City island is always CLUTCH… can never go wrong with shrimp and cheese fries… maybe a garlic bread

The food here is mad good but a bit pricey. The portions are huge. I tried almost everything in the last few years! The calamari and fried shrimp is the best! I was hired to paint a couple of murals a while back! So I tried it all. Its not a romantic place. So I wouldnt show up with a new suite and a date. But If your just looking for a good time, good seafood, and a couple of pina coladas, this is the spot!

I eat here often. Food is good but don’t take anyone on a date unless it is a sunny day and you can sit outside. The place looks like a cafeteria so if you have high ambiance needs, go elsewhere. Seafood alfredo is great and they make killer oysters Rockefeller.

Came here in on a Friday night by suggestion of a local. The prices were cool and it was packed and the other reviews stated. We sat outside and I felt like I was sitting back in my highschool cafeteria. It wasn’t a bad thing, other than different groups of people playing different types of music. I liked being by the water. The bf got shrimp n fries which were good but I the Alfredo that I got was bland tasteless and a waste of money with very little seafood thus the 2stars. I would definitely choose a different place to visit on the strip.

WHAT A SCAM!!! Please believe the readers who agree. This restaurant is worthy of LESS than one star. I decided to take a friend from Miami(who has never been to the Bronx) to this restaurant because I grew up in Co-Op City and thought I would show her a nice local restaurant with seafood comparable to what she experienced in Florida… WRONG! First complaint: They only take cash and have a janky fee laden ATM machine at the front door. My previous belief was that establishments which only take cash must have the best food around because people will exclusively go out of their way to get cash before arrival. WRONGAGAIN! Second Complaint: I brought $ 20 bills with me from an ATM I withdrew from in midtown Manhattan, and proceeded to pay with the cash. Immediately, the cashier walked away with it(without taking my order) and a man came out and told me to leave because my money was counterfeit. Now, I am no investigator but I do believe if I had counterfeit money, a federal note marker or machine would’ve been used to ID it as fake before me. WRONG3X’s!!! This man, presumably the owner or manager, told me to leave before he called the cops and when I questioned the bill and his procedure to ID it, he refused. I called the cops and reported the incident and requested a write-up(pretty dramatic for a quick trip for some crab legs, I know) but I understand there is a process for EVERYTHING. Of course the cops showed up and had a pow-wow with the man first and then explained to me that I could have been arrested for the incident because THERESTAURANTISKNOWNFORCOUNTERFEITINCIDENTS but I provided proof of my ATM withdrawal and they said the note would immediately be taken back to the precinct. I requested a report but was not given one at the time. Last complaint: I still ate there because my poor Floridian friend was hungry and now traumatized by her experience out of Manhattan but the food is definitely not worth the potential headache the haphazard experience the ownership provides. I also don’t doubt an ATM machine in midtown can give out counterfeit money BUT I believe a restaurateur with a known counterfeit problem would have a better cash exchange procedure and better enforcement than grabbing your $ 20’s, $ 50’s or $ 100 bills, walking away, and telling you to get out! I feel bad for anyone else who this has happened to who did not speak up. This event happened last year but I am writing my review today because I am sending a FOIL request today(Freedom of Information Law) to the New York City Police Department, in order to see what transpired after my 911 phone call and«reported» incident. I am sure if we all dug deep enough, we would find a good reason why this restaurant has counterfeit cash problems… and it may not have to do with its customers! Watch your money and your stomach here.

You can never over order on seafood! It was so delicious and fresh! It takes a little longer if you don’t want your food fried which I didn’t. Well worth the wait! I stuck with beers for I believe $ 5. Parking was great and the view was nice too. My dad has a boat so next time we plan to drive up in it. Down the block they have Horse rides which made the trip all worth it as an ending :)

It’s a cafeteria style restuarant that gets very crowded on a Saturday night. However, you can’t complain as you get a pretty good amount of seafood for the price and I love their alcoholic beverages. My favorite is their fried lobster tails.

