The black pasta aglio olio was fantastic. It was one of the best black pasta I’ve had to date. It was made really well with the minced calamari and the seasoning was spot on. I paired it with a crispy white wine. I shared the shrimp and scallop pasta with my husband and that felt something to be desired. It tasted a little flat in my book. Next time I want to try the black pasta putanesca!

Great food and service! We love this place. Be sure to try the calamari with linguini. Can’t be beat. Restaurant is small, but we like that. Highly recommended!

One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. The wait is totally worth it. The seafood is fresh, the sauces delicious and the pasta is perfect. The squid ink pasta and the homemade gnocchi compliment the dishes beautifully. The daily tuna and swordfish specials are consistent favorites and the wine list is varied and reasonably priced. My wife and I travel from NYC to visit our son in Boston and The Daily Catch is a must visit each trip.

I am a big fan of The Daily Catch in the North End, but because of the parking is a pain there so I decided to come to Brookline just because it’s a little easier to park on a Sunday. 1st impression, the restaurant is cleaner and more room between each table than the other location. Only one waiter and 2 cooks, OK! We ordered the linguine clam and calamari in red seafood sauce. That is a blah blah blah… Doesn’t taste as good as I expected. Ordered the black pasta, the flavor wasn’t as rich as the one I ate in North End. Overall, it was an ok experience.

I went to the North end one, It is quite special, because the restaurant is so small and old, like an Italian deli, Maybe I had too much expectation on this restaurant, I got disappointment a little bit. We have their most famous entrée, black pasta, and clam calamari combo pasta. The taste of black pasta is exactly the same as regular pasta, so the specialty of black pasta just has the abnormal color, However, clam calamari combo pasta was so delicious, because the seafood was fresh and the noodle absorbed the sauce The whole dish was Amazing! BTW, their seafood was really fresh, Even the scallop came with Alfredo sauce in the black pasta dish, I still could easily taste the favor of scallop. Overall, the restaurant is worth to try,

I like this place for two things:(1) cozy setting(2) nice menu selection. The food is good but not as spectacular as expected. The service is good and overall quality for the money is reasonable. I had monkfish because I like mild flavored type. Unfortunately it was served as fried then topped with Marsala sauce. The sweetness from Marsala sauce is too much for the fish and also the crusty texture from the frying takes away what monkfish truly offers. Sautéed spinach is good and buttery, maybe little too much butter although I did ask for less butter.

I waited for more than 40 minutes. It turned out to be worth the wait. Lobster is very fresh and delicious. I really love this restaurant.

I’m not a foodie and I evaluate based on an overall dining experience, which is fine here. The food quality is not bad. I couldn’t differentiate it with other so-called«authentic Sicilian food». But as many of my friends recommend this one, I’m not sure if it is a «buddy influence» or it is the food. Price is OK. Three employees ran the operation: one cook, one waitress, and someone in the back kitchen. The seating is limited. It could only seat six parties. If we came 5 minutes late we probably needed to wait for about 30min to be seated.

Amazing food. Not a place for steamed lobster, more of an Italian seafood restaurant. Lobster fra Diavolo was Delish and enough for 3 ladies to share(or 2 Men). Small restaurant. Not great for toddlers.

Excellent signature seafood pasta dish. Decent value at $ 70 for the amount of fresh seafood you are served. It’s certainly a dish for 3(possibly 4) people, not the 2 as the menu suggests :) This is the quintessential small mom n pop kinda place: 1 server, 1 chef, and 1 bus boy(who doesn’t enter the main dining area since there is not enough room). Tiny restaurant with about 20 seats, so you could wait a long time. Great food though, even though my calamari, shrimp and part of the lobster(that was sliced open for convenience) were very slightly overcooked. The other menu items were very reasonably priced, especially for the clean and true flavor the kitchen is churning out at every meal. Charming place with friendly staff and extremely fresh food. I will definitely go back for a repeat visit the next time I’m in the Boston area.

