Fiancée and I had a stressful day — she was waiting on a call back to see if she got a job(she did!), and I had a long day at work. So we kind of just wanted to unwind. So, on our next pizza journey, we wanted to see what we could find on Seamless, and Armando’s popped up with a strong 5 stars to back it up. We were feeling a thin crust and, as we regretfully didn’t go with their special sicilian pie(next time!), we picked a «margarita» pizza with pepperoni. The pizza. It came and I had my worries once I felt the bottom of the box: it seemed that the oil had softened the bottom and when picking up the slices I felt like the pizza was sticking to the box a bit. Regardless of that, it was a fine pizza. Not as good as Juliana’s or Lombardi’s, but a fine neighborhood pizzeria. Next time I’ll order the sicilian!

I finally got a chance to check out Armando’s pizza and I now see why they have such good reviews. The customer service is fantastic, unlike any other pizza place that I’ve been to. The restaurant is set up like most NY pizza shops. It’s a small space with limited seating. When I walked in I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who was prepared to take my order. He had such a great personality and a cool sense of humor. I ordered a plain cheese pizza and he asked me if I wanted the pizza warm or hot. I was surprised that they actually take the time out to ASK customers how they would like their pizza. Needless to say, the pizza was yummy in my tummy! Lol! But once again, the customer service is what really makes this place stand out. I will definitely be returning.

Service is good and the pizza is great. My family refuses to eat pizza from any other place.

I love this pizza. Apparently This is the only joint that accepts out of state cards. I wish I could give them 1000s. I’m more than satisfied and happy with the service. Such quick delivery and the food just melts in your mouth. Thank you. I will be buying from you again. I come to New York 2x a year for vacation and especially for the PIZZA and you guys are now my number 1. Thank you again!

I really enjoy the food here. I eat here maybe three times a week. The pizza is well made, and fresh. When I order delivery they are fast and courteous.

Ordered a veggie pizza and it was far from anything special; too much cheese(below average quality; although they did say they ran out of fresh mozzarella), avg quality veggies, the dough was the only redeeming thing, it was actually pretty good.

Best Sicilian pie ever. Be sure to call 20 minutes in advance before you order. I remember living in Canarsie as a little girl and my parents buying a pie. Now I go buy my own and it’s still as amazing as before !

This pizza is by far the best pizza in Canarsie. The sauce is very tasty, and the pizza tastes good reheated. You can tell they use quality ingredients. We always get small pie half pepperoni.

Armondo’s was ridiculous, in a great way. 20 minute wait for arguably the best Sicilian pie ever to come out of an oven. Let me start by saying that the crust and dough are without a doubt perfect. Thick, soft and crisp. Each bite better than the one before it. They cook the dough first, then the sauce and cheese goes on and back in the oven. The cheese is excellent quality and had amazing texture when coming out of the oven. My one complaint, if you can call it that, the sauce was a bit on the sweet side and not as fine as Di Fara’s or New Park’s. But that’s a minor gripe. I wanted to eat more than the two squares I had. I will be back. As far as the old hood. Not much has changed. Farwell Canarsie! See you soon.

At the subway terminal, This is a great stop to pick-up a slice of pizza or a piece of cake. Prices are good. Get there early as this place is small and takes the time to heat your pizza. The Grandma slices we had were very good. I was thinking of getting a piece of cake as well but no time to waste gotta catch the L… Rockaway parkway. A+

I live about 15 minutes away driving. This is the only place I get my pizza in the neighborhood. If I’m craving pizza and can’t get to Armando, I get something else. Lol. The crust is really well baked with the right punt of cheese. And it always seems fresh to me. My fave !!

