I have been a fan of Butter and Scotch since I’ve spotted and tasted their goods at Smorgasburg, Baked(in TriBeCa holiday event) and others pop ups. I’m a huge baker and love to meet and support other bakers. The other day while in Crowne Heights I noticed their shop! I had just had brunch but had to check it out. It was love at first sight. First of all I have always loved the name since it’s a break down of butterscotch but broken out it’s the prefect boozy and baking name. When I walked into the shop my eyes were all over the place. There’s a beautiful ice cream cone light in the back. A giant neon sign of a pie with«Eat Pie» glowing from the inside. And the bartender, Guy could see my excitement. He suggested the Disco nap«a caffeine infused Altos Reposado tequila with a splash of amaro. It came in an adorable cowboy boot shaped glass. The he showed me the cross stitch«Bitches Love Sprinkles» art piece. I noticed a pair of platforms on the shelf. Guy brought them down and they not only had sprinkles but cupcakes on the back. Then we had Jell-O shots. I had my reservations and then they came out. It was genius. These Jell-O shots were made inside a lemon peel. It’s easier to devour and these shots packed a punch. I wasn’t leaving without their«When’s Happy Hour» #drunkbakers tote in my hand. And I even got to meet one of the owners, the talented Allison Kave.(author of First Prize Pies) This is the perfect date night, ladies night or brunch spot. I have already organized some ladies brunch in a couple weeks. I will also be planning a UYE(unofficial Unilocal event) for sure. Can’t wait to gorge myself on biscuits, cocktails and friend time!

This smores pie is something else. I wasn’t even hungry but was forced by my wife to take a spoon full and it was over. Reminded me of childhood and simpler times. A must try if you’re in the neighborhood and want something mouth watering.

This place is dangerous. If it’s your first time here, get the ‘smores pie. It’s the devil. Their delicious take on the Manhattan and a coffee cocktail will complement it nicely. They need a bigger space. It’s really tight quarters

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed… I love this place so much. The bloodys and the biscuits are crazy delicious if you come for brunch. But the pies and cakes… Oh man. Plus the trifle? Just come with a group so you can eat it all. I haven’t started on the drinks, which are equally amazing. So yeah, why haven’t you started heading to Butter and Scotch yet?

Who doesn’t want dessert & drinks all-in-one? Best birthday cake in town. Great playlists, though volume is usually too loud for my liking. Small, intimate space — so big groups beware you might have to wait or do some shuffling of other customers. That said, I’ve sat up to 8.

Such a cute little spot, on a random neighborhood Brooklyn block. very easy to miss. Total Brooklyn décor! Intimate, cozy, clean. Drink menu is condensed, but extremely unique. They use gin in a lot of the signature dishes. I like gin, but don’t drink it often. I really enjoyed my cocktail. The dessert menu is very engaging. Really cute combinations. I had a brownie sundae with toffee crumbs on top. Three scoops of ice cream; chocolate, vanilla and coconut. Yummmmm! Can’t wait to go back!

I feel in love with the name of the place. I knew I had to come here. The place is easy to get to by train and the place is small and cute. A great bartender Guy, and I loved the 90’s music(TLC).

Cute little late night place. Was looking for after hours dessert in Brooklyn & found this gem. They offer an interesting mix of alcoholic & non alcohol if desserts. It is very small. A long bar when you walk in seats 8 people. The back room has 9 small tables for two. It is a pretty tight space. The music is extremely loud. We were yelling at each other in our conversation. You get menus from the bartender then have to go up to the bar to order your food. We ordered key lime pie, brownie sundae, vanilla shake & mini cupcakes. The bartender brings your order to your table. The cupcakes were horrible! They were hard as a rock. The paper was stuck to the cupcakes & hard to get off. I ate the frosting off the maple bacon, took a bite of the lemon lavender & chocolate & left it on the plate. The key line was fresh & flavorful. Brownie sundae was huge & loaded with brownie, ice cream, hot fudge & toffee bits. Very good! The vanilla shake didn’t disappoint either. Overall pretty good. Since they are open until 2am this is probably a good stop after a night out.

Dessert + adult beverages? These people are fucking geniuses. Both impressed — we had the S’mores pie, which was like crack it was so freaking good. I’m not a huge s’mores person or a huge pie person, but this s’mores pie I could eat every day. Drinks at $ 10 a pop are easy on the wallet. I loved my Honeychile Rider — super spicy in the beginning but less spicy at the end. Great combo of ingredients. The Jump in the Line was also very good. The only down to this place is the layout. It’s a super long bar with about 1 foot of space behind the bar. When the bar is full and you’re standing behind the bar, it’s not exactly comfortable. They have some tables in the back — so you have to squeeze your way to the back to get to them, but once you’re sitting down while it’s squished, it’s definitely preferred to standing behind the bar.

