First School of Mathematics

In the past seven years, I have sent both of my daughters to Victor. Both of them needed some supplemental help in math in preparation for the SATs and Victor was able to provide exceptional service.
Through his small class sizes and individual attention, he makes sure that everyone understands all the concepts before moving forward with the material. He places an important emphasis on understanding the material on a fundamental level and applying the concepts in ways that reinforce the concepts. Victor is also exceptionally diligent and patient, often offering a smile and encouragement whenever his students become frustrated.
With his help, both of my daughters performed very well on the SATs and were accepted to top Ivy League universities. For these reasons, I highly recommend this school.

I went to FSM for 3 years during middle school and high school, taking classes in Geometry and Algebra. My classes were 3 hours each, twice a week, and we also had homework. Looking back now I am very happy that I went to FSM because these extra classes helped me get ahead in high school and eventually into MIT. The work was challenging, but the teachers were very helpful and always pushed the students to get better. Even for younger kids, they stressed the importance of getting into a good college and doing well on the SAT, which is great because middle school students often are not thinking that far into the future, or at least I wasn’t.
Victor is a great teacher and is very good at math (he has a math PhD which is rare among regular high school math teachers). He’s always willing to help students before or after class if they need extra help. The classes are small so every student gets a lot of attention.
FSM is also a great place to meet people outside of high school. I am still in contact with a lot of the other students in my class, and they are all doing very well.
I strongly recommend FSM for any students that want to get better at math, whether they are struggling in their regular classes or want to get ahead and study more advanced topics.

You’re not a legit Russian immigrant if your parents didn’t send you to Russian math school at some point in time during your adolescence. Ergo, i spent 2 – 3 nights a week here between the ages of 11 and 16. Then i threw a shit fit and said that since i’m going to college for science, i don’t need this extra math work load.
Anyhoo, this was still awesome SAT prep (or exercise for the brain as my parents put it), and made me look like an über nerd when i skipped a grade of math in high school. In all seriousness though, while i was still interested in math, this school was a great experience with teachers who pushed you to think and work harder. And after all this time Dima M. (see below) and I are still BFFFF.