I spend a lot of time travelling around NYC now, and on the go it’s often hard to find cheap, easy eats that are along my path. I have to travel to Canarsie once a week, and I’ve been told that I should bring my food whenever I go there, because my vegitarian behind wouldn’t find anything there. BOYWASEVERYONEWRONG. Armondo’s is RIGHT next to the L stop — the last stop on the L line — on Rockaway parkway. It’s open late, and is remarkably affordable. Also more importantly — DELICIOUS. The grandma’s slice I had was almost perfect. I’m a pizza snob — and this was way beyond my expectations. Well flavored, well seasoned, and such good sauce! I only give them 4⁄5 stars because they could honestly use a little more space /seating. Other than that, it’s really a fantastic place. I’d travel here if I didn’t have to go to Canarsie regularly. I can’t wait to try all of their offerings!

Excellent pizza! As the most common food around every corner, it’s easy to make it, but it’s hard to make it well. Among many places I have tried, this small pizza shop definitely stands out. It’s the combination of fresh flavor from the basic ingredients like cheese, bread and tomato sauce. I remember the first time I had pizza there, I was very surprised that the pizza tasted so good there. And later when I was traveling in universal studio in orlando, where I met a local guy with his grandson at lunch time. We found out that he’s in fact from Canarsie a while ago and even he remembered the pizza shop as one of the best ones in Brooklyn. While I don’t like to use the term«the best», I certainly agree that they make excellent pizza on premise.

Downsizing this review for only one reason. They renovated the place and took all their old photos down. The ones that showed Brooklyn throughout the years. Bad move. Now that the illusion is gone, the pizza tastes average. Okay, things can’t stay the same forever. The place needed sprucing up. Still. The photos could’ve stayed. Now this pizzeria sucks.

Canarsie Brooklyn! This is the best NYC pizza point, blank, period! They still got it! Even after recent hurricane sandy they managed to maintain their JOY full essence & home alike service. There you can indulge in photos of the legendary celebrities who support that establishment. As well as being satisfied with yummy bread & pasta portions.

Pizza is pretty good actually, I had no problems the first time I ordered. However the second time, I ordered at 4:30 and my order didnt arrive until 6:30 pm. the driver blamed it on him being so far away but on google maps it takes 5 minutes exactly to get here. Very rude also.

I’ve lived in Canarsie for a good part of my life and I believe I’ve only had pizza here twice. A pain slice which was good and a Sicilian slice which I had today. Both were good. But I have had better.

Armondo’s is on par with the best New York pizzerias. It’s definitely my favorite pizzeria. The square is transcendent. The regular slice is great, too, but I think the square is what really makes Armondo’s special.

Although this place is far out in Canarsie – aka the edge of the unknown world for Manhattanites – its a legend in these parts. A place doesn’t stay open for 50 years and not be well known to be fair, but its location right next to the L train, late hours, and cheap prices helped solidify its rep. And while all of this is nice, and while the place has plenty of character(Dodgers/old school Brooklyn pics cover an entire wall, owner always there, the place’s name is also spelled no less than 3 different ways throughout the place, the main sign outside looks so fucking old school from the outside that it hurts), it wouldn’t mean much to me if the food weren’t good. I got two slices: the sicilian slice which is what they’re famous for, and the grandma slice which they recently added. The sauce here is great, well balanced and matches the slices every well. The sicilian is definitely a belly bomb and although I am not a fan of sicilians normally, this one had a fluffy inside and plenty of cheese; it was a belly bomb for sure and made me pass out on my way back to the city, but it was as thoroughly enjoyable as any sicilian I’ve had. The grandma slice was also great, but in a differnet way. Where the sicilian was a rough around the edges as it should be, the grandma was much more refined. They used a different sauce for this, one which they kicked up a notch with some seasonings, olive oil and fresh mozzarella. They edge of the crust was the only problem I had with it, as it came upwards and was harded than I would’ve liked, where most grandmas have a flatter, softer outer crust. But the sheer deliciousness of this slice outweigh this issue. If you had combined these two kinds of pizza into one, you would have a slice that could compete with any in the city, period. Is this place worth a trip out to Canarsie for? If you’re a pizza nut like me, it sure is. However, this is a place that, if they tweaked some things, could have near perfect pizza. Whether they do so is up to them, but they damn sure have the legacy, skill, and support(see their facebook page) to do so. PS: This place is the same owners as the Armando’s in Starrett City, which has many more Unilocal reviews.
