Food was excellent. Very nicely seasoned and cooked, jerk chicken had a wide array of flavors. Nice smoked taste from cooking. This place deserves a lot more attention because it was really delicious. Will return for sure

Pleasantly surprised! Let’s be honest… I think a lot of us drive by a restaurant attached to a miniature golf course and don’t think much of it. We figured, let’s just try it. It was excellent. Ribs, wings and the green plantains.(We didn’t care for the ripe ones as they were a bit mushy). And to boot, the nicest folks running the place. We will be back!

No food review… yet. Will double back after I’ve eaten there. 5 stars for the vintage miniature golf course in the back. Plenty of obstacles from yesteryear such as the loop-dee-loop, the cannon, and clock pendulum.(and a new reggae-inspired hole with a picture of Bob Marley playing soccer?) Bizarrely enough, there are not 18 but 21 holes. The course itself needs some TLC, but there is some nice landscaping and tree specimens if that floats your boat. A much better option than the snooze of a course at Golf Quest.

I’ve been to Babu’s four times so far. Each time I am greeted with a warm smile by their friendly staff. I’ve had a majority of the items on the menu. Everything is reasonably priced, and come with good portions. Of the items I have tried my favorites are; the jerk chicken/pork, the fried plantains, cocoa bread and for dessert the gizzadas. I always get a house ice tea to go along with my meal which is nice and refreshing. I would highly recommend trying out Babu’s if you’re looking for something out of the regular cuisine in the area. You will feel very welcomed and walk away full and satisfied.

This place rocks, food is tasty, prices fair, management is warm and inviting. I had the jerk pork sandwich… The real deal I hope they thrive, this area is sucking wind for good food establishments run by great, hardworking entrepreneurial people

Really good authentic Jamaican jerk. The chicken and pork are both delish– but the mild sauce is super spicy!

I tripped over this place after a client meeting nearby. Very clean, simple décor, friendly(and funny) mother/daughter staff and delicious, fresh food. I had the jerk chicken with veggies. It was excellent and a nice portion. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in the area!

I’ve never really gone out of my way for Jamaican food but I will definitely be back to try more of the menu. I had a jerk chicken sandwich mild with fries along with a beef patty and a chicken patty. The beef patty was flaky on the outside and delicious in the inside. The chicken one had great spice to it. As for the jerk chicken sandwich, I wish I had ordered two. The chicken was moist and spiced just right and the roll it was served on just made it all the more delicious. They have plenty of seating and even outside seating for when the weather gets warmer.

Stopped in here on a roadtrip from NYC going north based on Unilocal reviews. Food quality was fine, but portions were small and the owner charged a plate sharing fee without warning us ahead of time. We ordered the oxtail entrée for $ 15.95, and received a small amount of oxtail(about 8 small diameter pieces near the end of the tail). the side of cabbage was small but the rice and beans was good and substantial. So the entrée ended up costing us $ 18 with the sharing fee and tax and tip brought it to $ 22. All in all, not very good value, considering you can get an overflowing Jamaican feast in the NYC for $ 10. Perhaps the other dishes(like jerk chicken) would be more substantial because chicken costs a lot less than oxtail, but I don’t think I’ll be returning to find out.

The only Jamaican restaurant/Mini Golf park in Western Connecticut. I suggest the jerk chicken sandwich. Great value and absolutely delicious. Go here for authentic Jamaican food but for the kids going to mini golf, they have burgers and fries as well. It is a takeout place but you can sit down and eat. The owner is very hospitable. The place has a comforting island vibe. If you are dining in, plrase note that the plastic utensils they give you are a little uncomfortable to use. I do suggest an upgrade on these.

As an avid fan of jerk chicken, I have been disappointed in many of the options in our area. Babu’s is definitely a gift. Given this being my first visit, I decided to sample some of the staples in Jamaican cuisine. My father and I split a spicy beef and a spicy chicken patty and a fried ripe plantain. The beef patties were pretty standard quality as you can find great beef patties all around the Danbury area, but these are not over seasoned as other restaurants’ patties. The spicy chicken patty was incredibly delicious, and I am probably going to be placing a large order to keep in my freezer! For our lunch, we each had the jerk chicken sandwich. I had mine hot and my father had his mild. I must say, the jerk chicken at Babu’s is in contention for the best jerk chicken in Danbury. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned, and the spice was at a perfect level for someone who appreciates spicy food. I chose a side of sweet potato fries, which were very good. The owners of the restaurant were on site and cooking, which is always a good sign. The mother was in the back cooking and the daughter manages the dining room. After a nice conversation, it is clear they are passionate about their food, which is more than can be said about the previous occupants(R&W barbecue). I wish Babu’s the best of luck and longevity in their new location and I will absolutely eat there again!

Delicious authentic Jamaican food! Had goat curry and the jerk pork with a side of jerk chicken. It is all soooo good, so tender, so delicious. Appetizers — callaloo was delicious(some type of spinach… «But better» according to them, very true) festivals(?? Like a fried bread dumpling?) were delicious. Everything on the menu is good. Also, service was excellent. The place is run by a mom and daughter, they were so nice and friendly and accommodating of our group. We will definitely be back! For the sweeeeeet saauuuuce!

Very good food. Owners are onsite and very friendly. It’s easy to tell they are passionate about their restaurant. I’ve been here for lunch and for takeout. My favorite dish is the jerk chicken wrap. The wrap is seasoned perfectly and is awesome. It comes with sweet potato fries and the portion is just right. I’ve also enjoyed the beef patty, and some fried plantains that the owner treated my foursome to with lunch once. The inside is more comfortable than you might think from looking outside, and the outside deck is great for the nice weather. The family is also passionate about church and family, so no jerk on Sunday!

I have tried many things on Babu’s menu. Each menu item is more delicious than the next! Of course the staple Jamaican Patties are delicious, as well as the Jerk Chicken and rice and peas. But if you venture into the escovitch, oxtail or curried goat… Your tastebuds will thank you. You cannot forget festivals and fried plantains. Thesa, the owner and her family will greet you with a warm, kind and cheery smile and great conversation.

Delicious! Fun! Caribbean Home cooking. The jerk chicken was flavorFULL, so tender, & spicy. Meals come with all the trimmings, rice & beans, fried plantains, tender asparagus and cabbage, & a nice salad. U get 3 choices of sauce: hot, sweet, mild… and the hot is HOTT… so if u like hot u got it. Chicken wings = Yummy! I tried the veggie patty… loved it so much I wish I had ordered two! Got the ribs last time. Those were very tasty too! Can’t go wrong… especially when supporting a local, small restaurant! Great music playing too… makes u want to dance! I believe they do delivery also… but we haven’t had delivery yet.

So the thing is I was really looking forward to trying this place out. I lived in South Florida for a number of years and have traveled to the Caribbean numerous times. I ordered the dinner portion of the Curried Goat because it came with a beef vegetable soup that I wanted to try. The soup was a little bland and served in a cardboard container. Personally I would just order the lunch portion and forget the soup. The curried goat was fine but the sides, rice and peas, boiled cabbage and fried plantains(from the freezer) were very bland. Not only that but I think their fryer oil was old as the plantains tasted nasty. All in all I found the food boring which is something I have never said of Caribbean food ever.

Jamaican jerk food was delicious! Sweet potato fry’s are to die for! Service was quick. It is a small place so if they got busy I could see waiting a bit. But they have mini golf out back, and outdoor seating as well!
