I was brought to Carro Café for a fathers Day dinner and music. I was told the food is great and I’ll admit the skirt steak was delicious and so was their mofongo side dishes(appetizer’s). My compliment’s to the chef. Everyone at the table felt the same. The restaurant has multiple screen’s and a club like atmosphere. There is no dance floor, but a small stage with the karaōke set up. We really liked Carro Café and plan on returning. I’ll recommend it for its Latin flare, just not your everyday Dominican style fare(The chef has skills) Here’s why I didn’t give them the 5 stars they do deserve. The waiter’s need to honed their skill’s in customer service and become bilingual. Their policy of credit card approval needs tending also. With today’s fear of identity theft, they will ask you for your ID when paying with credit cards and then they return 5 to 10 mins later with the signature confirmation receipt, returning your documents.(It isn’t good policy). Your ID is gone to long, making me nervous. They also charge a gratuity on checks of $ 50.00 or more which is ridiculous. They add it in and charge you before you even decide what it would be, in fact chances are you’ll add a tip on top of the one they charged you. I hasn’t realize they kept hitting us for gratuities even after we paid the tab.(ex: another bottle wine). Remember folks, the gratuity is not etched in stone, good to great or blah service is the gauge for tipping not automatic. You are not legally bound to tipping regardless of policy. But Carro Café hits you for it before you sign, just make sure you check before you confirm. It’s still worth a visit.

The food is ok. I’m Dominican & I love Dominican food but I feel like carros café is trying too much to be fancy with small portions && decorating the plates with greens and over priced meals when all I want is a good meal. Don’t even do their hookah, it’s way too pricy & it sucks plus you’re trying to eat && the people next to you are blowing hookah smoke all over. Over all the food is just ok would much rather go to gran mal de plata down a few blocks for good food but carros is more for a nice date or something.

This place is way worse then people make it seem. I went here with two friends and got the nastiest drinks in my life and an amazing attitude to go with it. The food was something I could of made at home and the place is small so it gets full quickly. The artists they have are random entertainments. They are also overpriced for the low quality they serve.

This is my favorite restaurant but I just feel like it’s overpriced. Tonight the food was just HORRIBLE. I asked the waitress for two Fettucine Alfredo’s. She only brought one. Never coming here again. Don’t waste your time or money.

The food was really good. Our food took a little long to come out but they made it all better with giving a round of drinks on the house for the inconvenience. The drinks are great, the food is great. Staff does doesn’t speak English well which most reviewers did write but hey, we were able to communicate. Late at night it becomes a bit club like so if you’re looking for that type of scene this is the spot for you. My only issue is they play only spanish music. Good thing i was there with fun people who know how to have a convo.

Have only ordered delivery and the service has been horrible. We live 2 blocks away and food always comes late and cold. Complained to the manager and he didn’t have a response for us besides someone will call you back next thing I know the delivery guy came to pick up our food. No talk of a new order or refunding our money Smh. Last time I order from them.

The place is not all that bad, I used to go once in a while, but the last time I was there I had a terrible experience. I went with a cousin who was visiting from DR and some otherS friends, we order some appetizer and a few Moët as always. Then I ask for the check and it was about $ 700 dollars, I took out my debit card and at that point the waitress told me that their credit card machine was broken, I told her that I was not walking with that kind of cash, then she told me in hemlock and Fulton there is a chase bank about 15 min walk, They kept insisting we go to the ATM and I agree, the problem was that they didn’t want my friends to go with me specially the one visiting me from DR I got pissed since they never told us, before sitting us down we find out when I ask for the check. I ask to speak with the owner who knows who I am and he acted like it wasn’t his business, the waitress the acted like we were the ones who didn’t want to pay the bill and I told them they were wrong that they should have let us know upfront. We left and two weeks later mail them a check because I know they need the money more than I do. Very poor customer service not business oriented

My cousin used to work here almost a decade ago. She was a server and loved working there. The food is superb and the drinks are perfectly made to pair with the perfection of the food. Who ever the chef is, god bless. Now I’m probably exaggerating but they make the food just how I like it. Next time I will take photos and update this review.

