not far… very comfortable. needs more choice of donut later in the day. but overall OK. warm and inviting environment.

Pretty damn amazing! We were in the area on a Sunday afternoon and went into this place only because of the great Unilocal reviews. Sadly by the time we got there the majority of their doughnuts had been sold out for the day… however they did have 3 left and we got them all. Best decision I made all day ha! Ordered a regular coffee — coffee is coffee for me but it was good! The doughnuts that were left were — Salted Caramal Pecan! Not a doughnut flavor I would probably ever order but they were AWESOME!!! Super soft, moist and overall delicious. After eating them within seconds I really wish I could have gone back and had more but they were sold out. I will be sure to come here again when in the area as I feel like I am missing out on a lot of options. Moral of the story — go early before they sell out of their awesome doughnuts!!!

These are some of the healthiest doughnuts you can purchase since they are strictly vegan, so big points for that. Refined sugar is one of the worst things you can do for your body, so I see the value in what Dun-Well serves. Also, big points for having a great variety to choose from. With a trend of all things artisanal, clean and locally sourced, Dun-Well is a great addition to the Brooklyn neighborhood. That being said, I did think that every doughnut tasted the same except for the glaze that was on top. Whereas when I get doughnuts from my #1 place, Donut Plant, every doughnut is unique regardless of the added glaze. So, I have to say that Doughnut Plant is still #1 for me in flavor. But, Doughnut Plant is not strictly vegan. So, you have to factor that in if you are.

My only regret is that I don’t live closer :(. Every single donut I’ve had is beyond amazing. Maybe just don’t get those weird ice cream sandwiches… I threw mine out after a few bites. The shop has a very relaxed vibe and is a great place to sit down and read a book. Just make sure to have your cash on you!(Cash only)

Love this place! Came here nearly everyday during our 2 week NYC trip. They have a myriad of flavours that change daily and seasonally as well as a selection of drinks, all vegan. Almond joy latte made by Sarah was so yummy. Also coffee stamp cards, which fill up fast if you go every day. We even took a dozen back on the plane so that we could share with our California friends. Best doughnuts.

I cannot believe that these are vegan doughnuts. The texture is amazing and there are so many interesting flavors to choose from. I tried the lavender since there was a review on here saying how good it was. It is honestly very different but still tasty. I also tried the butter pecan which also had a great flavor. I would recommend this spot to anyone that loves doughnuts.

Whenever I tell my friends that these donuts are vegan(after they take a bite and rave about how delicious they are, of course) — they don’t believe me. I make the trek out to this place whenever I’m in the mood for something delicious and sweet — my favorite is the peanut butter and jelly donut. So good!

Loved that the doughnuts come in mini size so you’re able to try more at once. I’m a fan of the peanut butter and chocolate peanut donuts. These doughnuts are only good fresh though because I left some out and by the end of day, there were super hard, unlike other doughnuts elsewhere.

THEBEST coffee in NY. I am ridiculously picky about my coffee… and holy shit, this coffee is amazing. Champs was stupid busy, so I opted for doughnuts while planning breakfast plan B. Five doughnuts later and breakfast didn’t matter. They use real vanilla and you can see the specks in the flaky, delightful dough. The lavender is killer, the peanut butter and chocolate should be illegal, and I would sell my soul for a magic button that would make the strawberry appear at any moment. Drink all of the coffee. Eat all of the doughnuts.

Oh My God. I dont even know how I stumbled on this place, but I hit a gold mine. A sweet sweet vegan goldmine. I love this concept. Somehow consuming vegan donuts makes me feel better about consuming donuts. Lol… super bad news for my gut, but excellent news for my MOUTH! I went to Dun-Well twice. The first time I went was during the week, and I was the only person in there. They have a maybe 5 or 6 varieties left for the day, and I took home 3 and ate a glaze in house. I cant even explain how amazing these donuts are. They are hearty, but light with just a little bit of chewiness to it that makes for a serious food-gasm.(can I say that on Unilocal.?) The space is very welcoming and warm – very friendly. It makes you want to stick around, grab a latte(which I did which was also so good!) Not sure where they get their espresso, but it was delicious) and observe the delightful look of pleasure on the other guests face after taking their first bite. My second time was on a Saturday, and it was slammed. I was taking a half dozen to go. The pistachio chocolate, maple, cinnamon sugar, lemon, glazed, just – I dont even know, this place has totally heightened my expectations for the sweet treat. Thankfully my expectations wont be a problem because I eat donuts maybe a few times a year, and this place is currently 600+ miles from me, so all is well. In the area, shoot, INNEWYORK, INTHENORTHEAST – go to Dun Well. Your friends will understand why you made the long drive.

