Gorgeous building and space with numerous rooms inside. Went for the International Women’s Day event on Sunday on the 2nd Floor. I must say that it is excellent, but they do need to grease the bathroom doors to reduce noise during performances. They should also put sound killers in that hallway, because the curtain alone isnt enough to drown people chatting in that stairway area.

My arts company is based in S.O.S. so I have a built in bias for how cool this building is. I’m pretty sure it used to be connected to the big Visiting Nurse Service building next door, and still resplendent with classic building details(is it art deco? I’m not sure) including an extra-cool elevator that you have to see for yourself. But regardless of my bias, I came her for an event or two prior to having an office here and was always impressed by The Great Room event space on the 2nd floor, used for theater productions, concerts, rehearsals, church, baby classes… it runs the gamut. I also like the other rehearsal spaces on the main floor and basement — ideal for auditions and such as well. Most of all, South Oxford Space serves as an ideal residence, meeting spot and destination for local artists and is a boon to the neighborhood.

ARTNY South Oxford Space is a great rehearsal, small party, or class venue. Affordable prices, friendly staff, and great spaces. They have Studio B in the basement, which is suitable for small groups. Studio G on the main floor is a nice size with natural light and shelving on the wall — great for people to put their stuff during a class or meeting. The large space upstairs is gorgeous! Beautiful wooden floors, a small stage on one side of the room. Elegant large space for a small concert or presentation, not to mention would make a great space for a class where you need lots of room. Also, good spot to find out about arts happenings in Fort Greene, their table is always stocked with neighborhood class offering, plays notifications — and very well kept I might add.
