Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge

I love coming to this Clinic for numerous reasons. The wait here is not too bad, the hours of operation are great, and the clinic exam is only 25 dollars. I’ve looked at other vets and all the other vets would charge at least 60 dollars and up just for the exam. Dr. NInette Ibrahim happens to be the doctor that I always see and she’s very friendly and informative. She takes her time and explains what’s going on with my pet thoroughly. She would even personally call me for any follow ups and results.

Dr. Dave at the Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge is the best!!! I took my cat there for 2 problems and my animal was treated with great care, Dr. Dave was patient with me answered all my questions. It is obvious he’s concern is for the well being of the animal. As far as I am concerned I will never take my animals to anyone else! THANK YOU DR. DAVE!

Look no further, Dr Alexandru is an Ivy League alumni and has been practicing for more than 40 years, on top of that he’s very nice and what blows my mind is how affordable it is. I got my puppy neutered here and I’m very satisfied with their work. This will be my guy to go to from now on and I enthusiastically recommend it.

They gave my cat fleas and when I called to inform them of this risk, they were rude and denied it. Its like calling someone who gave you herpes when you were previously a virgin. Thats how they acted. They got very defensive and angry, instead of sympathetic and understanding. I have three other cats who now all have fleas. Its not a difficult thing to prevent! No need for rudeness or denial!
I brought my cat in because of an infection on his paw. He was otherwise totally healthy. A few weeks later my husband and I began getting bites on our legs in bed, and then saw bugs swarming all over our cats face. Did some research and discovered they are fleas.
The lady before me (the day I brought my cat to the vet) brought her cats in for flea treatment and my cat went directly next. Clearly they don’t do enough to sanitize!!!
This place is like an ER for pets with low quality vets who rush you out and charge you more than the nicer quality vets in bay ridge. I usually go to one Love animal hospital, and theyve always been great. I recommend them if you live in bay ridge. Cheaper, better quality service, clean rooms, professional environment. They often take walk in/​emergency cases if theyre free, so generally there is no need to bring your pet to a «first come first serve» type of doctor.
Ill never make the mistake of going there again. Preventing flea transmission at a veterinarian is too important to risk, and quality pet care shouldnt involve being told youre a liar when your cat suddenly develops a new issue you KNOW is related to the vet care they received.

This is an excellent practice, I still come here even though I moved to another part of Brooklyn. I first encountered them when I rescued a kitten, and they took really good care of her without making one good deed a huge expense. The thing is, the prices are always totally reasonable! I had to bring my sweet Leo in for a little allergy flareup. For the exam, three medications and two injections it was all below $ 160 and I thought that was really reasonable. I told mom that I had to get 3 medicines and two injections and she said «did they give you a payment book» and I laughed and told her the actual cost and she was amazed. The care is fantastic and they have such a nice bedside manner. Later in the day I was worried about his eye being inflamed still, and I called, and the doctor took the phone call immediately and politely and patiently explained that it was normal. Such awesome people and awesome care.
The wait can be cumbersome because of the nature of the clinic — they don’t take appointments except for surgeries– but I’ve been there many times and it’s never too bad.

I had not needed to visit this Vets office for years since first adopting my cat Shadow from the streets of Bay Ridge and once she was given a clean bill of health and all her shots, we didn’t come back that often with the exception to get her fixed and do some follow up. She was an indoor feline with no going outside or interaction with other animals outside of her own offspring over the course of my owning her. She was 6 months old when I brought her in and a very pleasant warm animal from the start.
Sadly I had to visit these folks when Shadow’s health took a rapid turn for the worst a few weeks ago and it would be her final visit to the place as the doctor felt it was her time to leave us. I had hoped that maybe she just had a flu or something but it was a bit worse from the look of it. She was fourteen years of age and led a comfortable life in two different apartments over the years that I had her. At my appointment to make the decision the staff and the doctor were kind as all get out during my sadness in dealing with this course of action and it really made it easier on my handling it all. There is a real visible concern in their office which I appreciated very much as I let my girl go and they are to be commended on this. I think if you are in this neighborhood and need to use a Vet that they should be on your quick list over the few others that can be found in close proximity.

