Update — this establishment changed ownership in August, and there are several differences on my first visit to the new place. The eggrolls are more like Chinese fast-foot eggrolls, not as good as the prior version. My bahn mi sandwich was good, but the bread seemed to get soggy quicker than before. I’m hoping that these differences are just growing pains — I’ll be back in a few weeks to check it out again.

This is my local spot for a quick bite or a take-out order, but i always end up staying to eat their soups. They do have 4 tables. They just got new owners and mostly everything I’ve ordered have been pretty good. They’ve added soups to the menu and i think they are probably the closest thing to home made bun bo hue you can find in the area. Spicy, flavorful(lemongrass!), and all slippery/meaty pieces I love(ham hock). Some other dishes that are really good are the nem noung(pork spring roll — crispy goodness with some awesome sauce that i don’t know what the hell it is), bun rieu(tofu/crab noodle soup — light and tasty), banh coun(rice rolls — taste very fresh), banh mi thit(great bread, good fillings), broken rice platters, and their phở is pretty decent too. I’ve also order out for parties and guests have been happy with the food(including fried rice, korean ribs, eggrolls, etc). I’ve heard people saying its been hit or miss, but its been a hit every time I’m there. I would recommend!

I was in the mood for some banh mi and wanted to try some place new. I came across Tram Anh here on Unilocal and it sounded like it was worth checking out. I ended up getting a grilled beef banh mi to eat for lunch and a grilled pork banh mi for later. The beef was amazing, probably the best banh mi I’ve ever had, though since this was only my second time eating banh mi, take my endorsement with a grain of salt. The sandwich was huge, stuffed full of perfectly grilled beef in a sweet sauce, lots of pickled veggies and a few jalapenos. This was pretty much the perfect lunch and cost only $ 4! The pork banh mi that I saved for later was good as well, though I felt the pork was a bit on the salty side. It looks like they have a number of other tasty things on the menu so I’ll be back to give those a try some time. They had some pre-made spring rolls as well that looked really good, though they weren’t kept under refrigeration so I’ll probably avoid those.

My favorite place for banh-mi. Great service, the smoothies I had were awesome too — will definitely be going back often.

Thanks to Yoko for writing a review on this place. I’ve driven passed this place in the strip mall numerous times, but never thought of going in. The place is tiny with a couple of tables for you to hang around and wait for your food. Though it’s a small place, they have about 100 items on their menu including appetizers, sandwiches(banh mi), steamed rolls & pan cake(banh cuon & banh xeo), vermicelli(bun), stir fried noodle dishes, rich dishes, soup, fried rice, smoothies, drinks, and some desserts in the display case. I ordered shredded pork rolls and special combo banh mi. I actually ordered the rolls by mistake because I looked at the picture and I thought it was the steamed rolls(banh cuon). The roll was stuffed with shredded pork, pork skins, lettuce, bean sprouts, and mint. The roll itself was not that flavorful, but the dipping sauce was really good. I think the sauce was fish-sauce-based mixed with vinegar, sugar, some chili, and pickled carrots and daikon. It was a very well balance mixture of salty, sour, sweet, and a little spicy.. just perfect for the rolls. The special combo banh mi was HUGE! It was literally the size of my arm, and my arm is not small! lol It was stuffed with assorted meats, pork meat loaf, steamed meat balls, shredded pickles carots & daikon, cilantro, jalapeño, mayonnaise, and some other red sauce. It’s not the most flavorful banh mi out there, but it was good and was so worth the money. I will go back there again to try something else on their menu. NOTE: They accept credit cards with a minimum of 10 dollar purchase.
