ALMOST gave it three stars since it’s a neighborhood spot, but that wouldn’t be fair. Got their«famous chicken burger» and wings. Chicken burger was ok. Bit small, but good(not a burger, fried chicken sandwich). Wings were awful. They were coated in some sort of bad tasting paste. Really bad, there’s no way the owner/cook eats one and says«yum! Send that out» … Also the bleu cheese came in a packet. This is probably because they don’t sell a lot of wings, and now I know why.

Mary’s Celtic Kitchen has been a favorite of mine ever since their name popped up on the local restaurant list on my GrubHub account. Juicy, flavorful burgers, delicious mozzarella sticks, amazing chicken fingers, mouth watering fish and chips. The service is also pleasant and for the most part prompt. I haven’t had a chance to indulge in any of the traditional irish fare but cant wait. I have tried the fried chicken snack box and I have to say it was terrible(overcooked and unappealing). The only other thing I didnt enjoy was the chicken caesar wrap-dry and flavorless. Avoid these menu items. Enjoy everything else.

Well I didn’t expect much because they are basically a fast food joint. The food is a bit over priced. 10 bucks minimum for delivery and you know«optional tip». Anyway on the plus side the driver came up to my door and actually knocked on it, a rare feet by many drivers these days. The food didn’t come in any real containers the fish burger I got came in foil paper and the onion rings in a plastic like paper. Oh but boy it was so greasy those onion rings. I did not know if I was eating anything besides grease. However it was delicious: D. The fish burger was very good and it’s the sole reason why I would order again. It was tasty and crunchy and well seasoned.

Great food, cheap price; it’s like an Irish diner that delivers. Try the Fish and chips, and homemade onion rings!

I listened to the reviews. This place is amazing! We ordered the chicken burger, delicious. Also we ordered the onion rings which are homemade and amazing. My husband ordered the cheese sticks which were good too. Our food was hot too! We will definitely be getting delivery from here again!!! We will be calling instead of Grubhub next time. Do yourself a favor and order this food. :)

Home cooking, classic Irish food in the Woodlawn area of the Bronx. Good stew, shepherd’s pie and the very popular beer battered fish-and-chips. Mary will make you feel at home, and her food will satisfy all those who are looking for traditional Irish fare. When stepping inside for the first time, Mary welcomed us very politely and was very courteous, as it was our first time in this Irish neighborhood. Customers are mostly all local and predominantly Irish. This section of the Bronx, which is a very distinct Irish neighborhood, is a sure place to visit and experience.

You will not find a place in New York City that makes you feel closer to the Emerald Isle than Mary’s, located in a distinctly Irish neighborhood in the far northern reaches of the Bronx. Woodlawn Heights is a place you will hear thick Irish accents and see almost all signage written in green. In the center of this is Mary Moylan, a chef originally from County Kilkenny. If you are not charmed by her friendliness and hospitality(not to mention her cooking), you simply have no soul! Inside the small primarily takeout/delivery store you will find a couple handwritten chalkboards and seven stools lining a small counter for eating in. The phone rings pretty frequently with orders, and most people stop in to pick up their food and say hello to Mary, delivering gossip and updates on life along the way. She seems to know all of her customers well, and takes care of everything with a precision that revolves around love. The sausage mash & beans($ 8.50) is a good combination of flavors for a meal, found under the«traditional fare» section of the menu. We recommend staying on this side anyways, but the place does cater to the usual bar crowd with burgers and nachos and the like. The sausages are fried and retain their juiciness, and combined with the potatoes and a little Chef Sauce, make for a delectable bite. The shepherd’s pie($ 8.50), like most places in New York City is actually a cottage pie, made with ground beef and not lamb, but is distinct from your average Irish pub by a long shot. The ingredients are fresh and it is not over-salted like most. It is hard to get a sense of the enormity of this pie from the photo below, but it is far larger than the size of your face, and a smaller portion is available for $ 5. I could not help but order a Scotch egg($ 2.50) from the refrigerated case. It appears as a nice fried globe, and when described as a boiled egg wrapped in sausage then fried, becomes something any meal should not be without. My companion for this meal giggled and proclaimed that this was the«first time a taste made me laugh.» Katonah Avenue and Woodlawn Heights in the Bronx spill a little over the northern border into Yonkers, and the whole neighborhood is an absolute gem. You can follow your meal at Mary’s with a pint at one of many pubs that line the street, and if you happen to pull an all-nighter, wake up to an Irish breakfast at The Irish Coffee Shop.

I don’t even want to give this place 1star… For starters it took an hour for my food to be delivered. When it did eventually arrive it was freezing, soggy and disgusting. The burgers are tiny. Especially the chicken burger. I ordered a hawian chicken burger that had a measly piece of pineapple and that was it. AWFUL. Never again!!!
