Really love this place, and the bartender is really sweet. Just a cozy, comfortable place where no one’s trying to impress anyone.

This spot is hard to describe. The décor says dive bar but it is a semi-serious cocktail bar. The bartender this afternoon«Chickpea» was nice enough and knew how to make a cocktail. Not a big place so the conversation at the bar was great. I would stop by again even tho it is out of the way for me. Prices are reasonable. No beer on tap that I noticed. Décor is decidedly rustic but in a nice way. Background music was the bartender’s iPhone playlist so it may vary shift to shift. Does anyone else think that the name is odd — when I first saw it I guessed that it was a Thai restaurant.

Dude, if you want to only pay attention to your friends, well have a house party, don’t work in a bar whoever you are. One star because you didn’t serve me that bad wine in a mason jar, it was a pleasant surprise

I’m a little biased because it is my neighborhood spot, but I’d classify it as a solid cocktail bar. I keep coming back because there’s always someone to strike up a conversation with and I’m not into loud bar bars. It gets busy on some weeknights and weekend nights, but it’s never overwhelming. On Sundays, they have open jazz night. I typically order a Manhattan or a cheap can of Modelo and some spiced nuts. The other bar bites are pretty good small plates, but probably not a meal.

A local brought me here for a post-dinner drink and this place oozes charm. Great patio and great decoration inside. And most importantly, these folks know their cocktails. Ordered the Poppa’s Pride and omg. O.M.G. Spicy and delicious. I am surprised this cocktail hasn’t blown up to be a classic because it’s just perfection. So I had another. Kinda wish I had a third… Now I am on my way back to SF and I begin my experimentation on how to make this amazing drink.

Funky bar in Brooklyn. I’d say their best feature aside from the drinks is the back patio. Great for a summer day as it holds quite a large number of people. The rest of the bar is small(ish) and quaint. There are half a dozen seats at the bar, a few 4 tops in a dining area and then bench/window seats that face the street. The food is rad with offerings like deviled duck eggs, kale salad, jamon serrano, and a «q ban» sandwich. Simple, fresh stuff, basically. I think if you think of enjoying drinking at a public house or traditional, old school style bar, Ba’sik is made for you. It’s a «back to basics» type spot that’s got just enough charm that it’s cozy, but not too much that it feels forced. In keeping with that theme the drinks are superb. It’s just an all around fun spot. When I was here there were TVs on and music playing but I believe they might also have live bands performing from time to time. The only funny quirk I noticed was that the bathrooms are not created equal. They’re not gendered so it doesn’t matter, but one is teeny tiny and the other is oddly spacious. Oh the perks of old buildings! If you end up in the smaller bathroom, just wait longer next time and use the other one. Both are clean and totally operable, one’s just noticeably more comfy.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for this place for a while now so here we go ! Got lost in Brooklyn with some friends on a Monday and found this gem. It was relatively slow in regards to traffic, but it was also raining. So we pretty much had the place to ourselves. One of the owners, Jay, was bar tending and was super cool ! I had the Bright Hatchet as well as the Madagas-quiri which were both super refreshing. 2 cocktails were enough for me. I tried the oatmeal cookies and they were delicious. Think Girl Scout Samoas . Besides the tasty cocktails, the service is what really got me. Jay was the perfect host from conversations about New Orleans, to jammin out to the new Alabama Shakes record with us. You have a fine establishment and the next time I come to Basik it will be on purpose.

This is one of my fiancé and I’s go to bars in the neighborhood. They’ve got great drinks and delicious, unique bar food. The Poppa’s Pride is one of the best whiskey cocktails I’ve had and they make it nice and strong. Highly recommend their hot dogs and mac and cheese. It’s also right by the L train, so it’s a great place to come for drinks before a night out or right after work.

Good wine but overly priced, oily bar food trying to pass as fancy wine bar. Nice atmosphere and pretty garden. Wanted to like it but felt disappointed.

Loud inside the bar. The space is not built for quiet, intimate socializing. Then add the band playing on Sunday’s and talking is impossible. If you go out back to the outside area there’s a dog barking its head off which puts you in a good mood. I’ve been here many times so the experience isn’t an anomaly. Get your loud drunk voice on here, otherwise head to harefield road for your own corner to have a drink and communicate with others.