Seafood City is one of my favorite seafood spots. The food is always good and fresh. I also love the Henney coladas. It’s kind of a cafeteria style place but the food is amazing. It’s a relaxed place to eat, drink, and chill out. I can’t wait to go back!

I would give this place half a star if I could, and that would be for ample parking. I checked out their website and decided to go there last Friday night. Well, let me tell you that everything in their restaurant is 2 – 3 dollars more than the website. When we TRIED to point this out to the woman who seemed to be in charge, she told me that that’s not their restaurant. My husband showed her the address on the website and her response was«oh that is the old menu. How old can it be when this place opened this past summer!?! After trying to speak to the guy with the mic calling out food order numbers, we realized it was a complete waste of time. Now $ 2. here and there will not make me or break me, but it’s the principle of the matter. We left and we won’t be back! If you want to be ripped off, this is the place!

This place is the McDonald’s of seafood. It’s a loud cafeteria with rude employees.

Came here for lunch, it has the feel like a high school lunchroom with the tables and open space, and arcade machines in the corner but the food was good, and the drinks were cheap even for city island

Food is ok but is super loud in there ! Nothing compare to the restaurants that are around! Good place for quick run for seafood because the food is cheap but way to loud and ghetto

Seafood City has a school cafeteria feel to it. If you come on a weekend evening, expect very large crowds and at least a 15 – 20 minute wait for fried food, and 30 – 35 minute wait for anything that’s steamed or broiled. The food here is mediocre. Not the best seafood I’ve had, but better then a lot of the over priced establishments on City Island. Don’t come here expecting top of the notch service either. You come in, pick one of the 3 sections to order food from, get yourself some drinks, sit, eat, and get out.

Came here for Father’s Day. Plenty of parking. Huge space with both indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of families with young children. Local crowd. Has a bit of a boardwalk feel with the abundance of fried seafood options, speakerphone constantly calling out order numbers and the arcade games. We shared snow legs, red snapper, baked clams, and Manhattan clam chowder. Everything tasted fresh, I think the thing I liked best were the snow legs. Cash only!

Been here a few times and love the cafeteria concept. The food is always fresh and the portions are huge! Drinks are delicious but in my opinion a bit pricey for the amount you get(The Henny Coladas are over $ 10 for a pretty small cup). There is outside seating, which is awesome when the weather permits. Nothing fancy, it gets extremely busy and loud and parking can become an issue as the evening rolls in, so if you’re not into that go earlier in the day. Other than that, it’s all good. If you’re into seafood, you’ll enjoy it here.

My friends and family enjoy the food here, though the prices are much higher than say Johnny’s and the food is not as good or worth it imo. As for myself, I prefer coming during the warmer months and sitting outside away from the madness, get my drink on and then order my food elsewhere on the Island. Seafood City has an enjoyable outdoor Tiki Bar with a somewhat better than most, but not the best water views on the Island. The bartenders iPod always has the latest hip hop and latin jams playing in the background while my beau and I are sipping on our 2 – 3 Henny Coladas. Around us at the bar and on the benches outside, we mostly observe a bunch of boys from the ‘hood donning their Cazals, Tom Ford shades or designer Aviators sizing up the competition around the bar and checking out girls asses… though that is the norm and its all good. Outside of the chilled laid back atmosphere of the Tiki Bar, during most prime time hours and days, you can find a maddening crowd inside the cafeteria-like restaurant with unorganized stupid lines inside. Which reminds me of back in the day waiting to order inside at a White Castle after a high school party. Utter madness! This spot holds a crowd combination of urbanites and a smidgen of suburbanites, young and old. Some with manners, and some without… don’t get me wrong I can roll with all types, so I know what to expect when I make the choice to come here. Therefore, I just stick to the outside area and enjoy the summer breeze and my coladas. So, if you don’t know how to roll with this type of crowd then don’t head here, take yourself to one of the other more civilized joints on the CI strip. But if you can, and after you’ve had your over priced, low quality meal, I’ll see you on the outside.
