Wasn’t impressed with food or service. Expectations were high due to people’s recommendations. Seems like it’s closed more often than open.

We went by on 11⁄22 and it was closed due to fire. The sign said it would re-open soon. My family LOVES this place. Great service and Italian-American cuisine. My wife and I love it for date night.

I’m so surprised I haven’t updated my review! I’m so sorry Battista! After that first time we were back after a while, everything was amazing. That mean waitress luckily isn’t there anymore, and my boyfriend and I visit this establishment almost every Saturday night! My new staple that I order thanks to a very kind waitress,(I wish I got her name, she works at nights and waits the back room) is the potato-encrusted salmon. It’s to die for! Everything is great here and the prices are moderate. And now the service is great too!

I never thought I’d be using my Unilocal app to help find a good nearby place to eat in between viewing session for a wake. It fell on me to figure out where the family would go to eat and be together and Unilocal guided me literally across the street to Battista Ristorante. We did not have a reservation but they quickly set up a table for what ended up being 12 people. The interior décor is warm and the staff outstanding. Our server gave a detailed description of the daily specials… multiple times. She put together a Hot and Cold Antipasti, based on her favorites, which turned out to be our favorites. The grilled Octopus was incredible. We weren’t there for the happiest of occasions but the hospitality, quality and quantity of the meal, not to mention flowing wine lifted everyone’s spirits(poor choice of word). I had the the best Saltimbocca Alla Romana I’ve ever tasted, while my wife had the Veal Rollatini. The Fish Specials were incredible and the portion sizes were huge. Battista provided a warm environment for us to be together as a family, sharing a meal and celebrating a Life.

Great food, great staff. Some of the best fish dishes I have had anywhere. My son also enjoys the spaghetti and meatballs.

Fantastic food. Service is excellent. Came here for Easter with my sister. There specials are always amazing and can’t wait to see what they have each time I go. Our server Phyllis was amazing, her suggestions were perfect and we have the same taste. Kimberly was able to fit us in for dinner with last minute reservations. We had the baked clams, yum, fried mozzarella, yum, I had the squid ink pasta and my sister had the stuffed chicken, both outrageous. We had the ricotta cheese cake, WOW. The tiramisu and fruit tort.. Love this place and you need to get yourself there to try all there dishes. Thanks for a great Easter…

Really great«old school» Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. We were a party of 9 and the waitress could not be friendlier and more accommodating! Olive oil with fresh ground pepper in it served with warm bread for starters. A wide variety of specials as well as the regular menu. We started with some really delicious appetizers, fried calamari, fennel salad, fried mozzarella. 3 of us chose the mushroom ravioli special as an entrée. A very wise choice, I loved it. My husband ordered the branzino which he said was very good too. Loved the fact that the owner came over to see how everything was. We were treated to after dinner drinks of sambuca which was really a nice touch. Note: They do not have hard liquor but they do have beer and a nice variety of all types of wine. Restaurant was really very good!

Came here for the first time today with my father, we loved the food & the service was great! I had never had a better Sunday sauce! The proportions were really large…& I loved the waitress who use to work at La Villa! I always had her since I was young :) I will definitely come back to this place! So happy we have a great restaurant in the neighborhood & they deliver as well ! Awesome!

One of the best places for traditional Italian food. These people definitely know how to run a business with over the top costumer care. Our waiter was always checking on us to see if we were in need of anything and then took a selfie with me and my partner, kinda funny :) (If you want to bring kids their only choices for beverages are water and wine)

If the food wasn’t good here, I’d be giving it 1 star. I’ve come here a few times with my husband and inlaws because it’s local and they insist it’s great. I don’t mind Italian food, but I’m not a fan of dishes drowning in any sort of tomato sauce. The focaccia that’s brought out with the bread and oil is great, and I’ve enjoyed the cold antipasto(the hot antipasto is just fried vegetables covered in sauce), the gnocchi, and the carbonara. It’s the service that’s horrendous here. This particular time we went for an early dinner with very few other people in the restaurant. No one should be seated without a menu, but for some reason, we had to wait 15 minutes to get 3 menus(we were 4 people). Drinks alone took another 15 minutes. The couple next to us ordered wine and sat for 30 minutes without a menu or their wine before they got up and left. The gnocchi on the menu normally comes in a red sauce, so I asked the waitress if I could order the gnocchi with the garlic/oil sauce. She said it wouldn’t be a problem. We waited a long time for our entrees and my gnocchi was brought out covered in the red sauce. I told her that I didn’t order that way, so she apologized and said she’d get me another one. My new entrée didn’t come out until everyone else had almost finished. She said that only the owner’s daughter is allowed to use the POS system to place orders and she let us know that she was an idiot who never listens to the servers and always messes up. It made me uncomfortable because a) she was sharing this and b) it sounds like a shady business practice. We came a few weeks ago and the service was a little better, so maybe there’s a new owner, but I’m sure there’s better and less sketchy places to get good Italian food.

