Budin is the only café dedicated to bringing Nordic roasters to New York. If you know what’s happening in coffee, you will appreciate these lighter-roasted coffees from the likes of Wendelboe. Such a treat. Must visit if you are interested in the best light-roast espresso in New York. I’ve been more than 10 times.

I love a good rainy/dreary Sunday that calls for an extra cup of coffee. After a good gym session today my husband was intent on trying this coffee shop, since we’ve walked by it a 1000 times. It’s a super cute, clean, and roomie location on Greenpoint Ave! The area has a ton of light and seating. We ordered a large drop coffee($ 3.50) and an iced cold brew coffee($ 3.50). The coffee itself is very good and the cold brew was strong. I’d say as far as Greenpoint goes I prefer Sweetleaf and Budin’s coffee over say Ovenly whose coffee kind of sucks to me. Definitely worth a visit. Oh, and they sell beer and wine as well!!’

Great place, wonderful staff. It is a must go place when visiting Greenpoint. Their almond crossiant is amazing. Got some of their coffee beans and cannot wait to try them out. I will definately going back when I visit NYC again.

Great place. great and friendly service. lovely garden! fantastic coffee and they actually make a perfect cortado! Muffins — need more fruit !!! I had a nice size muffin ! looked so appetizing but there were literally 6 cranberries inside. 6 !! That size of a muffin needs at least twice the amount !

I like this place. Atmosphere is good, decent amount of seating, including outdoor seating. Good wi-fi and decent service. I’ve had coffee here generally, but also stopped in for a glass of wine or beer on a few evenings. Definitely a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy your drink either solo or with a friend. No complaints about any of the drinks. Another thing, their hours are fantastic. They’re open from early in the morning to late at night so you can literally stop in at any time. A little pricy and not much to eat though.

I really wanted to love this place. Even though it’s a tad more money then I want to spend on my coffee, my main problem is the coffee is never really that hot, tastes good but I could do with out.

Awesome beer! They have a nice assortment from Evil Twin and other cool breweries. Huge space. Great for doing homework, reading or doing professional work. Super friendly staff. Really nice people.

I like this place. I can have nice coffee and get some beer with friends as well. And it’s good to bring your laptop and do your thing and have nice coffee too cozy!

This is a nice little coffeeshop with a cozy décor and free wifi. They have various tables of different sizes and a mixture of low chairs and higher stools. The coffee here is pretty good and the latte art is a definite plus. They even have something called an aeropress coffee, which comes with a flask. The presentation seems pretty cool. I also heard that this place turns into a bar at night, which sounds exciting and I’m excited to come back and see how that aspect is.

Incredible shot + seals & crofts on the stereo. Anything less than a perfect five just wouldn’t be right.

I don’t say this often, but Unilocalers have rated this place terribly, horribly wrong. As of this review this Nordic café only has 4 stars and there is just no way in hell this café is any less than a 5 star«Holy-shit-I’m-really-going-to-lose-my-shit-and-get-arrested-for-public-disturbance-and-you-better-call-the-cops-if-I-do-because-shit’s-about-to-get-serious» type of specialty coffee junkie dreamboat type of place. The Scandinavians are a peaceable group of folk(all that cold probably makes ‘em wanna cuddle, but I digress) so I held it together, but just barely. Order anything you want, but make sure you also get at least a second or third drink of whatever the barista of the day recommends of whatever black coffee, no cream, no sugar they feel like making. Trust me, your soul wants this… if you have one, that is.

The coffee here is good! And the place turns into a wine/beer bar at night. It’s pretty chill. But… the lakkris latte… not for me. Not good at all. If you like licorice, I hope you like it. The flavor is too strong and between me and my friend, we couldn’t finish it. I do like the interior and it’s atmosphere. It’s very relaxed and would be a nice place to get some work/reading done.

Nordic coffee bar by day, super chill wine and beer bar by night. The baristas here are friendly and have a great sense of humor. Iced coffee is great, as are their espresso drinks. Not too bitter. Lots of people parked here on their laptops, but beware that outlets are a bit scarce. There’s always room/open seating though, and the backyard is comfortable through the fall months.

This is the epitome of a Brooklyn hipster coffee shop with really good coffee. I got a cold brew, and while I’m no coffee snob, I thought it was really, really good. The café itself has a minimalist Scandanavian vibe, but there is plenty of room to sit, and also a nice garden in the back that is good to sit and read when the weather is nice. I will say that the café can be really quiet, so if you’re looking to have a loud conversation, this might not be the place.

One’s back is vulnerable, unless one has a brother — The Saga of Grettir the Strong What’s with these Nordic coffeehouses in NYC? They have all the greats: Elin Nordegren, SAAB, NordicTrack and now coffee. Go Vikings, Go Vikings Go! I swung in for a cuppa coffee. It’s a nice looking spot with a large counter. I sit at the counter and ordered a latte with a cookie. Very nicely made espresso! I’m a fan. There’s room in Greenpoint for another coffee house. Oh, I’m not done with this review. BÚÐIN is also a BEER house. Yippy! This is from their website: The beer program includes eight draft choices and over 20 bottles and cans of the most outstanding and unique beverages either from or influenced by the old and new brewing traditions of the Nordics. As Homer says in America. Mmm Beer… Ha det!

