I’ve been eating here for years… since I was a child. I am deeply disturbed by the recent Hepatitis scare and subsequent vaccinations that diners had to get. Basically some filthy pig who works in the kitchen didn’t wash his hands and decided to share his fecal matter with hundreds of people. I am beyond disgusted and I haven’t been able to eat chinese food since this happened. I’m schkeeved and don’t know if I would ever be able to step foot in there again. Its a shame because that was always one of my favorites. I will have the crab meat patties without the side of the chef’s feces please!

So saddened about what happened to this great place regarding the health scare. I hope they’ll be able to correct the problem and get back to making great food!

Please be aware this restaurant has been closed due to a hepatitis outbreak link to this establishment! It was in the news just google it to read more about it! I have eaten here once thought the food and service was subpar. But after this incident even if it reopened would never step foot in this establishment!

I went here in August and the food was okay. It wasn’t great but decent food for the area. When I arrived at the restaurant, the workers held the kitchen open a little bit longer since I arrived just when it was about to be closed. The hepatitis A outbreak from this establishment would result me from not eating here again. A bad reputation like this would ruin a restaurant and I expect quality food. I do not intend of coming back here again.

Don’t go there. There was an outbreak of hepatitis a. I went there and had to get a vaccine. You can even look up this restaurant online and will find out. It is shut down at the moment, and will most likely not reopen

This place went DOWNHILLFAST! I went there 6 months ago, the food was just Ok. I remember going to this place all the time with my family 20 years ago and back then it was called just the«Hawaii Sea.» The food was great then, but times and owners change and so do their standards in food quality, kitchen procedures and cleanliness. After seeing a news report on TV last week 9÷20÷13 I will never return, besides this placed closed down due to a virus. Please do a GOOGLE Search yourself on the reason why it was closed, and you might think twice about going there with your family to eat.
Where is Gordon Ramsay from the TV show«Kitchen Nightmares» when you need him, he might have saved Hawaii Sea from sinking

Memories of post vacation dinners. I always come here for dinner straight from the airport whenever I travel overseas. No matter how late we’ve gotten there, as long as the restaurant was physically open, they’ve never turned us away. Having lived in that neighborhood for a while, some years passed, Hawaii Sea has always held a soft spot in my heart. Yes, their a bit pricier than a regular corner chinese restaurant(if we can even call the bulk of them that anymore) but the food here is good. By far more fresh and more upscale than their counterparts’ hole in the wall establishments. I also like that they serve drinks here. The Witch Doctor is one of my favorites. 6 types of Rum coupled with coconut milk = GOODSTUFF! They serve it in a voodoo faced glass adorned with fruit skewers primarily made of fresh pineapples. LOVE this drink. When you order it, say«witch doctor» put a little bass in your voice and say«STRONG» to the waiter. What returns to the table will be pure magic. Enjoy :)

starting that it is an expensive CHINESE restaurant, something that it s strange. Decoration cheap, worse tha tother chinese places. For dinner, go for rolls or mandarin dishes. The sushi is great

I really like this place I think it’s super cute and romantic inside. I loved the chicken and broccoli and they have good sushi as well. There is always tea on the table which I love. I am not from the Bronx but have a friend who says he’s been going there with his family for years. There is a bar adjacent to the restaurant which has a drink that will PUTYOUONYOURASS called Thunder and Lightening. Then there’s this other drink that they have inside of a pineapple. Like they carve the pineapple open it’s super cute. When I think of chinese restaurants, especially in the Bronx, I think of take out. We don’t have a lot of restaurants like this in Long Island so it’s nice to try something different.

For the Bronx… better than most; but that isn’t saying much. Since they’re the only game in town for«decent» chinese fare they price gouge a bit. Vastly superior chinese food can be found in Manhattan/Queens for the same or lesser price. Tonight we had the chicken dumplings, steamed, not bad… definitely not fresh made, like quite a few places in the city, but certainly better than the rubbery rocks most other chinese places in the Bronx pass off as dumplings. The Dan Dan Noodles was way to sweet, not enough savory. Very out of balance; it’s not supposed to be sugary, which seems to be a trait with this restaurant. Everything has a tendency to be overtly sweet. The Roast Duck, meh, nothing to write home about. Very fatty. Properly roast duck is done slowly to render all the fat out. It’s not difficult to do well, just requires some foresight and cooking ahead. Had a large wonton soup, par for the course, better than the dishwater most chinese places here in the BX serve… In short, they got the market cornered relative to their competition, but it’s very much substandard food, especially when you consider the cost. Overpriced, by 20%… I’d rather drive over the bridge into Queens… some great places there.

I went here on a sushi craving, right before closing! My friend and I shared a Seaweed Salad, Beef Negimaki, a Dancing Angel Roll and a Rainbow Roll. Everything looked great and tasted great! The waiters weren’t giving us much attention, but you can’t blame them – it was closing time. Other than that, I have no complaints.

I came here for a lunch date with a friend today, and let me just say its awesome! He’s a regular to the joint so I followed his recommendation and got the lychee roast duck with the house special rice. Huge portions and incredibly delicious. The mai tai that I ordered was incredibly sweet and strong, but it was okay. The crispy noodles that came to the table were perfectly fried. Definitely recommend this place!

Obviously, nobody here gets the REAL reason of why you should come here and keep coming back… it’s called THUNDER N LIGHTNING! This drink cocktail is the best I’ve ever had anywhere in NYC! Hawaii Sea is famous for its #1 drink– THUNDER N LIGHTNING! It’s great for happy hour, dates or just chilling with friends! BEWARE– you may not be able to handle(2) of them… sucker! Get your drink on!

Honestly… A tat bit overated. The first time we went we loved it, and since its on my girlfriends neighborhood we eat from here from time to time. Is it better than your average corner Chinese joint… Yes… But not by a long shot. We dont sit in anymore, we had rude rervice a few times, and we just rather just order to go. I love the duck. its pretty much what I always get. GETTHEROASTDUCK, NOTTHEPEEKINGFOR30 dollars. It is a waste of money. Pointless sides, and not much better than the roast duck. The sashimi is low grade. Not too crazy about the sushi either, although i loved The Grasshoper. Decent place. Above average chinese, Nice décor. Hit and miss service.

i was FOOLED after reading such great reviews, and was very disappointed. The waiters where rude from the beginning and even the concierge couldn’t get it together. The place is very tacky to much lighting in a big lunch room style room. I was hoping that perhaps the food would be good dispite my gut feeling so i ordered the chopped filet milan and brown rice. the rice was terrible i had to drench it in soy sauce just to give it a little flavor. My «roasted almonds» where just splattered on my plate UNROASTED! i was so livid, no free refills on drinks. and to top it all off a waiter tried to argue with me due to the fact i didn’t tip. How insulting I’m sorry it just was not what i expected and def not worth a penny more of my already robbed money. BEWARE

Probably the best sit down Chinese food in the area. There’s never a wait and the food comes fast. My issue? The Chinese food is very good, the sushi… ehhhhh… I had a take out order which was screwed up and on top of that, the sushi gave me an upset stomach which led to «BGs»(bubble guts.) I’ll be back, BUT not for the sushi.

I’ve been going to the Hawaii Sea since I was a teenager and I have never been disappointed with the food or service at the Hawaii Sea. The food is great and place itself is very stylish! You’ll fell like your in a very fancy downtown restaurant rather than one in the Bronx. Everything from the fresh Sushi, the appitizers and the entrée’s are fresh and very tasty! Entrée’s are usually very generous and you may find yourself taking home a doggie bag. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great!
