Acupuncture & Healing Arts of Park Slope

I started seeing Helene in 2007 for a number of stress-​related issues. Having lived in Asia for many years, I felt really at ease with Helene, who has done extensive training in various healing techniques in addition to acupuncture. Needless to say, my (relatively) uncomplicated conditions were basically eliminated.
My parents, however, both have more serious health issues, and have relied on Helene over the past ten years to handle chronic disease symptoms and treatment side effects. She has been an enormous resource for them on their traditional care, and talked them through their day-​to-​day lifestyles. She has a great knowledge of clinical care and really works to integrate your ongoing treatments with acupuncture or other alternative healing.

I first went to Helene to see if she could help cure me of plantar fasciitis, a foot condition that had me feeling like I had a rock in the heel of my foot. I had tried insoles, stretching and finally an orthopedist was talking about surgery. A friend’s acupuncturist, who was fully booked, recommended Helene. Thank goodness!
At first she admited that she hadn’t treated the condition before but she was pretty sure she could give me the relief I wanted. And she did!
Not only did the pain abate, but it didn’t return for fifteen years. And it only came back because I stupidly bought the wrong kind of shoes. Now I’m back for a tuneup and relief is, I’m sure, on the way.
The sessions are the most relaxing time of my day. Helene is really skillful with her craft. I snooze for pretty much the entire duration of the session. The needles go in (little or no pain with each one) and the lights go off. New age music goes on. If I’m really lucky, when I’m cured, it’ll be years before I see her again. And that’s a very good thing.

Helene is wonderful. She’s very wise and understanding – essential qualities in any healer. She also really knows what she’s doing with those needles. The first time I went to her, I felt different than I ever had afterwards — so clear, free, light, and joyful. Her treatments were sometimes relaxing and sometimes energizing — she can do so much, and she has a great vision for how things might work for you. I visited Helene primarily for anxiety, but I also experienced chronic pain relief (and lighter periods, which wasn’t even on my mind!) with her treatment.
I’ve since left New York, but I would still be seeing her if I had stayed.