This place probably doesn’t need another 5 star review, but I can’t help myself! Amazing vegan donuts, amazing vegan ice cream. Cute vibe inside. Perfect 10. It can be hard to find a seat, but that is to be expected. There’s a pizza place across the street too if you need to use the bathroom. Went here twice in the span of 2 days out of a 3 day brooklyn visit. The flavors are varied and it was hard to only pick a few. It is a little expensive– but what can you expect? It comes with the territory of vegan donuts in Brooklyn. Nothing too crazy, though. I will say that the donuts are more cakey rather than fluffy(like a traditional krispy kreme donut). More filling, but sometimes it can seem too heavy. I didn’t personally drink the coffee, but I heard that was good too from a friend I went with!

Let me start off by saying I am not Vegan, but I can appreciate any meal that tastes just as good if not better than my non vegan counterpart. The donut was moist, fluffy and truly yummy. No way anyone could tell it was vegan. I would have loved to had tried more than one, but honestly speaking these are nice size donuts. They don’t skimp on size. Nice presentation when they hand you the donuts if you’re eating inside. It’s a cute shop too and it can get crowded leaving one to stand up and eat their donut, something to consider if you are looking to linger a bit.

It’s hard to have sweets that satisfy my sweet tooth when fall under the vegan category. Dun-Well Doughnuts is worth the trek to the Montrose L stop for the best vegan doughnuts in town. I recently returned to the neighborhood to check out some of my fave spots and had to stop by for my donut fix. And I was ecstatic to see that there was a large array of donuts to pick from. And then I heard the skies from above and a light shined onto the best donut of them all — — P-I-S-T-A-C-H-I-O! Yessss! This donut had my name all over it. And it was a mouthwatering first bite. The pistachio flavor is all in the frosting glaze. I couldn’t believe how much pistachio flavor came through with just the icing and it sat on top of the fluffy donut. There was also a light amount of chocolate sprinkles. Unfortunately the icing kept trying to escape after every bite. It crumbed down to the counter or my little log slice plate. I wish I would’ve had a bowl that would catch all the yumminess. Still I will be returning to get my fix for pistachio goodness. I have to also mention Dun-Well has a great comfy feel. I love the red patterned wall paper accenting the donut shelves. And I adore the vintage lamps. And the jar of Dun-Well Doughnut pins is the new flare for my jean jacket. And I also want to mention the guy working was super sweet and let me pay after I was done eating. I wanted to get my brother a donut but I had to wait for him to call me and there was a minimum on cards. I thought it was very nice of him to let me pay after I got the birthday boy a donut. My brother inhaled and loved the Pistachio donut.

Prior to Dun-Well, the best donuts I ever had were at Mojo Donuts and at an apple picking farm in Boston. I walked into Dun-Well not knowing they were vegan and now I regret writing that. I tried the apricot, pb&j and blackberry. All were as delicious as they were beautiful, and none even suggested veganism.

Tasty and Creative Gourmet Donuts I’ve been here a few times and have tried an assortment of their donuts. I always leave happy and appreciative of how creative they get with the flavors. I love the wood stomps they serve their donuts on.

I’ve been vegan for over a year and a half, and I don’t like doughnuts. For the most part, they are way too sweet for me, and I always get the worst stomachache from all the sugar and glaze and frosting. But, since going vegan, I’ve been giving certain foods a new try. Dun-well has been on my list for a while, so I decided to stop by. I had the vanilla pistachio mini and an apple cider peach. I loved the flaky airyness of the doughnuts. But, yeah, SOOO sweet. But then I got a doughnut, so what could I expect? The vanilla pistachio was alright. I was expecting more of a pistachio flavor than the sprinkled nuts on the top, but it disappointed me. The apple cider beach was much better because there were peaches in the middle! Staff was really nice and patient. There were a good amount of people in the place but no wait for the line. They also have coffee and ice cream(some black coffee would’ve paired wonderfully with the doughnuts). I would love to see a cake doughnut, or a doughnut that doesn’t have glaze or frosting on it from here.

