IFYOU’REGAYORHAVEGAYFRIENDSDON’T EVENTHINKOFGOINGHERE. Unfortunately, it seems like this bar has taken a turn for the worse. I’ve been going here occasionally for several years, and as everyone else has noticed, the locals tend to give you the cold shoulder if you’re under 40 and not/or not a born and raised local. That being said, they’ve always been pretty reasonable once you settle in. That was until my birthday this year, April 5th. I showed up with 3 friends, all of us gay, and not only were we refused service at the bar, but my friends and I were verbally accosted by several of the bar patrons. The word«Faggot» was thrown around multiple times. This is definitely not a safe space for the LGBT community, and I will not be going back. If you want a local dive bard that has cheap drinks and gay friendly atmosphere, check out the Palace around the corner on Nassau.

Cheap drinks, great pregaming spot. A few of the regulars can be off putting(hey guy with one tooth — no, you DONOT know me!) However, it can be cozy at times. Hipsters beware. A lot of the regulars are very rude. Just buy them a drink and you should be a-okay in their eyes.

This bar flat out rules. No you wont pick up chicks and no there aren’t bartenders wearing slutty outfits. You come here to get drunk, smoke cigarettes, do a little light gambling, and sit at the bar. Really cheap beers, nice smoking patio, blue collar vibes with friendly bartenders. Quick Draw is available and really fun to play. A jukebox with mostly classic rock playing. Two flatscreen tv’s that are showing NY Sports. Need I go on…

It is a regular bar for regular people and no particular schtick or arty flair at all. Grill out back for anyone to use. Cheap CHEAP drinks and staff who are neighborhood natives. Hipsters get the cold shoulder by the regulars which provides an oasis for those who are burned out on entourages of loud vapid brunchers and other useless people. One of the ways that Unilocal is helpful to me is when I see horrible reviews of a place posted by people that I suspect I would rather dislike. I think to myself, «Self well if THAT person hates this joint, I most likely would like it and should give it a try.»

When you walk into a bar for the first time, your initial reaction shouldn’t be «what the fuck?»

Countless times I have pased by this bar with a leisurely gait… I told myseld that I would never succomb to the siren’s call(/pre-mesotheliomic cough) that belongs to the bartender., Many have walked by to hear the sounds inside, and wondered what could it be… It is the jeering when someone looses quickdraw It is the questions that the bartender asks the fat guy…(well the games over, you wanna watch the news) which warrent an approving nod The polish bars dwarf this place as the white people bars shadow the polish ones…
