They have closed their doors and are no longer in business. Bummer!

Extremely disappointed. We arrived at 6:30 pm and were promptly seated. The server took an extra moment to come to the table, but it didn’t stand out negatively and he was very friendly. We immediately ordered the queso fundido and it came out within the normal time frame for appetizers. It should be noted that we ordered our entrées before the appetizer was served by at least 5 minutes. We are just three people: myself, my husband and our 6 year old son. My son wanted to order the PEI Mussels, but they were out of that(as well as a few other dishes) so to keep things simple, he ordered the kids cheese quesadilla instead. My husband and I ordered the Fajita Combo($ 25) to split. The server assured us it would be plenty of food for two people. After the appetizer arrived the server told us a few times that the food would be out very soon. He did this unprompted, which should have probably raised our eyebrows, but we weren’t tight on time, so it didn’t stand out to us. Now, please know that we like to take our time enjoying our food, conversation and a restaurant’s atmosphere. We didn’t go there expecting fast food. We enjoyed the appetizer and then we sat there… and slowly we noticed that other tables that had been Sat long before we even came in the door we also still waiting for their food and I started to get worried. The place was only half full and yet multiple tables were obviously wondering where their food was as well, as evidenced by one table right next to us that ordered guacamole after they had finished their queso fundido. They brought in wine and their glasses were already below half or near empty, which tells you a little bit about the time frame in their case. By now it had been around 45 minutes since we put in our entrée orders. A man from another table that had been there before we came in started complaining that they really needed to finally get their food. It was at this point that my husband and I how to make a decision as to whether we should stick it out or switch our order to to go so that we could have a chance of getting our kid into bed at a decent time. Granted, we’re not expecting anybody to try and keep within some bedtime rules of ours, but having worked at several restaurants in my lifetime including upscale moderate and dive bar places, I have a pretty good understanding of how long food takes to come out in a well managed restaurant environment. In the meantime the servers were generally nowhere to be seen so when we did get a chance to grab him we told him that now I just really needed to leave and he needs to change the order and box it up. He seemed apologetic but it was hard for us to comprehend how all of this was being so poorly executed. Then came the final straw: he brought out our ToGo order of fajitas with no tortillas. It’s lucky I double checked the bag. So then yet again we have to try and track somebody down and point out we didn’t have any tortillas with our fajitas and then what are they bring us two tiny tortillas. I know they make their tortillas in house, but seriously being stingy with the tortillas at this point was just too much. So yet again gotta grab whoever isn’t hiding in the kitchen and beg her more tortillas. I mean, the guy knew we ordered the dish to split. Who ever heard of even one person eating an entire fajita meal with only two tortillas? And then remember the whole thing about the combo fajitas definitely being plenty of food for two people? Well, he’s lucky that we’re not particularly big eaters because the food was just barely enough. Them portions of meat were actually right on target, but I would like a job right a dollop of beans and again theoretically only just two tortillas if they had originally come in the first place. I really don’t like giving negative reviews. Like I said, I worked in lots of restaurants and I know there are off-nights where things just can’t seem to come together to work out, but this was really beyond ridiculous and the only thing that my husband and I could come up with that could be the cause of this was that they probably only had one single cook and no prep cook or server assistant plating the food. It’s my impression that our server was plating food and possibly even back there cooking at times. So in my opion this essentially comes down to some pretty bad management. This whole thing took place at the dinner hour on a Saturday night when any halfway decently managed restaurant is fully staffed, fully stocked with food and has enough cooks to get the food out to the people within a reasonable time frame. We finally got to eat our food once it was half cold by the time we got home and really this whole experience is just such a shame because the food was really pretty good. But, at the same time, it wasn’t good enough to give us the motivation to go back and try it again.

Really amazing, family owned restaurant. Staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is incredible, definitely worth the wait as it is fresh made to order. Steak was tender and expertly cooked. And of high quality. Just authentic and well made. Also their flan is one of the best I’ve had. Location is in a less traveled area of Burford highway but inside is nice, do give it a try!