Love!!! Quaint little diner-ish dessert bar. My #goodlocalpassport led me here and I’m so glad it did! Their cocktails are super unique. I had something off the menu, and it was pretty much a shot of coffee. The playlist was ONPOINT, old school r&b/hip hop and the bartenders create a posi vibe. Unfortunately I did not try any desserts, but I will come back for it. I highly recommend the sesame chile popcorn: chile infused popcorn sesame oil, red pepper flakes and salt –YUM. Drinks, décor, snacks, vibe, and bomb playlist — I’m definitely coming back here again.

I fell in love with Butter & Scotch while sampling some their delicious cakes during a cocktails and chocolate event at Urbos. There were 25 tables and I kept circling theirs, their cakes were so good! A dream turned reality via Kickstarter, two talented pastry chefs are taking Brooklyn by storm. Their pastries are out of this world delicious! I want a slice of their birthday cake 365 days of the year. Their drinks and dessert concept is pretty cool, and they fit right into the amazing Crown Heights restaurant scene. I will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu.

Love this place! Tucked away on the other side of the highway in crown heights. Get off on Franklin Ave and yes you have a long row of fun bars and amazing restaurants but if you just cross the street you’ll hit this gem. When you open the door you see a giant neon sign and kind of a old school 70s diner look. Hipster churning out boozy milkshakes and dishing out some fantastic desserts! We got the homemade hellos shots which apparently changes everyday so it’s a new flavor all the time! We also got the birthday cake slice, it’s big enough to share! It was soft and super dense, if you like a eggy and vanilla type taste you’ll definitely love this! The waiters were extremely nice and went through some of their favorites! Definitely stop by you won’t regret it!

Screw your diet. Don’t even worry about carbs or dietary fiber. Just think cocktails, frosting, pies, butter, and the best 90’s TBT playlist, ever! My favorite thing to order here is the beer and jell-o shot combo. For 6 little dollars, you get a gourmet jell-o shot and a Miller High Life. «What is a gourmet jell-o shot?» you ask. Think cocktail solidified with gelatin presented in the rind of various citrus fruit. I really loved the blood and sand one they had which was made with blood orange and(duh) served in the rind of the blood orange. I do have to say, they have significantly shrunk the size of the shots from ¼ of the fruit down to 1⁄8. Sucks but they gotta make dat money. The pies are also amazing. The pecan pie is my favorite. Not at all cloying with the most amazing crust! The key lime pie is also a nice fruity alternative with just the right amount of tart to go with you drink. If you’re looking for booze themed deserts. I suggest the Negroni pie. Show of hands: who wants diabetes! *raises hand*

I first came here after my best-friend gushed about if for a few weeks. Specifically the«Birthday Cake» Once I finally tried I totally understood. The cake was life and as the sign in front reads«Bitches Love Sprinkles»… I will say I had an issue with one of the staff members. She was being incredibly rude. When I went to the bar to order she looked at me and just ignored me. Which I was not okay with, she continued to ignore me and ultimately another staff member helped me. To be honest I had planned on never coming back, as I am not in the habit of giving my money away, especially to rude people. Due to circumstance I actually ended up in the place the next morning for brunch. This experience saved Butter & Scotch from being written off as the the newest hipster hellhole columbusing my neighborhood. The staff was wonderful at brunch, very accommodating and just fun in general. They will be the reason I come back and try this place again.

Very cool place, hybrid between a cocktail bar and a dessert spot; open late(2am). The service is professional and personable. It’s tiny, so getting a seat on weekend nights is about luck. Their s’mores pie is the star of the show: decadent, and something you have never had. The ginger pecan pie is tasty, but not as interesting. I want to go back to taste the key lime pie.

Boozy milkshakes! What’s not to love!!! A childhood treat in an adult form. My kind of happiness on a Friday night. I had an El Duderino(coffee ice cream, vodka, & Kahlua), which was an epic delight. At $ 16, a little pricey, but in my opinion, worth it. I’m also fond of their birthday cake(fluffy white cake with pink frosting and sprinkles). A generous slice for $ 6. Service is a bit slow, but honestly why are you in a hurry? Drink your milkshake and enjoy yourself. Then again, their air conditioning is on full blast, so between the shake and the AC, I was frozen by the time I finished. Definitely come here for the boozy shakes.