Very Good, There calamari & shrimp appetizer is a large portion BUT there was only one shrimp! I asked the waitress about it she said they usually give 2 to 3 shrimp with that. So I recommend they should just call it calamari & throw in 1 shrimp as a mistake. We have gone numerous times now very nice but the heat and cooling could be a little better. summer and winter. Food is very good as some people have stated in reviews can sometimes have too much salt But very tasty

Amazing Restaurant… Food, Atmosphere, Service all top notch. A rare gem in my old neighborhood. I’m not sure you’ll find an Italian restaurant comparable anywhere near by. I used to like La Villa, but the delivery was terrible, they’re grossly overpriced and the food overall has fallen off. I love Battista on all fronts, this is officially now my new spot in Old Mill Basin. The grilled calamari and octopus is out of this world, I also had the lamb/steak combination over broccoli rabe and mashed potatoes, excellent cuts of meat cooked to absolute perfection. I highly recommend this place to anyone serious about food.

Battista is a great Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. I love coming here because the atmosphere is great and the service is even better. It’s also BYOW I made at 730 pm reservation for two people earlier in the day, and when we got there a little earlier we were able to be seated without a wait. Even though it was a Thursday evening the restaurant was still packed, even up until we left around 930. To start they bring out really good warm bread with some olive oil, add a little pepper to the olive oil and it’s perfect. We ordered the zucchini flowers for an appetizer. My gawd, PERFECT, the only imperfect thing after that was its only 2 zucchini flowers per order. For my meal I had the Pollo E Salsicce. It was chicken and sausage sauted with white wine and roasted potatoes. AMAZINGGGG. Whenever eating at Battista you can tell you’re eating great quality food, everything always comes out so fresh and you don’t ever leave hungry or disappointed. This is finally the good Italian restaurant this neighborhood needed. SOOO good, 100000% worth the visit if you’ve never been here before.

People who consider themselves foodies recommended this restaurant. I’m hoping that we just hit it on a bad night. We ordered butterfly shrimp with mushrooms in a butter white wine sauce. The appetizers came, and the shrimps were not butterflied and in a brown mushroom sauce.
The waiter kept insisting that we order from the specials menu. After his fifth attempt, he realized that he should let us order from the menu. The Fettuccine Bolognese homemade fettuccine sauteed in a slow-cooked homemade beef ragout. Homemade beef ragout, I don’t think so. The ragout tasted like bad baby food. The Broccoli Rabe & sausage over pasta was bland, and the pasta was very very al-dente. Oh, did I mention the bug I had to kill on the wall. What can I say, I do not think we will try this place again.

Friendly staff and service. Many specials to consider. Recommend experimenting with Battista’s appetizers including fried calamari and antipasto. We were part of a gang of nine, and we chose the raviolis(Ravioli Boscaiola), whole manila clams(Spaghetti Alla Vongole) with pasta, and the tiramisu dessert all served with the hearty house Chianti. See pics. Enjoyed all. Battista Pluses: * Crusty bread * Complimentary rice balls in sauce * Creative appetizers * Good value * Old world feel to the place… with Brooklyn charm. Couple of Gripes: * Although it was April, just too cold and drafty * Caesar Salad was over-dressed and not authentic. Based on other patrons arriving after us, this is a popular local family restaurant. Overall, would recommend based on freshness, flavor, value and friendly service.

So i have been to this place twice and i have to say the food was outstanding each time. The service is wonderful. The only reason why i will not give it 5 stars is because on the 2 different occasions that i have been here my wife ordered the same ravioli dish which is on the menu and it has come out 2 different ways.

If this place was in another neighborhood, I have no doubt it would be very well known. But alas; hidden on a corner of ave N in a neighborhood«trendy» Brooklynites have never heard of or been too is this gem. Very old school feel in a modern restaurant with excellent food. Service was a bit spotty but friendly. Chef came out to ask how the food was and thanked us for coming. I’m a fan.
