The food is always outstanding but repeatedly the service is terrible. With no one as cashier I waited for 4 mins without being helped with around 5 – 6 workers in the back not acknowledging my presence. As well as I did not get my change back. I suggest this place for the food but bare with the service.

HORRIBLESTORE. One cook, one front guy who reeks of pot and is rude & slow. Food all over the kitchen floor. People waiting over an hour.

With only two locations in Minnesota, I may have to make a stop at this location more often! After a night out in Northeast Minneapolis, we made a trip to Checkers. I had never even heard of it before this, but I’m so glad this fateful night gave me the chance to try it. We waited in the drive-thru line which took FOREVER, but I do not blame that on the business. It was late at night and they just happened to get a rush of people. We waited for easily over 30 minutes to get our food, but it was hot and scrumptious, so it made up for it. Luckily, I’m a patient person so I was perfectly okay with the wait. I got the Bacon Roadhouse and this was a smart decision on my part. I usually don’t like sourdough bread, but I thought it was well paired in this instance. The meat on the sandwich was flavorful, and well cooked. The bacon, double patties, cheese, fries… all of it made for a delightful fast food combination. Plus, fast food at 3am ALWAYS tastes better no matter what. I already know that Checkers would taste good at any time of day though. The drink that came with this meal was HUGE. It was a medium pop, but I swear that pop could’ve lasted me for 3 days. The fries deserve their own paragraph because MYOHMY… they are something else. The seasoning on them had my taste buds doing somersaults. I could become addicted to those fries they were so good. I’ll be sure to buy those again when I’m back next time. In short, slow service due to the massive late night line, but so worth it for me. Cheap fast food that makes me want to just say, «get in my belly!» Note: You will surely be amused by their little mascot on the bag and cup even if you may not be a fan of their food. Angry lookin’ fella, but he’s animated. That’s for sure.

Food is good. Service is not. Don’t waste your time at the drive thru — it takes 20 minutes. Refills cost extra, which is ridiculous.

Only place close to me that’s open late & it’s become my go-to. Great food & service. They are a little slow at times, but the staff has always been extremely friendly to me.

How long should any normal patron wait for one hamburger? 17 minutes and counting in the drive-thru. Who manages this establishment? I imagine the only reason they stay in business us due to the many clientele that live over here, don’t drive and need a burger. Ridiculous wait time. If zero stars were possible– that’s what I would have given them. Total wait time 22 minutes. SMH

Summary: Slow; very slow. Stopped in at 4:20 on a Saturday, from far out of town and first time trying this chain. Ordered quickly and were given our medium soda that actually looked like most place’s large. Two others were standing waiting for orders and 2 other tables were eating with about 4 cars in the drive through. We waited 14 minutes before our number was called out, after multiple cars went through the drive through. There were at least 3 people working; one at the til and at least 2 more in back preparing. That is inexcusable to wait that long for just 2 burgers and 1 order of fries! It seemed that day the drive through was given priority over the inside, but seeing other reviews it seems it is both ways. The burgers were good, the fries were way too greasy and the coating on them didn’t really add flavor, other than grease; to them. The amount of food was a bit less than 5 guys, but also at a 30% price reduction compared to them. However service was much worse, and the restaurant was in pretty unclean condition; half eaten food left on tables, food on floor in spots and the like. Also, they charge 38 cents to refill your drink, unlike Five Guys; but admittedly were cheaper overall, and it showed. We became familiar with this chain after seeing them on «Undercover Boss» and they and their web site looked really good for a different burger experience. Unfortunately it ended up not being all we had hoped for. The main positive, the burgers tasted a lot better than McD’s; but that’s pretty easy to do at most all other places. Overall — Food: 3 stars, Service: 2 stars, Cleanliness: 2 stars.

Great burgers and fries and the service was just fine! It was just like I remember from when I lived in New Orleans.

Best fries of any fast food chain. having grown up in the south, I’ve been eating at checkers since I was a child and I was surprised to see a checkers sign while taking a drive north out of downtown Mpls one afternoon so I had to stop in. I’ve eaten at this particular checkers a few times and the lady that is in management has always been very friendly, I’ve never had an issue with service here. It’s good to see minnesota getting some semblance of variety in restaurant chains, something this state sorely needs.

We waited in the drive through for 14 minutes to get a vanilla shake with a spot of chocolate in it(far from the chocolate shake I ordered)… I lived in the south for years and came to love checkers, I am very disappointed. Service is slow and the product is shotty! This is not the first time I have been let down by this checkers.

Mayyybe it’s because I came here extremely hangry, but that cheeseburger was GOOOOOOD. It’s fast food, yes. But it didn’t arrive quickly. No worries, I’ll wait a bit longer for easy-to-make food. It’s also sorely lacking in customer service. It’s all teenagers who would rather you didn’t bother them by interrupting their conversations and texting. *eye roll* See — two can play at this game! The cheeseburger tasted fresh(think more Culvers than McDonalds) and the few fries I swiped were the kind that seem like they are dipped in breadcrumbs before frying. In a super hungry pinch, this place fit the bill.

We waited in the drive through for quite literally 20 minutes. They said it was because«20 cars came at one time.» It was 6pm. Dinner rush… ya think? Just pathetic. Food was mediocre but fast food should be written nowhere Near their name. Wouldn’t care but we were in a hurry with crying hungry kids. Next time, just hit the jimmy johns in the same strip.

3 words: Spicy Chicken Sandwich. If that doesn’t impress you… How about Double Spicy Chicken Sandwich? Yeah, they’re that good(well, when you’re in a hurry or trying to cure that hangover from last night they sure hit the spot). Checkers isn’t going to win any food awards any time soon, but for fast food… I would choose Checkers over just about any other FF joint in the area. They’re cheap, convenient, and they have a little something for everyone. And when you can’t decide what you want… just be like me and order half the menu and try a little bit of everything! Your wallet will barely work up a sweat! Quick note: no free refills, and I recommend skipping the wings and dogs.
