn’t bought them there and I didn’t pay for the repair. I’m loyal now and I will get my next glasses there for sure.

This business is an absolute sham. First off, they have tremendous attitude and are extremely patronizing. I mean seriously, you sell eyeglasses for a living, give us a break! Please save yourself some pain by not shopping here. They completely ruined my eyeglass repair then just simply said there was nothing they could do about it (this is after they admitted they had ruined my eyewear). Now I’m out $ 400 and have to buy a new pair. I beg you not to shop here. I’m all for supporting small business but also demand a sense of fairness and honesty too. We New Yorkers deserve better than this!!!

I switched insurances and the wonderful Urban Optical up the street did not take it, so I gave Eyes on the Slope a try. The doctor who did my eye exam was very nice, personable, and did a good job. The person at the front desk, who I think runs the glasses and contacts sales, was not nice. She would not take my insurance for my contacts, would not explain to me why not in an understandable way, except that it «wasn’t worth it to her» because my insurance would not pay her enough. It was strange and frustrating that she talked about how she would not make enough money from me to assist me. I called my insurance and then called her back later that day — but things did not go better. She interrupted me and spoke again of how it wasn’t worth it to her. I really just wanted an explanation. Very frustrating. I got my contacts elsewhere. Check to ensure you know all the costs and insurance policies on the phone when you make the appt.

Best eye exam experience, it was quick friendly and thorough. Eddie was the best part, helped me purchase the best frame, prepared my lenses super fast. I am hotter by a factor of 10… I need new clothes to match my new frames

Have come here a few times in recent years due to my DC37 optical benefits. Opticians have been personable and knowledgable. Owner and other staff have been incredibly helpful and patient. Recently, they all weighed in on a series of frames I had been hemming and hawing about, never rushed me to make a choice, accepted my cancellation of the order the next business day, then tolerated my indecision and started the process again when I returned a month or so later. And when I finally decided on the first pair the owner had recommended anyway, he made the lenses there on the spot, and I walked out with them, happily!

After having not filled my last prescription, I finally got around to buying new glasses with a current prescription this past weekend. I made a tour of most of the eye glass shops in Park Slope (and there are many) and ended up buying from Eyes On the Slope, as I have the last two times I needed glasses. They are friendly, but not overly pushy. The glasses are not the cheapest, but they are also not the most expensive and have some style. Since I was buying a new pair of glasses, they also threw in replacing the lenses in my old frame with prescription reading glasses for free! That saved me a few hundred since I needed to get those as well. It was the latest in three or four successful purchases from them over the years.

My son is typically scared of Doctors, but he absolutely loved Dr. Jenny. Though she gave a thorough exam, we were done in under 15 minutes, and my son asked when we could go back! Would recommend to anyone with children.

I had been to every optical store in the slope, some multiple times, as well as many in manhattan, looking for the perfect pair of frames. I walked into Eyes on the Slope and was immediately impressed with their selection and their reasonable prices (unlike some of the incredibly pricey shops I’d been to previously). Marie ended up helping me choose a pair of frames. She had such a great eye for what worked for me that I let her pick out a pair of sunglass frames as well, figuring I wouldn’t have to go through this process again for a looong while.
I already had a perscription, so I can’t speak to that part of their services. But I am thrilled with the frames and the lenses they had made seem good as well. Do check them out!

I have been a patient at eyes on the slope for several years. I am consistently impressed by their stellar customer service, efficient management and unparalleled patient care. If you are looking for an optometrist, go here, they rock! A ;-)

This place was the best as far as customer service, accommodation and workmanship is concerned!
I brought in a script from my ophthalmologist and chose a pair of frames. They made up the glasses and the lenses turned out to be a bit too heavy (a concern for me due to migraine headaches) but since the frames were a little larger, I had sunglasses made from them and because there are no refunds given, they did all the work at no extra charge-they’re the best! And they couldn’t have been nicer!
Again, I still needed daily glasses for my new prescription. I found a pair of frames I liked in a different store, but trusted Eyes to do the lenses for me (I’d had a bad experience with a non-​glare coating not lasting well after a year from one of the usual chain stores). The glasses looked beautiful, but I forgot to remind them (again) to make very light lenses (which they do at no extra cost), so they redid them at no extra cost and now they’re perfect!
The best work and the nicest people!!!

Love my new glasses!
I have a fairly big head and finding glasses to fit my face is usually a pain. This time, it was painless. I was also fitted for contacts. I sorely needed the instructional appointment to learn how to properly put on my new contacts. All total, frames, lenses, contact fitting, eye exam, contact fitting… $ 500.00. I used my Flexible Spending Account. It was worth it.

If I could separate the optometrist and the eyeware store I would.
Five stars all the way for the optometrist. He’s an awesome, friendly and professional individual. He’s an extremely skilled optometrist and I trust him very much so with my eyes.
The eyeware store on the other hand isn’t that great. They don’t take many insurances so you have to pay out of pocket and then file a claim with your insurance. It was well over 100 bucks for the visit and contact fitting. Who knows if my insurance company will actually pay me back for my eye appointment. The store is pretty small and did not have much selection. The sales staff that works here don’t really seem very interested in helping you out but I was desperate for an eye appointment so I went here.
Honestly, I think the average person that walks into this place automatically feels like they aren’t really welcome and they feel like the place is going to be pretty expensive. I promise you though, the optometrist is TOP KNOTCH. He’s honestly great. I’ll definitely go back for routine checks ups and such. I just won’t be purchasing my glasses or contacts there though.

After a horrible experience with a mall so-​you-​want-​to-​save-​some-​money place, Eyes on the Slope was like a dream come true. Extremely helpful and sensitive to my son’s needs, being a very young kid getting glasses. They were so informative and caring, my wife went back and bought her new glasses there as well. It’s not cheap, but I really feel we were well taken care of, and that they appreciate our patronage and value us as return customers.