Tried this Vet on a whim — had an emergency on labor day weekend (Monday) and Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge was open! The reception was super sweet to me given my frantic state and said just come in!
Brought the puppy in and within two minutes of JUST examining my pup Dr. Alexandru was able to diagnose the problem. I may have asked many questions — he basically said, ‘I’ve been doing this for a very long time.’ I truly respect the fact that he said that. like calm down lady! When i told my boyfriend to guess what the damage was — for an exam, antibiotic shot, and anti inflammatory shot — rx of antibiotics and rx of anti anti inflammatory — he guessed 400 — IT WAS 160. we were amazed! Our regular vet would’ve costed us at least 400 for bloodwork X-​rays the whole monty — and then try and sell us pet insurance on top of it.
Point being — if you are tired of getting ripped off at your vet come to this vet! Dr. Alexandru has probably +50 years of experience — he has seen it all. He truly loves his job and it shows.
Love Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge!

My new puppy Kettle has been to Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge for all his recent shots and neutering. The veterinarian and staff were very professional and kind answering all of our questions. I have brought my new puppy to a few other vets but was most satisfied with Dr. Alexandru. Accepting walk-​ins and reasonable pricing makes all the difference.

Our three cats used to be patients at One Love over on 3^rd avenue in Bay Ridge, and while they got excellent care, the prices were just not within our means. Plus, after our kitten got hot spots, the vet we saw at One Love basically said there was nothing they could give her AND told us we’d have to bomb our apartment and hire an exterminator, even though our cats didn’t have fleas. Unsatisfied with One Love — and with a still-​sore kitten — we went to Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge for a more budget-​friendly second opinion. After seeing Dr. Ibrahim, who immediately gave us the antibiotic ointment that made our kitten’s raw spots go away, we started bringing all of our cats here. Granted, the wait can be a bit long since it’s first come, first serve, but the care & attention that the receptionists, vet techs, and doctors give to the people and pets that come in is first class all the way. We’re not big fans of Dr. Swails, but everyone else here goes above and beyond to not only provide excellent care, but to also take the time to talk to pet owners about any questions or concerns.

I had my kitten Olivia spayed at this place. From the very moment I dropped her off to the time I picked her up I felt very relaxed and confident that she was in great hands. Michelle, the front desk staff member, was more than gracious and accommodating. She was really a pleasure to deal with. GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!

I have been bringing my cats and dogs to this veterinary practice for years, and will continue to do so. Drs. Alexandru, Mastrangelo and Ibriham are sincerely compassionate, knowledgable and caring veterinarians who I trust with all my little babies. They don’t do ‘it all’ but make great referrals as necessary. They’re always busy, so it’s first come, first serve, but they’re honest and hard-​working people who really care about their clients — both human and furry!

I have been coming here for over 8 years with my yorkie Chloe. Always a very professional yet friendly atmosphere and lovely staff. vet techs are helpful and we have been seen by Dr. Swails, Dr. Anurova (left to live overseas) DR. Ibraham and my personal goddess Dr. Mastrangelo. They are efficient, caring and will never steer you wrong.

First come first serve! 2 seasoned vets with a great support staff! Inexpensive, easy parking and close to all the main roads.