We just ate dinner at Chigui’s – what a find! This is the high-quality Mexican eatery we always hoped for on Buford Highway. Having just come back from eating our way through San Miguel de Allende and Quanajuato, we have some top-notch Mexican restaurants fresh in memory, and Chiqui’s stacks up with the best of them. Everything we had was superb. The ingredients were very fresh, the cooking sophisticated and restrained, the presentation lovely. The pork ribs served on a wooden board were out of this world. The Acapulco shrimp with bacon and pineapple juice-based sauce was delightful, and the chicken enchiladas(in house-made tortillas) were a delicious and original take on the old chicken enchilada standard. Chiqui’s is still waiting for a liquor license so for now it is BYO. This was just fine with us as it allowed us to bring a bottle of Don Julio tequila and some craft beer. Chiquis’s cheerfully provided glasses. Speaking of cheerful, Alejandro, Chef Chiqui’s cousin, provided expert and convivial service, and enthusiastically shared with us Chiqui’s ideas for new approaches to Mexican cuisine. These are talented, ambitious young men. We can’t wait to return, next time with our Buford Highway Supper Club!

First time here. Fantastic. I had the carne asada. Worth the price. Can’t wait until they get there alcohol license. A good margarita to go along with the food will be fantastic. Brookhaven/Atlanta needed a restaurant to fill the void of serving great and creative Mexican food

I had an incredible experience at Chigui’s. Our server was Alex, and he took great care of me and my family! I want to preface this with: I am food picky but not atmosphere picky, and with my family combined, it is nearly impossible for us go somewhere everyone will love. This restaurant makes EVERYTHING you order from scratch(literally everything! Made to order). This means sometimes the wait is a little while to get your food, but it’s worth it! We ordered the guacamole and deviled eggs as appetizers, and they were amazing. The guac was served with both fresh chips AND homemade tortillas(without me having to ask for the tortillas!) and when I wanted more Alex went back and had another batch of tortillas made just for me! The deviled eggs were delicious, and small but worth every penny– I think they must have whipped the filling, because they were sort of creamy(instead of chunky), giving a light sort of finish to them, and I also enjoyed the pickled radish garnish that came with them. I also had the chorizo burger and side salad. The salad was the only thing that wasn’t amazing– it came dressed with a bit too much salad dressing, and the lettuce wasn’t anything special. The fries were hand cut, and pretty good. I ended up taking some of my brother’s fries in favor of my salad. And we finished the evening with flan, which was, like everything else, delicious. They also try out different flavors/fruits with their flan, so we plan to call ahead and check out their different flavors when we are in the area. Presentation is top notch, and my mom(who requires a «nice atmosphere» to enjoy her food) LOVED this place! Even my brother who is a picky eater loved his food! It’s like the vibe of a nice Thai restaurant with authentic fresh Mexican food. This is definitely a $$ restaurant, but I would come back just for their guacamole and fresh tortillas. Location is Buford highway on a less traveled side, which looks sketch on the outside but I promise the inside is wonderful. Check it out!

Staff was really friendly and informative. Food was traditional mexican fare. I had the chicken fajitas with an appetizer of queso fundido. Downside is there was no alcohol, since they were waiting on liquor license approvals. Area the restaurant is located is not well lit at night

I really enjoyed my dinner here. They are very new but the food is great. They don’t have their liquor license yet but they should have it soon. I really liked the deviled eggs and chicken stuffed with Cherizo!

My wife and I just tried this place for the first time tonight, and we really enjoyed it! They still have a few kinks to work out like any new restaurant, but the food was very fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fresh, new Mexican restaurant in Atlanta. Be sure to try the chips and guacamole; they also come with some awesome homemade tortillas.

So stumbled across this place & totally loved it!!! Homemade corn tortillas were killer. The owner let us know they try to make everything they can so they can control what is in what they serve. Of course, that means it might take a little longer. But it is worth those extra few minutes. The fajitas were definitely not the typical. The chorizo really added that extra great taste. Definitely recommend this place!