Wow, what a super-cool, high-caloric experience this place is :) When my friend told me we were going to a bar within a bakery, I already knew I would not be eating healthy that night. This place is pretty amazing if you have a sweet tooth– boozy milkshakes, giant slices of birthday cake with sprinkles, delicious little cupcakes– and you can get any baked good you want blended into a milkshake! The birthday cake is some of the best cake I’ve ever tasted – and I’m not usually a cake person. The mini cupcakes were great, especially the lavender, and the key lime pie was soooo good. If I lived closer it would be a serious problem.

Despite the friendly bartender, the layout and ambiance here just aren’t conducive to feeling comfortable ordering things to go, and I don’t drink, so I doubt I’ll be back… Shame, too, because the $ 4 boozy bowl* of dark&stormy popcorn was quite good, and the salted chocolate chip cookie was baked just enough to be awesome. *aka cup with uncovered lid meant for a drink so the popcorn goes bad more quickly

Food: the gf and I were wandering around town to satisfy our sweet tooth and Unilocaled this sweet little spot. It has an awesome hipster bar vibe and atmosphere with a bakery attached to the bar where they make their pies, cupcakes and sweets. We ordered the Smores pie and it was delicious. The marshmallow was fluffy with a beautiful burnt top. It was sweet but not overwhelming. Brew: a chocolate stout really complimented the richness of the pie. The chocolate flavor was subtle but you still taste a hint of it on your palate. The bitterness of the beer balanced out the sweetness of the pie very well.

Completely randomly stopped in because I had an hour to kill before driving home… Didn’t wanna deal with rush hour traffic, and how could I pass up a place named for my two favourite things??? Had the high life and Jell-O shot. The shot is crazy fantastically boozy and tasty. Do it. I wish I had have tried the hot buttered scotch but I didn’t see it until I had already ordered :( Also, they had 86d the chocolate chip cookies and a pie I think because the texture came out wrong even though they apparently tasted good. I can totally respect a place that does that!

Anyone who knows me knows my entire life begins and ends with the word S’MORES! So a few weeks ago my entire life changed when I met my soul mate… The S’MORESPIE at Butter & Scotch! My boyfriend and I were out to dinner and afterwards we were looking for something sweet. Magic happened when we entered Butter & Scotch. It’s a very very small bar with limited seating. We really wanted to try the food so we ended up sharing one bar stool… Yes one! Either way the bartender was accommodating considering he had a full bar to serve. They have a small menu but remember quality not quantity at this place! We ordered a few things, the butterscotch trifle, the Jell-O shots in an orange slice, and oh yes the S’Mores pie! Before it came to me a man walking by made it his business to come inside and tell us to try it!!! Can you feel the excitement!?? When the glorious pie arrived to me it was everything I had ever dreamed of and more! Crunchy graham cracker crust, creamy, chocolate ganache center, and sweet, smokey, crispy, warm and gooey marshmallow on top!!! I’ve been here a few times since just for the pie… I’ll always come back for the pie… I love the PIE!!!

Everything about my experience at the new brick & mortar location was far worse than the experiences I had at Smoragasburg and other food fests trying some of the delicious stuff I know Butter & Scotch can make. The tiny, narrow space was completely packed, making it difficult to navigate to the back area past the bar, where there are a few small tables set up. Once we were finally able to make it there, the confusion set in among us and several other people trying to figure out how to order food and/or drinks. It was a disorganized scramble to get the attention of a bartender, who we had to shout our order to over the backs of people sitting at the bar. We eventually got a number and took it to a small table we were lucky enough to snag. Before the sweets, we tried a few of the savory options from the menu. We got the Sesame Chile Popcorn($ 5) and the Cheese Puffs($ 5). The popcorn was noticeably stale, and had no crunch. We put the big metal bowl aside to try the Cheese Puffs, which weren’t much better. They may have been tasty, but were cold, which was not a good temperature for the crispy balls filled with cheese. On to the sweet stuff, we got the S’mores Pie($ 6), which they are well known for from the various markets they sell at. It was pretty good, but disappointingly not as good as I remembered from previous times trying it. Finally, we got the Cupcake Trio(Lemon Lavender, Chocolate Salted Caramel, Maple Bacon)($ 5). Much like the popcorn, these were completely off and not worth eating. They tasted like they pulled them straight out of the fridge, with the icing still hard and the cake itself cold. Maybe these problems I mentioned above are less noticeable if you have a few drinks first. If you are just interested in the sweets like me though, I wouldn’t bother coming here. Maybe just try some of their sweets when you see them at Smorgasburg.