I have been to both the other locations. and I was worried there would be a line. thankfully at 5:30 pm on a Saturday, it was still okay. There aren’t a lot of tables here. but it’s not that bad. There is plenty of parking on the street unlike what you’ll find at the North End(resident permit parking only mostly) and Seaport(you need to pay for the lot). I only got one thing here. and that was their Lobster dish that was amazing. Yes. it’s the one with lobster, clams, mussels, and squid topped on a spicy noodle dish. I thought it was delicioso. Pricey of course. it runs at about $ 75 and then with tax and tip. it’s about $ 100. I’d try the squid ink noodles. but it’ll have to wait for the next time I come back. Oh and btw. the wait isn’t as long as the North End one. and the service was a thousand times better than the one in Seaport.

This place has GREAT food. Yes the line was long and it took forever to get seated. Suffering from the freezing cold was worth it. — You don’t need to leave your name or number. They seat you on a first come first serve basis. However, if you’re seated in front of the window like we were, people will watch you eat like you’re in a zoo. — Self proclaimed world’s best fried calamari is very good. Nicely seasoned. Worlds best may still be Carmines in NY. — Clams casino were damn good. Garlic, and bread crumbs lathered the clam. Lots of flavor. — Clam over black ink pasta was near PERFECTION. If you like chunks of chopped cherry stone clams, garlic and white wine — you will love this. The $ 3 extra for fresh black ink pasta was well worth it. — Lemon cake was moist, cool and refreshing. Very balanced. They slightly burnt our Aglio Olio but I didn’t mind as much since it wasn’t mine. ;) If you’re in Boston and all those top ten places to eat list doesn’t convince you, The Daily Catch should definitely be on it.

My mom had driven up to remove me from my cave. I was in the middle of exams, and needed someone to take me back to reality. I had always wanted to try the daily catch, since it is just a block away, and Gster wouldn’t eat there since its only seafood. I could literally just have this menu my entire life and be set. Walking by this so frequently, I am well aware of the line. There is always a line. Sometimes its 30 people long! There is only enough seating for about 12 guests. It is very very small and intimate. The restaurant is open style, so you can see the kitchen from basically any seat. Which I love, since you know everything will be fresh, fast, and you can see the true art of cooking. Fortunately, our wait was only about 15 – 20 minutes. We were able to sit inside, and watch the magic begin. Once seated, I went back and forth between so many options to order. I didn’t know what I wanted! Everything sounded and looked so good. Finally, I went with the famous squid ink pasta in an Alfredo sauce, and swordfish. Everything was mouth watering delicious(including the bread). If I could afford it, i would eat here every single night. It was by far, the best seafood I have gotten in Boston, and possibly New England. I was seduced by the delicacy of the dishes and presentation, the intimate atmosphere, and the aroma of flavors. You caught me!

My partner and I, in preparation for our departure from Boston, are trying to hit the places I bookmarked when we moved here but somehow still haven’t tried. Enter Daily Catch. We were part of the semi early bird crowd Saturday evening, so we waited about twenty minutes and were done eating by 7:30pm. We arrived set on the fried calamari and lobster fra diavolo, and while the specials were enticing, stuck to the plan(plus a bottle of Chianti and a side of garlic bread). I prefer my calamari with more of a dusting than a deep fry, so despite the slight juciness of the product, it was fried a bit«hard» for my tastes. I prefer the flavor of the calamari to dominate the breading, not the other way around. The calamari meatballs, on the other hand, looked amazing. Never in my life have I paid $ 70 for a pasta dish, so the lobster fra diavolo was a first. I couldn’t take a bite without saying«mmmm» or «oh my god.» And thankfully, we brought our appetites and devoured the whole pan. The lobster, shrimp, and clams were superb, but the off taste of the mussels leads me to believe they throw in the end of the road selection vs fresh from the market. Either way, I delighted in sopping my garlic bread all up in that diavolo sauce. Dear, god! And the pasta, wow. So fresh and perfectly al dente. The lone waitress was surprisingly attentive, and managed the space well. Food came out in a timely manner, and we thoroughly enjoyed eavesdropping on the plentiful stories of the early bird crowd. Gotta love em! I’d say Daily Catch is a must try for anyone sailing through Boston!

