Carroll Gardens Piano Lessons

Amazing teacher! Adrian was nice, intelligent and made me feel very comfortable in his studio. We talked about my experience with the piano and what I would like to accomplish. The lesson was fantastic and I look forward to many more!

I took piano lessons with Adrian last year and was saddened when they had to end due to my scheduling. I have had six teachers throughout my life and Adrian was, hands down, the best. His chord tutorials were a revelation. He was able to really teach me in a way that I had never been taught before. In the past, I had never been a great student because most of the core concepts eluded me. Adrian wanted to understand how I understood processing music so that he could help me. After 35 years of lessons (on and off), it was his teaching that was most effective, if only on a small level, because I learned more with him than I had ever before. Adrian also had two sessions with my then five-​year old son and he was great, inspiring, friendly, firm but effective. Not only am I going back to Adrian as soon as I am able, my son will be taking lessons with him. And my child will probably be a better student than I ever was because he’ll have Adrian as a teacher.

I couldn’t have had a better experience with Adrian. He is wholly focused on making the lessons what you want them to be, not what he thinks they should be for you. He does a really good job of analyzing what skills you have and what skills you’ll need to improve quickly. I would 100% recommend taking lessons with Adrian!

I have to tell you that our little lesson was like a true epiphany for me. The next day I was listening to some John Mayer on my ipod. I have the sheet music with the chords so I tried to play a couple of chords along with the song. All of a sudden it was like a rush of understanding came over me and I was instantly about a 100 times better at playing the piano! No joke. It was like I have been feeling my way through what I thought was a huge mansion in the pitch black for the pass 30 years. I simply never understood chords and keys and how it was all connected. After just our short lesson, it was like the light switch had been turned on. Not only could I see everything clearly for the first time, but the 30 years of practicing in the dark means I know my music much better than I thought. I was just missing the crucial part to connect it all. Now that I have just a little bit of that it’s like I’ve been unleashed. I can play things beautifully now, in tempo and can even play pieces that I used to simply think were beyond me. I had a few songs I was plodding my way through, struggling to learn my old blind way. I picked them up and could instantly play them all beautifully and in tempo.
I’m telling you, it was amazing! Thanks for giving me this gift.

Clearly knows his stuff but considering my class was for an hour, he did a lot of talking. And then played the piano himself for a while so I played but not as much as I would have liked.