BEST. DONUTS. EVER. Be a settler, no more! Not only does DunWell offer up a delicious vegan donut, they offer the best donuts I’ve ever encountered. This cute little shop brings all the hipster feels but all that melts away when you bite into one of their fresh donuts. Today’s selection offered your usuals: glazed and cinnamon. They also had peanut butter and jelly, peanut and almond topped and a selection of filled donuts. I know I missed some. They were all so mesmerizing and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one! I had the blueberry coconut donut and it did not disappoint! At a little under $ 3, this donut was a nice size and freshly made and well worth the price. My boyfriend opted for the peanut butter and jelly topped with chocolate. I had a nice big bite and it was just as good.(Sometimes when you share with your lover you end up having the better or the worst of the two options.) These two donuts went head to head. Hey, there’s no loser here! The guy behind the counter was absolutely nice. The place was clean. The donuts were delicious and vegan. They also sell postcards with donuts on them and a few other items. No complaints here! Back to Texas I go where the vegan options are sparse. Feel free to send me a post card or better yet, a DunWell donut!

Ordered: Too many to keep track of Pros – They are very fresh and offer a wide variety of flavors. Cons – The dough didn’t have the sweetness that makes a donut a true donut. Many of the flavors(ex: maple and blueberry) were overpowering to the point that I didn’t enjoy them.

I’m not crazy, I’m just a little Dun Well, I know, right now you can’t tell. But stay awhile and maybe then you’ll see that Rob Thomas actually named his band«Matchbox 20» after a box of 20 donuts that he once bought here, which he thoroughly devoured at 3am(when he must be lonely), one of the donuts was a little Bent but he managed to get it Back To Good. Then he wrote a song about«wondering what it’s like to be a Donut Maker.» Then he realized he’d make more money if he owned the shop, and wrote«I wonder what it’s like to be the Head Honcho of Dun Well.» And so on. What to get: any of their amazing vegan donuts. What else: Nadia loves it, and if Nadia loves it, you know it must be good. Same goes for boys. There’s not much to say about DWD that hasn’t been said already. But there’s a lot to say about DWI. As in: don’t do it! It’s not worth it! You might kill someone, or yourself, and even if you don’t, sooner or later you’re going to end up giving a ton of money to the damn system so they can pocket it all. Don’t give them the f***ing pleasure of taking your money just because you like to drink. Take the subway instead. And with all the money you save, do a «Rob Thomas» and come here and buy donuts! These are pretty healthy donuts(since they’re vegan), and yet they taste every damn bit as good as the local legends of donuts(Dough and Doughnut Plant, my fave 2), which are not Vegan. Speaking of «it’s been said already» I’d like to quote my good friend Michael W. «*GREAT* organic doughnut shop that happens to be vegan on the DL(sorta, many people who love it don’t even know that they’re loving the Earth, animals and themselves simultaneously*).» That really sums it up. It’s truly great, and a lot of people don’t know it’s Vegan because it tastes as good as any non-vegan donut place, literally. Better than 99% of them, and as good as Dough and Doughnut Plant. But it’s kind of a shame that a place has to be «DL Vegan», otherwise it will be shunned by many who have been brainwashed to think Vegan is somehow bad. As a species, we certainly do «Shun Well» unfortunately. This place also has the nicest interior of any of the legendary Donut Shops in NYC. It’s so calming and rustic and wooden inside, with lovely seating and a nice smell, it’s like the perfect little coffee shop that you always wanted to hang out and use the internet in… only it’s also selling the most amazing orgasmic vegan donuts you’ve ever eaten. Forget the word«vegan», these are just some of the best donuts you’ll have anywhere, period. Even if you’re on your, period. The best one I’ve ever had here was the«Cinnamon Sugar», but bear in mind that like Dough, it’s a rapidly rotating menu, and on any given day they have different donuts than they had the day before. So you’ll always be in for a treat. Try new things, enjoy yourself. Indulge. Donuts are done better in NYC than *anywhere else in the world* and this is one of NYC’s 5 best donut shops, so you really can’t get much better than this. If you’re a hottie, then you probably«Stun Well» and if you give it up to every boy you see, then your thingy could be called your«Fun Well», if you’re a Unilocaler in Queens then you«Chun Well» and if you’re a female virgin in this day and age, you probably«Nun Well.» As for me, well some people think I suck at it, but others believe I «Pun Well», and if you ever spend a night with me, one thing I can promise you is that you will«C** Well.» Again, and again, and again.