No complaint whatsoever! Staff was professional and extremely accommodating to my one year old son… Pleasant experience from beginning to end. We had the Bujia drink, which was a strawberry margarita with a coronita inside — really good! My sister had the Moët mango margarita, tasted even better! They brought out plantain chips with a tomato base sauce as an appetizer, pretty good. You could tell it was made fresh. My mother and sister shared the Paella, which I must say was one of the best I’ve ever tasted… I had the Skirt Steak with tostones– tasted amazing! No need for any sauce, the steak is juicy and well cooked! For desert we ordered the tres leche cake… A bit small but soo soo yummy! Moist cake and real tasty. I’m upset I’ve been living two blocks from this place and I never bothered to go in! So good! This is now my go-to place. It has a bar and a restaurant area. Real cute!

Ok my niece told me about this place and I like Spanish food. We got there wasn’t sure about this place. When we sat down we still was unsure. But we stood we ordered drinks and appetizer and it was good. Then the waitress asked us how we were paying because their card machine was broken. At this point I was kinda stunned. Then I asked how else are we to pay because who really walks with cash. She then proceeded to tell me there was an ATM six blocks down. I told her I’m not walking six blocks that they should have a sign on the door or the waitress should have disclosed this before sitting us down. I still couldn’t believe they kept insisting we go to the ATM stating it’s not far. Even speaking to the manager finding out the machine was broken for two days but yet not one employee mentioned this until we had eaten and drank. My boyfriend at this point got pissed and said look let’s get outta here. As we leaving one of the waitress said we’ll take the $ 20 you have. I told my boyfriend to give it and now reflecting we shouldn’t have given anything because they were wrong and couldn’t see that. I’m sorry I strive on customer service and this place the waitresses have no customer service and little English how do you run establishment when little English is spoken regardless of the area. All kinds of different people come into restaurants. And as for the managers he didn’t even care what was going on spoke to us and left us and the waitresses felt with us. The professionalism was horrible the staff was atrocious, I don’t think I can visit this establishment again die to there poor customer service . Anita Mangal

Went here with my family last night after hearing glowing reviews from my aunt and cousin. It certainly did not disappoint and definitely exceeded my expectations. I wasn’t an expecting a fairly upscale-ish Dominican restaurant opening ever in this neighborhood but I’m glad it’s here! The interior is quite nice: glowing lights, an updated bar area, and some nice paper light orbs that I’m pretty fond of. You don’t come across these kind of nice looking restaurants in this part of town so it’s pretty refreshing. There are several flat screen TVs playing the baseball game and some Julio Iglesias was playing at a decent volume. My only complaint is that the table was on the small size for the 4 of us but we ended up fitting comfortably. We were familiar with the executive chef’s food since he was an executive chef at a now closed restaurant not too far away and he happens to be a family friend. With that said, the menu was fairly extensive as well as the drink list. We got a round of piña coladas and they were close to perfect. Our waitress was very knowledgable and friendly, always a plus in my book. My dad and I ordered the camarofongo, my mom got the stuffed lobster tail and my sister got the churrasco. It took a while for the food to come out despite the fact we were the only ones there, with an exception of another family who had finished their meal, so I am not sure how quick service is when the restaurant is fuller. But boy, the wait was worth it. My camarofongo was probably the best I’ve had(you can either get a white sauce or a garlic sauce. I went with garlic). The portions are generous so it’s definitely worth the price tag. It comes with 8 nicely sized shrimps. Mom’s lobster tail was divine and my sisters steak was equally as good. Everything was seasoned incredibly and we were disappointed when we were too full to wipe our plates clean. Apparently they have live music later on Saturday nights and it becomes a lounge so I might have to check that scene out. At any event, my mom and I plan on going again very soon and ordering one of their specialty drinks.