Chuigui’s is close to excellent. The guacamole and homemade tortillas are top notch. The fries are great, but my chorizo burger needed a sauce to compliment the flavor. My wife got the sopes and said they were pretty good. I think the restaurant needs a different location more than anything else. It is in a strip mall, and all of the storefronts have blacked out windows, which gives it a dark, creepy vibe. For the type of gourmet Mexican food served there, the place needs a cooler vibe. I would rate the food 3.75 stars, if that option existed, but I rate the ambience a 1.

Great place to eat. Mexican Culinary at its best, the great traditional plates with a new era presentation and twist. A perfect place to take your wife for dinner, or a great place for a Business Lunch Meeting. I recommend the Pechuga de Pollo(Chicken Breast stuffed with Chorizo) served on a Delicious Bed of Rice. The Salsa Verde is Great, but not for the faint of heart, it is hot!

Had high hopes for this place but was sadly disappointed. We had the wings and guacamole for apps and the guacamole was good but the wings were just like regular old buffalo wings. The descriptions on the menu are very deceiving. We had the chorizo burger which was very bland and the egg on top was overlooked. The mussels were fishy and bland as well. Will not be visiting again in the future.

We tried this place since we saw it on scout mob. Walked in, very dark and HOT and the waitress didn’t know about specials. She also couldn’t answer any of our questions about the entrees. Chicken wings and they tasted like frozen Costco buffalo wings. Guacamole was OK. Mussels smelled like dirty seawater and had no favor – we probably ate 2 – 3 out of 24 – I’m actually nauseous just thinking about them. Chorizo burger was nasty and tasted like the meat was old. Fries soggy. Terrible dining experience so needless to say, we won’t be back. Save your money folks

First impression was, good lord it is hot. There was no A/C. We were the only two in the restaurant and did wait a while for anyone to come to the table. The waitress was awkward I guess and maybe inexperienced because she just stood there once at our table. We asked about any food specials and she said they don’t have any. We asked about drink specials and she asked in return«like soda drinks.» She found out that they don’t have a liquor license yet. But we could bring in our own wine, go to know for next time. We got the queso fundido, chicken enchiladas and two tacos. The food was quality, very fresh. Enchilada had a sauce I was not used to but tasty. Chicken was juicy and tender. Queso had chorizo in the dip which I liked. We asked for some jalapeño to put in the queso and our waitress wasn’t sure if they had jalapeños… If the waitress had any personality or knowledge of the restaurant it would have been a little more pleasant. Because the food was good and it is close to home, I might try again when the A/C is working.

Hands down delicious! They were kind enough to modify the tacos for me so they were vegetarian friendly — I ended up with black bean, spinach, avocado and habanero tacos! They make their corn tortillas in-house and they are the best I’ve ever had! I also tried the deviled eggs with pickled radish and was quite pleased — the radish adds a nice bitter kick to balance the eggs. My husband had steak sopes and a taco and my daughter had the chorizo quesadilla. Our son ordered grilled wings with lemon Rosemary sauce from the appetizer menu and they were HUGE! No liquor liquor license yet but that should be resolved by the end of the month. Don’t pass this one by or let it close!!! Mmmmmm!

This is place has a very interesting menu. The most traditional Mexican food they have are enchiladas. I didn’t see tacos or burritos, so it’s not average fare. Prices are a little high(entrees ranging from $ 12 — 25), but the food I had was excellent(the sopes). They have only been open a couple of months and there is currently a snag with their liquor license that they hope to have resolved by mid-July. Very clean place, attentive waiter… they just need more customers!

This place is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! The food is phenomenal. We couldn’t decide on one dish so ordered half the menu. The best guacamole and homemade tortillas. The shrimp and calamari was very fresh and delicious. Love the chorizo quesadillas and the shrimp diabla was amazing. The chef is very personable and obviously very passionate about cooking. He is has added a nice, creative spin to Mexican food. I can’t wait to go back.

This is a great place! The hibiscus water and lemonade are fantastic. We had the Queso Fundido with handmade tortillas. Next up, we had chicken enchiladas. Very good! My husband got a stuffed chorizo chicken dish. It was delicious too. The service was very good and friendly.
