This is the most exceptional place on city island. It was a NYC landmark before it’s tragic electrical fire… But the club it self is stronger than even… I grew up here,. And there were no better memories.

My girlfriends family joined Morris about 1 year ago to access kayaking a bit easier. I must say, I did have a preconceived notion about the degree to which one had to have their nose tilted in the air to attend a yacht club. However, upon going to Morris fairly consistently on the weekends, I no longer feel this way. We do not have a boat, so I cannot review the amenities regarding that, however it is a great place to have your kayak, and an awesome place to hang out when the weather is nice. I have not had a chance to eat but they have a nice bar/restaurant upstairs and I have ingested some pretty delicious libations. I would give it 5 stars if they had a pool, and if they kept better care of their beach.(Nothing bad, but it could use a good combing). Will return on a weekly basis.

The Morris has changed for the better. With it’s brand new club house and travel lift to haul boats, it has gone through a metamorphosis. It hosts a catering hall and restaurant with beautiful views of the long Island sound and Manhattan. Definitely a must see!

i spent my entire childhood being dragged kicking & screaming from the boondocks streets of Fort Greene bklyn 80’s to this backwater backward backyard of the Bronx every summer weekend. But now looking back i miss the old style of salty-dog types that frequented this place with their sundameged pinacle playing over sized sun glassed wearing wives sitting on the lawn while their sea fare husbands were running the dry dock & downing six packs Bud out of igloos. a little of the old remains here withing the people & the great lawn… but after the fire and new high tech dry dock installation its a shell of its former self… still 5 stars just not my kind of 5 stars… but that’s just me, i miss the old but to be fair its a change that was going to come whether i like it or not.

Out of all the years of being here in NY — I can finally say I’ve been to the BRONX! Wooo hooo — not sure if City Island really counts as the boogie down Bronx, but I am still checking off Bronx from my list. Came here sailing with cutie patootie E and A. This place offers storage spaces for you to put your personal things there for safe keeping.(i.e life jackets, fishing poles, and etc.) As we walked out I could see an endless amount of mussels — DAMN too bad you can’t eat them because I would have brought a pot. We got onto the launch and the launch operator took us out to the sail boat. It was a breezy Saturday not so much sun, so I had trouble sitting still without loosing my balance. I never knew New York could be this peaceful or this beautiful. The scenery is amazing and I never imagine the houses in the Bronx looks like the ones back home. Maybe this is why it didn’t feel like the Bronx to me. You can fish here, but I didn’t really see anyone fishing that day except cruising around in their boats. When the weather is good, you can hang out on the shore or throw private parties here. There’s really not much else to review here since there’s no food — it’s just basically you and your boat. Oh, they have real restrooms here… no port-a-potties!
