This is my new favorite place in Williamsburg. The first time I walked by this gallery, I was very intrigued by what looked like glass sculptures enclosed in glass cases. I would later learn from their website that this is a glass pipe gallery, how awesome! Unfortunately the place was closed, so I promised myself that I would return. On the very last day of the GETBENT exhibit(Feb 26th — Mar 23rd), I had some time to stop by here with a friend. This place is truly incredible! They showcased many amazing glass pipes created by several artists. Some were very clean, simple and sophisticated. Others were either fantasy-themed, pure art(the kinds that you don’t ever want to use because it’s you’d rather place it on a table and stare at it all day), or just plain silly and humorous. My favorite pieces were the pipes shapes and colored like dill pickles. It seems like a great thing to buy for you and your friends… like friendship pipes! Besides the pipes, there are three things I absolutely loved about this gallery: 1. Photography allowed! It might’ve just been for this exhibit, but either way, I am happy to be able to show pictures of these masterpieces to my friends! 2. Their logo… so simple, yet perfect! The«E» in «Easy Street» is shaped like a pipe, and it can be seen on the glass entrance and also on the door handles. I think it’s such a creative, subtle detail that makes this place amazing. 3. The pipes are surprisingly VERY affordable. 5 dill pickle pipes and the jar for $ 250? Come on! They have a new exhibit opening TODAY. I plan on coming here frequently, and you should too! *Note: Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays!

Well every shop has a story right? So by that logic, a place that breaks the mold of what’s expected of a city would have a million and one stories of its own, right? This gem of a gallery was passed by walking casually in between rainclouds on a Saturday night to a local haunt near my friend up in Brooklyn’s flat in Williamsburg we strolled pass the gated doors, both doing a double take as we realized the complexity, the craftsmanship and sheer quality on display in the store. An outstanding mark of this shop are its well lit displays to show off the minor details of every gallery piece on the floor. They also sell a range of t shirts and hoodies, for both men & women, that are distributed only to the gallery as well. The staff, especially the curator Nate, are extremely knowledgeable and very welcoming. Any questions are quick to answer and they have a deep passion for the art that can come from working with glass. They are normally open seven days a week. Some Mondays they are closed if business carries them back to their home base in Philadelphia. A lot of collaboration between artists takes place between the two cities, as well as artists who are profiled monthly in various exhibits. It is a casual five block walk from the Bradford stop on the L train. Hard to miss once you are in the know and well worth the time to pop into the gallery and give the place a look around.