After trying out several places I have found myself most comfortable here. First, they only charge $ 25 a visit. Second, you don’t need an appointment. Third, the vets here seem very gentle & sweet. You can talk to them and they genuinely seem concerned & helpful. When another vet (Dr. Keshner, of Pet Haven) couldn’t be bothered to look at my dog’s watery eye problem, Dr. Ibrahim (of Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge) did and she quickly prescribed eye drops which seem to have worked. (I like that she wanted to try treating the problem before sending me to a costly specialist. Worse case scenario, if the problem returns I’ll go to a specialist but I want to know I pursued other options first.) And finally, the overall prices here are the most competitive I’ve seen.
Also, my cat’s ear infection was confirmed & treated by Dr. Swails (of Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge) when another vet (Dr. Roy Appel of Fifth Avenue Veterinary Hospital) said it was nothing and did nothing. (How could a brown & white puss-​like liquid dripping out of my cat’s ear, while he constantly scratched & aggressively shook his head, be nothing??) I’m no doctor but that just seems wrong. Also, Dr. Swails went out of her way to assist my dog with an allergy issue he was having when he tagged along for my cat’s appointment for no charge.
So far I’m a fan of Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge.

If you read my review of Animal Clinic of 20^th Avenue, you’ll see that Dr. Alexandru suggested that I bring my cat to this clinic (his normal practice) because the previous place was unable to do x-​rays for my cat. He did all her tests needed here since it was just overall easier to do so. She was there for 5 days and after the first day I found out she had diabetes. Dr. Alexandru gave me updates on her condition daily and showed concern for me being able to administer her injections once I got her home.
When I picked her up, it was a busy Saturday and the doctor was filling in again over at the clinic at 20^th Avenue, but the tech showed me how to give the injection and I spoke to the doctor on the phone before leaving. I was expecting a huge bill. but it was considerably less than what I had read about on the internet and appreciated that she was so well taken care of.
I’ve been giving her injections for several days now and even though I was nervous the first time I quickly learned to relax and just do it. The vet tech even called the day after I picked her up to check on her and make sure she was okay and I was managing. Little things like this made me appreciate this even more.
I can’t comment on any of the other doctors at this practice, but Dr. Alexandru and his vet tech made my baby act like herself again. I’ll keep bringing her to them as long as she keeps getting great treatment.
(- .5 stars because the waiting room can be quite the scene depending on the time of day.)

I have been using this clinic for 15 years. My first dog came here for check ups, vaccinations etc.
The Good: prices are cheaper than anywhere else in the city. $ 25 for visits, $ 90 for X-​rays. Free nail clipping. NO APPOINTMENT, FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE.
This is great !
The bad: maybe 1 or 2 times, the vets seemed very rude and don’t take the time to execute the best customer service.
Overall I never felt that this place will rip you off or don’t know what they are doing! I still take my (second) dog here.
A tip: come early, like 30 min before they open. It can get busy!

The facilities are very clean and well maintained, Its actually cleaner then some doctor offices I’ve visited in the past.
I know the staff well, they CARE about your animal here. If you’re nervous about the care your pet receives consider bringing them here. They’ve been in business for a very long time and know what they’re doing.

They don’t let me see what’s going on, but their prices are reasonable. This clinic is small and what I do like about this place is that you can walk in.

Horrible, if I had a choice, this place will not even get a star. My puppy’s paw’s were bleeding. I took him to this clinic, they shaved his paws, gave him some cream & antibiotics, and bandaged him up. They charge me well over $ 100. For the next couple of days, he was out of energy and the bleeding continued. I had to take him to the emergency room and they found a long splinter in his paw. How could this animal clinic of bay ridge have not found it in the first place? I disputed this charge and they told me I had to pay because they gave me a discount out of the kindness of their heart due to my financial situation. I paid over $ 200 for the emergency service. I don’t need any discount if the Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge can just do what they were in business to do.

I’ve had very poor experiences with this Vet practice. Ever since their only COMPETENT vet left the practice (overseas, no less), I have not been happy with the services. The good: Little waiting and no appointments are necessary.
The bad: They are a business and seek to maximize profits. I did not do my research and they offered my dog vaccines that were basically useless… again, just to maximize profit. A typical ear cleaning cost $ 250 because they said they needed to sedate him! It’s insane. I immediately switched to a better vet (I’m using the nearby St. Francis Animal Hospital) and they are much better. I should also mention that they partner with despicable puppy mills like the puppy boutique to keep money within the circle and to further rip off customers. NICE!