First things first, when I walked in it smelled like swamp ass. Moving past that, I decided to come to Basik to get some writing done. I usually go to Harefield Road, Variety, or Mothers but I figured I would try something different. I sat down at the bar and waited patiently for one of the bartenders to come over to me. NEVER happened. Keep in mind it was a Saturday afternoon and was hardly that busy. I watched as the bartenders tended to every single other person at the bar while ignoring me. I finally signaled the male bartender and managed to get a drink. I finished my glass of wine and at that point the male bartender was gone. I waited again for the female bartender(older looking and wearing a plaid shirt) to even remotely acknowledge me but nope never happened. I saw her literally ask the girl next to me if she would like another one. Yet my empty glass remained ignored. The bartender actually talked to every other person at the bar ignoring me. I even saw her look in my direction and turn away. I’m not sure if they’re anti-laptop(in which case don’t offer free wifi) but regardless their rudeness was completely unnecessary. It wasn’t like I was buying just as many drinks as the next person. It wasn’t I was dawdling away milking a glass of water. Hopefully the bartender can pull the pole out of her ass. In the meantime I’ll stick to Harefield Road where they are always friendly and welcoming.

I don’t know why I’m not going more often to this place. It’s next to my house and this bar is pretty cool. Only had drink but the food smell really good. I tried the modelo with the spicy sauce. Not convince with that thing. But whatever, place is intimate. Good for dates or just to hang out with some friends.

Aside from the fact that outside of the bar looks like a sauna /spa place. It has a pretty good industrial looking décor. Dim lights, packed with people, and the ambience was relaxed and hip. The reason for four stars is because I just didn’t like their drink menu. Maybe I ordered something wrong, but still I wouldn’t order it twice again, and how pricey it was.

Cool place. Lovely interior. Usually humid in cold weather(dishwasher under the bar makes it feel like a sauna /but I’m a fun way). Drinks are mixed pretty well. Prices are good for the area. There’s one cute corner right on your right when you enter. Can’t complain at all.

So we were visiting a friend who lives near Ba’sik and we decided to stop here on our way home from dinner at Xixa(which was amazing as well!). So we tell the bartender, Jay, that we wanted something him and fizzy. He makes us a cocktail that is spot on delicious. We go to the patio and enjoy them. On our way out, we stop and say goodnight to him. But then we are convinced to stay for one more drink(we celebrated an engagement). We ended up staying until 4! It was a great vibe, like hanging out with friends. I wish I had this in California. Thanks for a great evening, Jay. Next time I find myself in Brooklyn, I’ll be back!

I went here on May 12th to get some work done and enjoy some good drinks and food. Place did NOT disappoint! They were out of deviled duck eggs. But plenty of other delicious choices. And when I say«delicious» I mean OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD scrumptious! I ordered:(2) drinks with tequila(Sooo good!!), chicken salad sandwich —(Incredible!!) and the Arroz dulce — O.M.G!!! Atmosphere is understated-chique. Bartenders vary but the one from that night was perfect. Knew how to pour and expedite orders! Come here — for any reason at all. You’ll love it.

This is my neighborhood bar. It is awesome. That’s why I’m the Duke. Also, the bartenders are super-nice. The snacks are delicious. Diane and I rather frequently have dinner here. There are some really great new cocktails, but the rather classic«Poppa’s Pride» is an excellent foundational drink. As for the new stuff in more detail, the seasonal offerings are spot on and I’ve happily branched out to incorporate Cynar into some of the cocktails I make at home. There’s lively music on occasion which results in some crowding in the front, but the back courtyard is spacious and nicely lit.

Although I pass this place all the time, I never thought to stop in. It’s much bigger than it appears from the outside, complete with a cute garden in the back. It’s usually busy and it took a few minutes to get the bartenders attention on a Friday afternoon towards the tail-end of happy hour. A particular cocktail appealed to me, but I asked for it to be made with gin instead of rum. The bartender was hesitant but was willing to give it a try. The drink was great — probably should have been made with gin to begin with. She seemed pleased that I liked the drink and I’m glad she took a shot at making it with the liquor of my choice. Overall, a cute place with a solid cocktail list and competent bartenders. I would come back again and hopefully secure a seat out back. The food also looked really good.

A big fan of this bar! Smells like a spa, but what ever. Great staff and cocktails! Usually quiet early in the evening which is perfect for that quiet drink after work before heading home. I’ve lived close to this bar for almost two years and have only become a regular in the last few months. Gotta make up for lost time now! Love their rocks.

Great neighborhood bar. Casual, relaxed vibe. Fantastic music. Friendly bartender. Drinks are solid. Poppa’s Pride — yea, that one is something to be proud of. Strong, with perfect amount of mint and bitters. Cheers, they know what they are doing! Bar snacks are simple, and simply awesome. Gazpacho was refreshing and Serrano ham was yuuuuumy. Loved reclaimed architectural salvage bar detailing. There are tables and outdoor seating on backyard as well. Simply put — great spot for after work drinks and chat.