We were looking for a place to grab a café after our dinner around 8pm or so on a Saturday and this place popped up in the neighborhood. Fortunately, it was one of the better rated cafes open so we gave it a shot as some of the others that were recommended to us had closed for the night. When we walked in, it was very clean, quiet and dimly lit. The long wooden tables provided for extra space if you are going all out with your caffeine order. The espressos we ordered were ok. You really need to have an open mind to tasting the Guatemala beans as they have a slight hint of bitterness that other beans typically do not have. Overall, the price was reasonable and espressos were ok so should you be in the neighborhood, give it a shot.

LICORICECOFFEE! Let me preface this with: I had been successfully staying in my friends apartment for the past two days. She had a stocked freezer full of food, and I hadn’t needed to purchase food for myself for the past 2 days. That being said, I was in the mood to splurge. And splurge I did on a $ 10 licorice latte that was mentioned/suggested by another Unilocaler. I’m glad I did. It has a lovely sweet, salty quality with a surprising complexity. Even if you don’t LOVE licorice, I’d tell you to give it a try, but if you HATE the flavour, it’s not for you at all. Also, if you can’t afford a $ 10 latte, then don’t do it. But, seeing as how I hadn’t spent anything else… It was ALMOST worth the $ 10. If it had have been $ 8, they might have gotten another star and I’d tell you to definitely try it. But the price point is really just a bit outrageous. The barista was super friendly, and offered me an additional licorice/chocolate ball that I shared with my mother. We fell in love with it, and the flavour, and headed over to the Chelsea Market Basket, where they sell a full line of(extremely expensive, and extremely worth the price), Nordic Lakkrid Licorice products. Really worth the 1x splurge! If you have the $$$ it’s the only way to do a latte. I’d suggest trying with Almond or soy milk for an extra interesting flavour, and maybe a double shot!

I have quickly fallen in love with this Nordic-style coffee shop. They have excellent baristas and excellent coffee all at an attractive price. Lattes are all default double shots as well! They use aeropress for their single origin brews, which helps to bring out the subtle notes of each bean very well. I always try to stop in for a coffee whenever I am in the area, and I’ve never been disappointed!

So this place is cool looking and quite crowded. My suspicion is that folks are coming here for 1 of 2 reasons. The first is curiosity, as the coffe is different as is the technique. The second is because folks think this place is trendy or cool. Either way, the coffee is some of the least palatable I have ingested. We ordered a cappuccino which was cold by the time it reached the table. I ordered the Columbia aero press. It presented in an Erlenmeyer flask which is certainly cool and interesting. However, it quickly robs the coffee of its warmth and it too is cold by the time I get to my table. The coffee is oddly fruity and light in its presentation. Very much odd and not to my liking. No need to come here again, as two misses on coffee basics.

I went when this place 1st open, my mom read the review in the paper and made me walk all the way there to get it for her. In my very honest opinion it was not worth the 10 min walk and $ 10 for the Lakkris Latte– Horrible(but that is to my taste and my mother’s taste.) The regular coffee is very watery– and doesn’t have a strong consistency. The place over all is nice– You can buy an over price scarf, over price shirt– or what looks like a shirt. But not my cup of coffee and have never gone back.

Chill, relaxing space in the heart of Greenpoint. Their prices are a bit steep, but it’s a cozy atmosphere and well worth the visit for the infamous anise latte. We hung out here for a small snack and tried their gravlax on seeded toast, which was delicious. Hot chocolates are also on point if you’re not into the caffeine thing. They have a space in the back selling Scandinavian products such as soap and blankets — a bit pricey but worth wandering through for the amusement.

Good coffee and a very cool place. They have a back patio, which is not the nicest patio ever, but it is good to have some outdoor space. I like that it is bright and open. I enjoy cozy coffee shops that have the whole laptop scene going on, but sometimes I like to be somewhere a little more active and lively. I’ve only been once so I can’t speak at lenght about the coffee, but I’m sure it is all good. My cortado was a little too milky and not quite as warm as I would ilke, but the espresso was good. Staff was nice. A little stand off-ish, but good.

Spacious, clean, good coffee, fresh baked goods and other goodies for sale as well. I was looking for flat white, of course — and It was pretty darn good. I came here late in the day, and croissants were still fresh, perfectly buttery and light. Loved the streamlined and simple Scandinavian design, open space layout and friendliness of it. Pretty comfortable spot if you need a quiet place to work or just to relax.

An ambitious coffeehouse and retail project. Café in front, Nordic nic nacs in back. The Scandinavian design is sleek and spacious. The room has a Euro-cozy feel and transports you. Foodwise– Ate– Brown bread and butter Almond croissant Coffewise– Cappucino Wendelboe pour with a piece of licorice Total breakfast foodwise and coffeewise $ 18 The food comes in locally from Williamsburg, the brown bread was good, but dry without jam. The croissant was delish. They offered water and it also came with the Wendelboe. I was a little surprised they did not bring over the water to the table for the price, and since I was the lone customer at that time, so I could see some resenting these blow-ins at these prices. It;s a café not a science project so some significant warmth is expected. The cappuccino was nor hot, but strong. The Wendelboe was weak to my taste, but the piece of licorice(I hate licorice too!), added a nice dimension to the brew. The goods in back are unique like much of Budin. Since it is a new spot, one must take the good with the lukewarm so to speak. A great jumping off point for a day shopping on Franklin or a walk on the waterfront as warmer weather approaches.