A tiny hole in the wall just outside of Coolidge Corner so it’s definitely not for large parties and expect a line out the door. If you don’t like to wait, have an early bird dinner. One server takes care of the whole dining area so don’t expect to have personalized service. When it’s busy, just be happy that the food arrives. One chef cooks every dish. It’s quite amazing how that can happen with consistency of dishes. I’ve been a few times, every dish was cooked right. I particularly loved the clam casinos. Cooked to perfection and not overwhelming amount of bell peppers. It was a great balance of ingredients where not one was overpowering. I’m thrilled to finally found a place that can make this dish that I would drool all over for it! I never had black pasta before stumbling into this hole. The texture and flavor of their black pasta is to die for. It is homemade. FRESH! I actually bought at market and tried to cook black pasta but it was not the same! Their Marsala sauce is the best I’ve had. Not that I’ve gone out scavenging for the best Marsala sauce in town. Bold flavor with a hint of sweetness. Monk fish Marsala has become a staple of our meal when we go. Eventually, I will try everything on the menu.

Omg I love this place. I haven’t been to any of the other daily catch locations, but this location is right near me and so tiny and adorable. Cute, intimate date place with delish food! I’ve been here twice and the waitress is so sweet! Get here early unless you want to wait for a table. Now onto food: the calamari is so crispy and delish, my boyfriend and I consumed it in 2 seconds. It may have been a little salty for my taste. But I still love it. The small size is enough for 2, save room for the pasta! The black squid ink pasta, aglio olio. Is SOGOOD. My favorite!!! This is a must try when you go, I can’t get enough of it. Bits of calamari, lots of garlic and olive oil… Drool. We also got the shrimp pasta in red sauce. That was pretty good but definitely not as lip smacking delicious as the black squid ink pasta in my opinion. Now I’m hungry all over again.

We arrived just after 6pm on a Thursday and the little place was Half filled, by 6:45pm there were already three groups waiting in line. The food was excellent — I loved my freshly made black pasta with puttanesca sauce. Portion size was large I couldn’t finish mine. The small sized fried calamari was impressive, I usually don’t like fried calamari but I kept eating this one. My husband loved his shrimp and scallop linguine with butter garlic sauce. I deducted one star from this place because our waiter was very cold and appeared to be always in a rush. Half way into our pasta, he brought out our table bread and didn’t even say anything about its late arrival. But I would also add that he is the only waiter and he was good at serving quickly, filling water and giving the check. Ambience: place isn’t very fancy, it’s quite shabby so I wouldn’t bring a date here. As the line is so long, it’s more of a eat and go restaurant. There won’t be space and time for a nice and slow meal. I would definitely go back for the great food quality!

Was here last week for dinner. Food: fried calamari: ok appetizer, but I’m not a big fan of this anyway black ink squid pasta… really good, huge serving, probably best to share between two people They serve the pasta in the pan they cook it in, kinda nice. The place is very small, but doesnt get as packed as the one on the North End. Nice spot for a date or quiet dinner.

Great seafood pasta place! Kinda pricey, but def worth the buck because you know everything is made fresh from good natural ingredients! The signature dish is the black squid ink aglio olio. I can see why because it’s delicious. Salty, garlicky and super flavorful even though it’s just a few ingredients. I have to warn you, there is seafood in this pasta. I didn’t know that when I was ordering, but it was a pleasant surprise. Most people wonder what the difference between squid ink pasta and regular pasta is. I don’t know if there’s a HUGE difference, but enjoying black food was fun for me. It doesn’t taste fishy, but it is a bit saltier than regular pasta. The pasta was chewy and all around delicious. I ended up ordering more bread to eat the leftover sauce left in my pan. You can see the chef in the back cooking your food and once it’s done, he puts the entire pan on the serving table where the waitress sprinkles some parsley and brings it over to your table straight. Who knew eating straight out of a frying pan could be so yummy! Our waitress wasn’t even bothered when we asked for 3BREADBASKETS! She was so sweet and didn’t judge.
