Yamada has been my favorite place for quite a few years now, I was so happy when they expanded their business and have loved it since with the exception of the past month or so. I’m not sure if they sold the business or have new staff but they are terrible, the food is the same quality but the staff has the personality of wood! They aren’t very friendly. Tonight my boyfriend and I went and we sat there for about 15 minutes before the waitress decided to come take our order after looking over at us 3 times, she walks up to us and says«Yeah?» Which I found to be very rude, not Hi, How are you?, nothing! So we get our food and as always it was good, while we’re finishing up, the whole staff is sitting at the bar eating their dinner, so we waited about 10 – 15 minutes for them to wrap our food up, we paid the bill and while we are walking out, none of them even said thank you! I’m not looking for them to kiss my ass but at least acknowledge our presence and that we are here supporting your business! I am giving it a 3 star review because of the food, definitely not for them!

Pretty good sushi and rolls for the Bronx! I liked their pink lady saki and the service is quick and hospitable.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Horrible service. Delivery guy was too afraid to come and buzz the buzzer to our apartment because he «didn’t want to get a ticket.» Um ever heard of hazards or double parking? I ordered at 7:51pm and my food arrived at 10:32pm. And when I called to get a refund I was told that they were going to take my food back. The food ended up being over priced and lacked utensils and soy sauce. DONOTORDERFROMHERE!

Ordered from here on two other occasions besides today; last two orders were of the hibachi combination and the bento box teriyaki. Tonight I ordered sushi since that’s what I was craving and I’m glad I did; shrimp tempura roll my fave kind of sushi since I don’t like raw fish. Also the crab roll was great didn’t expect it to be so big the flavors all come together, shrimp shumai which is another fave of mine since I loveeee dumplings. I don’t like to dip in regular soy so I requested dumpling sauce that charged me a 1 $ extra for 2, I didn’t mind. Will be ordering sushi again from here thumbs up.

Went to this place a lonnnng time ago and all I remember was that it sucked. Over the past 6 months alone I’ve been about three times and I throughly enjoyed it. Nice atmosphere, good tight sushi rolls that fill you up. Went tonight and was so excited to go, not sure if they had a stand in chef or not but I was not pleased t all. Food came out promptly but the rolls were massive, and not tight at all. The moment it touched my chopsticks or mothers fork it fell apart entirely. I got the lobster roll and while taste was fine except they added rice paper outside of the rice to I assume keep it together and it did not help. They put the tail in tempura and in my roll. It was not a pleasant surprise. My fiancé got the chicken roll and it was small and bland. The ginger salads dressing was extremely loose and watery and didn’t have much flavor because of it. Yesterday I would have easily given 4 – 5 stars, today I think 3 stars might be too much.

I discovered this place by accident, have only been one time, but the rolls were excellent. Freshly made rice was so fluffy and tasty… Will definitely find a way to get back there! Seemed very clean, the sushi maker was very methodical and tidy, you definitely want that…

Have frequented this place many times. Reasonable prices, nice décor, and great food. Had the wasabi roll and sashimi. Great sake and full bar. A+++++++

This review is for take out. Got the chicken hibachi with brown rice. Food was cooked really well, only complaint is that chicken was a bit on the salty side. This could be a personal preference thing. I’m interested to come back and stay for dinner.

Food is usually very fresh and tasty. I usually enjoy their hibachi menu as it is not usually offered by most places in our area. Delivery is fast and courteous. Not giving the fifth star because of price. Very expensive to order out but usually worth it.

Tried this place for the first time. This place is nice and clean. The atmosphere is vibrant and chill. The sushi is cool, nothing to rave about. The service was good. I went on a weekday evening, and it was not so busy. Good place to check out if you are in the area and want sushi.

I ordered delivery from this place today. One hour 15 min later I call to find out where my order is. They respond with your location is too far. I can’t described how pissed I am that no one in this location who took the order had the brains or courtesy to call me back and tell me that our location is too far. I mean come on, someone must have some brains in this place right? If they don’t care for their customer service when it comes to delivery, why would they care to put any effort into the food that they make? Thanks for the heads up yamada. I will definitely not be ordering from you guys. Bullet averted. Btw eat24 you guys need to get your shit together.

I’ve been going to Yamada for years, but this is the first time since the remodeling. Ownership and staff must have changed because the service was horrible. The waitress did not understand a word I said. The menu changed a bit and I asked a question. She supposedly confirmed my thought. Wrong order comes out. I gave them a chance to make it right. 10 minutes go by and was told the food was coming out. Then another waitress comes out and asks what I am ordering. Chaos. Not saying we need to speak perfect English, however someone there needs to know it to better assist the customer. Very disappointed in a spot I used to enjoy eating sushi with my family. It got one star because I had to. Will never go back again.

First time ordering and via delivery through Grubhub. Hibachi steak dinner with fried rice. I enjoy hibachi, I should’ve thought twice before ordering as take-out. Beginning with the miso soup that comes with the meal, it left much to be desired. There was only literally 1 piece of seaweed and a few tiny pieces of tofu; nothing else and I didn’t finish it. Moving on to the salad, it was decent; comes with the usual orange ginger dressing. The fried rice was tasty but was fried with egg only; there were no other vegetables in the fried rice. Lastly, the hibachi steak. It came more so as a stir fry with veggies in a brown sauce. Too much sauce for my liking which was a tad on the salty side. However, the steak was lean and cooked thoroughly. I can’t say I’ll order from here again.

If you’re looking for a place that has great sushi and customer service, then this is the perfect place to go. I’ve been coming here for years, and they never fail to amaze me. The people here are great — were on a first name basis and even get a roll specially made that was taken off the menu years ago. If you’re looking for a great appetizer, try the sushi pizza — it’s a hidden gem.

Great food, Great service, Great ambiance. One of the hidden treasures in the Bronx! All the rolls are great. My favorite are the hand rolls, try the salmon advocado hand roll. They have a full bar as well. Restaurant is more like a lounge which is very relaxing. Service is on point, very nice people. Definitely worth checking it out!

Since its recent remodeling, Yamada has stepped up its game, most likely to compete with neighbor Sugi Sushi. It’s become a worthy competitor. The updated digs feature a glowing bar and an enlarged dining area with ice cool grey and black color palates. And now they offer alcohol. It’s a relief to sip a chilled Sapporo with your rolls. It’s definitely a swankier vibe, but does the food still measure up? You bet. I had the Blow a Kiss specialty roll. It’s made of pepper tuna, mango and avocado topped with sweet wasabi and mayo sauce — killer! This place definitely deserves a visit.
